While driving my 2022 Honda CR-V normally, the passenger-side window airbag(s) suddenly deployed while the vehicle was in motion. There was no collision, crash, or apparent impact immediately before the deployment. The deployment was completely unexpected. The unexpected deployment created a serious safety hazard because the sudden airbag deployment could cause injury, startle the driver, obstruct visibility, and potentially result in loss of vehicle control. The deployed airbag(s) and related SRS components are available for inspection. The cause of the deployment has not yet been determined or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. I am not aware of any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms immediately before the deployment. I am requesting that the vehicle and SRS system be thoroughly inspected to determine why the airbag(s) deployed without a collision and whether there is a defect involving the passenger occupant-sensing system, airbag system, sensors, wiring, or related components.

Problem Description: While driving at approximately 35 MPH, the primary and secondary vehicle hood latches failed, causing the hood to unlatch completely and fly up against the windshield. This completely obstructed my forward visibility, forcing me to execute sudden, emergency braking to bring the vehicle to a safe stop. Consequences: While this incident required emergency braking, it luckily did not result in a collision or personal injury. Corrective Action: In the process of finding a body shop to make repairs. Estimates are in the $3000 range.

The contact owns a 2026 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 1-2 MPH into a parking space, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into a guardrail. The contact's wife suffered neck pain. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the contact requested the Event Data Recorder (EDR). The insurance company was notified of the failure but had not inspected the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 7,400.

Sometimes when driving the automatic brakes will turn on and the car will suddenly brake hard. This has happened a few times now. I had a few close calls with drivers almost rear ending me because of this. This seems to happen randomly as it always happens in different areas. There were a few times there was nobody else on the road other than me and the automatic brakes would kick in. I put in the date of the last time this occurred to me. This is a reoccurring issue that compromises my safety.

Vehicle Information: * VIN: [XXX] * Year/Model: 2022 Honda CR-V EX I brought my vehicle to an authorized Honda Service Center on 09/23/2026, where the Service Manager informed me that my vehicle's specific VIN is not actively flagged for the [XXX] recall in their system. As a result, they refused to perform the required gearbox spring replacement and lubrication remedy free of charge. Because this is a known, verified manufacturing flaw involving the annealing process and excessive spring preload of the Hitachi Astemo steering gearboxes, the fact that my VIN was omitted from the initial campaign does not absolve American Honda of its liability to repair a dangerous vehicle defect. Driving this vehicle is a severe hazard to myself and others on the road. I request that American Honda immediately issue a corporate goodwill authorization to my local dealer to replace or repair the steering gearbox assembly according to the recall technical service bulletin specifications. Please contact me within 3 business days to establish a case number and coordinate the scheduling of this vital safety repair. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11766686September 24, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Collison Mitigation system turns off without warning periodically, if I turn the car off and then restart it comes back on, but then goes out again shortrly thereafter. Other times it stays on and seems to operate properly, so I can't replicate the problem. All of this happened in completely dry weather, so system clearly not blocked due to snow or rain. This has never happened before. AI indicates that this is an issue being investigated by NHTSA currently. When it fails, the car speed drops unexpectedly as well; feels almost like a fuel injection failure.

While driving my 2017 Honda CR-V in stop-and-go highway traffic during wet conditions at 7:40 am on 9/24/26, suddenly multiple warning lights appeared with audible chimes and I suddenly was unable to depress the brake pedal normally. When I attempted to apply the brake, it felt like it was solid and had no effect on the speed of the vehicle. I immediately activated my hazard lights, crossed 3 lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder, shifted into neutral and had to coast to a stop on the shoulder. Steering felt stiffer than normal as well. I didn’t even have time to absorb all the warnings that were occurring. After safely stopped, I saw that the vehicle displayed the following warnings, cycling through them (I have a 1:25 video of this): * • Lane Keeping Assist Problem * • Collision Mitigation Problem * • Road Departure Problem * • Blind Spot Information Problem * • Brake System Problem * • Electric Parking Brake Problem * • Tire Pressure Monitoring System Problem * • Transmission System Problem * • Brake System Problem * • Brake Hold System Problem * • Power Steering Problem * • Vehicle Stability Assist Problem * • Hill Start Assist Problem * • Adaptive Cruise Control Problem I placed the vehicle in park and then it was towed to a repair facility and then to a Honda dealer and is awaiting evaluation. I thankfully was only traveling between 25-35 mph at the time due to traffic, and there was enough buffer between me and other cars that there was no accident. However, at normal highway speeds, in the metro area I was in with little shoulder and high traffic, an accident would have been an almost certain outcome with severe injuries or death as a result. I had no issues with the vehicle prior to this and just did regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on 8/21/26 (oil change, tire rotation, transmission fluid replacement).

