This noise may occur on initial start-up after a cold soak of 6 hours or more that may last for 2-5 seconds. This may be due to an internal component of the variable cam timing (VCT) unit. Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 > Diagnosis and Testing > Engine > Pinpoint Test F has been updated to include additional steps along with a video to identify the affected VCT unit that requires replacement.

SummarySome 2024-2025 Ranger vehicles may exhibit a "Check Charging System" message displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U012D, U0284, and/or U042E stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to corrosion found in the active grille shutter lower connector (C1767). If no corrosion is found in this connector, refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 414-00 for normal diagnostics. If corrosion is found, replace the connector and active grille shutter (AGS) actuator (base part number: 10884). To aid in engineering investigation, when removing the corroded connector cut the wires about 3 inches (76 mm) from the connector to ensure adequate wire is left for analysis. If the corrosion condition is encountered, use the "Submit Global Concern Report (GCR)" link at the upper right of the Vehicle ID tab to submit a report and reference this article number in the report. SummarySome 2024 Ranger vehicles may exhibit a Front Parking Sensors Not Available Sensor Blocked See Manual message displayed on the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with no DTCs in the image processing module A (IPMA) when driving in cold ambient weather conditions. The warning message may appear multiple times during a drive cycle to include initial low speed acceleration and when coming to a stop. The warning may stop reappearing after the ambient temperature rises well above freezing. If all parking sensors are free of blockages and there are no parking sensor related DTCs stored in the (IPMA), replace both front active park aid sensors (base part number: 15K859) located in the passenger and driver fender lip mouldings. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 413-13C for removal and installation procedure. For claiming, use causal part 15K859 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

To correct this condition, insert the key into the glove compartment lock cylinder and cycle the key clockwise from the 12 o'clock position (unlocked) to the 3 o'clock position (locked) and then back to the 12 o'clock position (unlocked), 5 times. Extra force may be required during the initial clockwise key turn from the 12 o'clock position to the 3 o'clock position. This extra force will set the lock into the correct position and optimize turning efforts. For claiming, use causal part 60060T10 and claim M-time.
