My 2018 Honda CR-V with the 1.5L turbo engine experienced an overheating condition while being driven. The temperature gauge fluctuated and reached the red zone, creating a potential risk of engine failure and loss of vehicle operation. The vehicle was inspected by a Honda dealership, which reported that the coolant was empty and recommended replacing the engine. I was given an estimate of approximately $7,000 for the replacement. A subsequent inspection by another mechanic included two cooling-system pressure tests that reportedly found no externally visible coolant leak. After the cooling system was topped off, I monitored the coolant level for approximately three weeks and observed no apparent decrease. There was also no coolant observed in the engine oil. The mechanic subsequently stated that a camera inspection showed coolant present in the cylinders and that the head gasket had failed. However, I have not received clear written documentation establishing the root cause of the coolant loss or overheating. The vehicle now has approximately 153,000 miles. I am reporting this because the vehicle experienced a significant overheating and coolant-loss condition that could recur without warning. A recurrence could result in engine failure or loss of power while the vehicle is being operated, potentially creating a safety hazard. I request that NHTSA review this complaint along with other complaints involving the 2018 Honda CR-V equipped with the 1.5L turbo engine, including reports of coolant loss, overheating, head-gasket failure, coolant entering the cylinders, and resulting engine failure. I specifically request that NHTSA evaluate whether this condition represents a safety-related defect and whether the available complaint and failure data warrant an investigation, safety recall, or other corrective action by Honda. Please include this complaint in NHTSA’s records for this vehicle and engine combination so that it can be considered with other potentially

Vehicle: 2024 Honda CR-V I am reporting a longstanding steering safety concern that existed well before my recent accident. I first reported steering problems to an authorized Honda dealership when my vehicle had approximately 1,155 miles. I reported difficulty with the steering wheel returning to center and the steering grabbing to one side. I subsequently returned to Honda multiple times for steering-related concerns. At approximately 2,121 miles I reported the vehicle pulling left or right on the highway. At approximately 4,910 miles I again reported pulling and a sensation that the steering wheel was pulling by itself. At approximately 5,693 miles I reported that the vehicle would move to the right at highway speed and required constant steering correction. At approximately 15,754 miles, I reported that the steering felt very tight and that two hands were necessary because of the high steering effort. At approximately 25,468 miles, after I reported that the steering was sticking, the steering gearbox/power-steering rack was replaced. I subsequently continued experiencing steering-related issues and returned for additional service. Most recently, at approximately 34,603 miles, I again reported tight steering, pulling to the right and shaking at highway speeds. On September 04, 2026, at approximately 38000 miles, while driving in wet conditions, I was involved in a loss-of-control/hydroplaning accident. During the event I was driving in traffic and following other vehicles, I was maintaining control of my vehicle with both hands on the steering wheel. During the incident, I suddenly noticed that the vehicle began pulling or steering sharply to the right, despite my efforts to maintain the vehicle's direction. As I attempted to correct the vehicle's direction and steer to the left, I experienced significant resistance in the steering, and the steering became unusually difficult to turn to the left. I was unable to regain proper directional control of

The factory hood anti-flutter adhesive (NVH mastic) separating the inner hood support frame from the outer sheet metal skin has failed and unbonded. As a result, the outer hood skin flexes, vibrates, and flutters severely at highway speeds, creating a distraction and posing a potential risk of structural latch or hood fatigue failure over time.

This emergency brake happened multiple times during crossing train tracks. I’m not sure if the sensor was capturing anything there but the car stopped immediately. Two incidents occurred in the same street and was after the traffic light turned green. Two times I had vehicles behind me but thankfully nothing happened. I monitored the incident then it happened again crossing another train tracks. One time just happened while driving, I didn’t have no cars around me but the car just started breaking on me.

Recurring, intermittent fuel smell inside the vehicle, even with the air on recirculate. Seems to occur when on very hot days when the vehicle has been running a lot. The dealership found a soaked evap canister, replaced the fuel tank and evap canister, and the symptoms returned after about one week with a fuel smell entering the cabin. The fumes cause migraines and are unacceptable for a new car.