- #11766278September 23, 2026UNKNOWN OR OTHER, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The vehicle's infotainment/display and wireless smartphone projection system is malfunctioning. Specifically, wireless Apple CarPlay can suddenly disconnect while I am driving and the system does not reliably recover or re-establish the connection. When this occurs, Apple CarPlay functions including navigation, maps and audio become unavailable, sometimes for the remainder of the drive. The vehicle and infotainment system remain in my possession and are available for inspection. This creates a potential safety hazard because I primarily drive the vehicle alone, with no passenger available to safely operate the phone or infotainment system while the vehicle is moving. The issue has occurred during highway driving. When Apple CarPlay fails to recover, I can be left without my normal navigation and other functions. Attempting to diagnose or restore the connection may require interaction with the phone or infotainment system by the driver, creating a potential driver-distraction hazard. This is particularly concerning at highway speeds. The problem has been reported to and evaluated by an authorized Honda dealership/service department. The dealership observed/acknowledged the issue and informed me that it was related to a Honda software/update issue, but no dealer-level repair was available at that time. There have been no dashboard warning lamps associated with the problem. The primary symptom is the sudden loss of wireless Apple CarPlay while driving. Bluetooth may remain functional, but Apple CarPlay, including navigation, maps and audio, becomes unavailable and does not reliably recover after the connection is interrupted. The issue first began around December 2025 and has occurred repeatedly since then. The vehicle has been inspected by the Honda dealership. To my knowledge, it has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives.

I own a 2019 Honda CR-V and have repeatedly experienced brake-system warning lights, starting problems, a hard brake pedal and unexpected braking/deceleration. I repeatedly reported these concerns to East Coast Honda, asked them to inspect the brakes, and showed photos/videos of warning lights, but many of my complaints were not documented on my repair orders. While driving, my vehicle unexpectedly braked/decelerated when there was no vehicle immediately in front of me, causing me to hit a curb. This was in July. On 9/16/26 at 52,113 miles, East Coast Honda finally documented that the electric parking brake warning was going on/off while driving along with the brake-system and battery lights. They found DTC U3003-16, Brake Booster Control Unit Power Circuit Low Voltage, and replaced the electric brake booster. During the same repair, the dealer performed a Honda CMBS software update. Their repair order states that American Honda identified an ADAS/CMBS software condition in which “unexpected vehicle deceleration may occur.” After the brake-booster repair, the vehicle was returned to me. It then would not start and the brake pedal became extremely hard, leaving my young son and me stranded. The dealer documented that the battery FAILED testing and replaced it under warranty again. This is my second battery in less than 2 years. I am concerned that the underlying brake/electrical safety defect has not been resolved. The vehicle is available for inspection. I have repair orders, photos, videos and voicemail evidence documenting these problems.

The steering wheel makes a clicking and knocking noise when turning left or right at any speed. The problem occurs every time I turn the steering wheel and can also be felt when changing lanes. The steering becomes stiff and feels like it catches or binds while turning, requiring more effort to steer. The problem has been occurring repeatedly and has not gone away. I am concerned that the steering could become more difficult to control while driving and create a safety risk. 2023-2025 Honda CRV have been recalled for a similar steering problem.

Vehicle •Year: 2018 •Make: Honda •Model: CR-V Touring AWD •VIN: [XXX] •Mileage when failure occurred: 125,934 miles •Date repaired: XXX Component: Steering / power steering / steering rack I own a 2018 Honda CR-V Touring AWD with 125,934 miles. The vehicle developed a sticky, jerky, popping steering condition when turning, and the steering rack/gearbox required replacement. On September 10, 2026, the steering rack was replaced. The repair invoice identifies the part as Honda Rack Assembly, Power Steering (EPS), part number 53620-TLA-A13. The steering rack alone cost $3,895.99, and the total repair cost was $5,046.20 including labor, tie rods, hazardous materials and tax. I contacted Honda regarding the steering problem because Honda previously recalled certain 2017–2018 CR-V vehicles for a steering gearbox problem under NHTSA recall 18V-663. Honda refused my recall claim and subsequently refused my request for goodwill assistance. I am submitting this complaint because I believe a complete electronic power-steering rack/gearbox failure at 125,934 miles is a significant safety concern and should be documented. I am also concerned about whether other 2017–2018 CR-V vehicles may experience similar steering-rack failures. The vehicle was repaired and is currently operating with the replacement steering rack. The invoice attached is in our son’s name because we are in the process of giving him the vehicle and if there is an issue with the repair he could take the car back to the repair vendor. We do have the replaced part if that is of any help to you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am filing this complaint regarding the sunroof glass on my 2025 Honda CR-V, VIN [XXX]. On XXX, while I was driving on the interstate at highway speed, I heard a loud pop/combustion-like sound. I immediately pulled over and discovered that the sunroof glass had shattered and fallen inward into the vehicle. I did not see any object, rock, or debris strike the sunroof before it shattered. There was no known impact that I could identify. The glass appeared to fail suddenly while the vehicle was being driven. I am concerned because a sunroof unexpectedly shattering while traveling at highway speed could create a safety hazard for the driver and passengers and could cause the driver to become startled or lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle had approximately 27,875 miles at the time of the incident. The vehicle’s in-service date was XXX. I contacted Honda regarding the damage, but the warranty claim for the window/sunroof glass was denied. I am requesting that NHTSA document this incident and review whether there is a potential safety defect involving sunroof glass on 2025 Honda CR-V vehicles. I have photographs of the shattered sunroof and can provide additional documentation regarding the vehicle, Honda’s warranty determination, and the incident if requested. I am aware of other reports involving 2025 Honda CR-V sunroofs shattering unexpectedly, which is another reason I believe this incident should be documented and reviewed. My wife and I leased this 2026 crv on XXX. Six days old, with approx 89 miles on it. We were heading to [XXX] from [XXX] on [XXX] when there was a engine noise, then a loud pop, my wife said it was smoking and no oil pressure came across the instrument panel, immediately after that message the screen turned red saying to turn vehicle off immediately. We were on a corner on the interstate right at XXX exit, we coasted to shoulder, there was flames coming up from hood cowl between windshield wipers/hood/ windshield while we were still in the vehicle. We were able to exit the vehicle and get to a safe distance and i called [XXX]. [XXX] fire department responded to put out the fire, as well as montana highway patrol to make a report. The Honda dealer we leased from sent us a replacement vehicle, they also had the towing company haul the car to there lot, and the payed the wrecker bill. We initially called our insurance to let them know about the fire, and that the car was a total loss. But we thought it would be best to talk to corporate honda before we filed a claim. It took honda about a week to respond, they said we have to turn it into our insurance. We finalized our insurance claim XXX. I am requesting immediate assistance with an ongoing safety issue involving my 2026 Honda CR-V EX AWD, VIN [XXX], which I purchased in July 2025. Each time it rains, multiple warning lights come on in my vehicle. The warning message shown includes: “Electric power steering system problem. Steering assist reduced. See your dealer.” The dashboard also shows several other warning indicators, including the battery/charging, brake system, tire-pressure, and other safety-system warnings. This is extremely concerning because it affects a vehicle I rely on every day to transport my two children. I have already brought the vehicle to two Honda dealerships: Honda of [XXX], [XXX], [XXX]. My paperwork identifies [XXX] as the service advisor/signatory. I was told the vehicle received a multi-point inspection and battery test. Honda of [XXX], [XXX], [XXX]. My service advisor was [XXX]. Technician A88 documented stored code P065A-00, an ACG/no-charging malfunction code. The paperwork states that the battery, alternator operation, and wiring were checked, but that further diagnosis would only be needed if the problem persisted. The problem has persisted. I have been told that Honda cannot fix it until it “actually breaks down.” That is not an acceptable response when the vehicle is displaying a reduced steering-assist warning and multiple other warning lights, especially when the issue repeatedly occurs in rainy conditions. A nearly new vehicle should not have recurring electrical and safety-warning problems like this. I should not have to wait for a complete breakdown, loss of steering assist, or another dangerous failure before a meaningful repair is performed.