Driver assist problems car braking and stopping without just cause actually causing safety issues. Computer issues. Computer replaced several times without resolving issues. Ongoing Engine issues reported to honda before the extended warranty was up. It wasn’t until after the extended warranty was up that American honda would address it. After numerous visits to different dealers for services finally this year I was told it was a head gasket issue. Honda refused to rectify or let in good faith making me come out of pocket more than 50% and purchase parts and honda refused to help I had to fight w them to get any help. I had to purchase the water pump and timing chain bc they wanted to put the old one on. They gave me 3 different significantly different quotes without reasoning. Then after receiving the car back over a month and a half later the car had safety issues stopping and braking on highway without reason. The car also still was sputtering and having issues w the engine. I called Westport honda (where I purchased it - where I had a lifetime warranty on the engine where they just finished doing to head gasket) they ignored me for 2 weeks letting me drive around w safety issues. Finally they told me to bring it in. After 5 days they checked it in and told me I had engine misfires. I requested all the computer print outs w previous repair but didn’t receive them. I contacted American honda to find out there was a safety recall never done by the dealer. I also found out there was an engine extension not told to me and I had to submit receipts to get reimbursed. Then I had to open a new case since the engine still isn’t fixed and has the same issues and yet Westport honda wants to pass the buck and charge me $3000 for more repairs making me come out of pocket thousands of dollars and have a car still not repaired. Honda should buy back the vehicle or fix and repairs all issues correctly without charging me. Honda is putting me and my child and family at risk!

2019 Honda CR-V, VIN [XXX], approximately 82,000 miles. Since new, the vehicle has intermittently displayed a "Christmas tree" warning — most or all dashboard warning lights illuminate simultaneously — with no consistent trigger (not tied to weather, cold starts, road type, or time of day). Over approximately the last two months this has escalated from occasional to daily, sometimes twice daily. On XXX at approximately 9:00 AM, while driving on [XXX] near [XXX] heading toward [XXX], the check engine light began flashing and the vehicle lost the ability to accelerate — it could only slow down. I activated my hazard/turn signals and slowly pulled over. I shut the engine off; restarting it resolved the issue and the vehicle drove normally afterward. Both an independent mechanic and a Honda dealer have inspected the vehicle multiple times and pulled diagnostic codes, and neither has identified a definitive cause; the independent mechanic has stated repeatedly that this requires Honda's direct involvement. I first contacted Honda corporate about this recurring issue in 2022. NHTSA's VIN lookup shows no unrepaired recalls on this VIN as of XXX. - #11763148September 9, 2026VISIBILITY/WIPER
New, 2026 Honda CRV purchased on 07/02/2026. The washer system doesn't adequately clean the windshield because the washer nozzles are mounted on on the wiper arms and are timed poorly. During our 1st highway trip on 08/13/2026, visibility was impaired due to an obvious, unsafe windshield wiper design. My spouse and I were on a 60 mile return trip to our home during darkness and realized the wipers were rendered helpless due a windshield covered w bug debris, fortuneately we were able to arrive home safely. The driver's side wiper at the very top of it's cycle (verticle position) sprays the wash over the top/side of the car and doesn't spray at all at the driver's line of view. The passenger wiper does the same, sprays at the top of the wipe cycle, but the driver's side wiper wipes over a little residue left behind on the down cycle. Today, 09/09/2026, an authorized dealer confirmed and inspected the system and stated the issue described above is characteristic of 2023-2026 6th generaction Honda CRV. The service staff report the design is working as intended, Honda's goal was to save washer fluid. I am reporting the above as a safety concern because I don't feel the washer system can reliably provide adequate windshield visibility under real-world driving conditions, particularly at highway speeds when covered w insects and dirt and other debris. I've already filed a complaint to Honda Corp. Customer Service; Customer Relations: Case # 16619499 on 09/09/2026.

June 22nd- Merging car onto NJ turnpike near Manasquan, NJ...accelerated to merge onto highway. Engine light started to blink and then car lost power as pushing the gas pedal no longer powered car. Pulled off the road. Turned the car off. Restarted it and car functioned and power came from pressing gas pedal. Safety of driver at risk as car was approaching merging onto highway speeds when suddenly lost power to accelerate. Luckily car had enough room with traffic that it could coast off road and come to a stop.

On August 8, 2026, while operating a 2016 Honda CR-V (62,459 original miles) at highway speeds, the engine’s factory water pump experienced a sudden, catastrophic internal failure and froze completely. The seized water pump instantly sheared and shredded the serpentine belt. This induced an immediate, sudden loss of alternator charging, engine cooling, and power steering assist while driving at high highway speeds. This instantaneous component failure created a severe, life-threatening safety hazard, leaving the driver struggling to control the heavily disabled vehicle. This structural mechanical failure directly matches the engineering defect acknowledged by the manufacturer in Honda Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #17-063, noting that factory water pump bearings were manufactured "out of specification." Despite knowing that this manufacturing defect causes sudden accessory drive-belt failure at highway speeds, Honda has failed to issue a proactive safety recall, placing drivers in immediate danger.

2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport, bought new April 2024, still under 3yr/36k warranty. All four original tires (235/60R18) hit the wear indicators at about 23,000 miles, worn most at the inner shoulder. Serviced only at the selling Honda dealer with no missed intervals. Tires rotated at 5,450, 14,256 and 19,746 miles. Dealer performed a four wheel alignment at 14,256 miles. Pressures kept at door jamb spec. Never driven hard, off road, overloaded or towed with. Safety concern: the dealer documented a tire condition inspection at 19,746 miles on 06/09/2026, when tires were about 3,250 miles from the wear bars. They recommended an alignment but did not recommend tire replacement, did not disclose tread depth, and gave no warning the tires were near end of life. I kept driving at highway speed unaware tread was marginal, increasing hydroplaning and loss of control risk in wet conditions. The wear rate is abnormal for a vehicle maintained on schedule and aligned at 14,256 miles. The dealer said alignment now reads acceptable and refused to diagnose the cause. The General Manager declined assistance. American Honda reviewed it at district level and authorized nothing. No explanation was given. Honda TSB 20-081, Rapid Rear Tire Wear, names rear alignment as the cause on 2017-2020 CR-V and 2020 CR-V Hybrid. Many 2023-2024 CR-V Hybrid owners report original tires finished at 13,500 to 25,000 miles. Requesting investigation into premature and uneven tire wear on 2023 and later CR-V and CR-V Hybrid, including rear suspension geometry and factory alignment spec. No crash, fire or injury.

The steering on my 2019 Honda CRV is sticking at highway speeds. When making micro corrections to stay in my lane I experienced resistance or sticking of the steering wheel causing me to use a slight force to overpower the wheel, which then causes jerking of the wheel and vehicle. This could cause an increase in the likelihood of a crash and causing injury. This started happening in XXX and XXX while traveling from [XXX] to [XXX] and back, for a total of 3000 miles. There were no warning lights. The car only has 52,600 miles on it. My car is at the Honda dealership in [XXX] today, XXX. They are trying to replicate the issue. There is a recall on the 2023-2025 Honda CRV for this issue, but not for the 2019, although this same problem has been and is being reported across other years. I am experiencing a strong mechanical binding, "sticky" sensation, and noticeable clicking noise in the steering wheel of my 2022 Honda CRV when turning, particularly at low speeds and near center, though it is noticeable at highway speeds. There are no warning lights or DTC codes. When rotating the wheel, there is distinct friction and a catching point. While it can be moved past with extra effort, this binding is unpredictable and I sometimes over-correct. The symptoms on my 2022 model are identical to the failure documented in American Honda's safety recall 24V-744 (only covering 2023–2025 CRVs) as well as Honda Service Bulletin 22-011 / Product Update 10216920 for the EPS Gearbox. Despite over 130 identical steering failure complaints logged by 2022 CRV owners on NHTSA, the 2022 model year remains excluded from recall 24V-744. I am filing this report so NHTSA can evaluate expanding campaign coverage retroactively to include 2022 models suffering from this exact EPS defect.
