American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM) is currently investigating customer complaints regarding a Honda Civic rear shelf vibration in certain 2022-2026 Civic Touring, Sport Touring, and Si vehicles. Owners have reported a vibration from the rear shelf assembly, particularly noticeable while playing music. Additionally, some customers have observed a rattle around the child seat anchor tether strap cover area on the rear shelf.

This investigation, referenced as a "Request for Visit: 2022-2026 Civic Rear Shelf Vibration (ACTION REQUIRED)" and "Request for Parts: 2022-2026 Civic Rear Shelf Vibration (ACTION REQUIRED)" by Honda, aims to collect specific parts from affected vehicles. This proactive measure is intended to help Honda engineers better understand the root cause of the condition before any repair attempts are made.

Qualifying Conditions for Investigation

Honda is specifically interested in vehicles that meet certain criteria to ensure the collected parts are relevant to the Honda Civic rear shelf vibration issue. Your vehicle must meet all of the following requirements:

• The Civic trim level must be Touring, Sport Touring, or Si.
• The dealership must be able to duplicate the vibration or rattle from the rear shelf.
• A video must be captured showing the issue. This video should include sound settings from the audio screen, a verbal statement of the settings, and a visual demonstration of the vibration or rattle from the rear shelf area. This video needs to be emailed to Technical Information & Support (TIS).
• The vehicle must not have any modifications to its audio system.
• The vehicle must not have been involved in a collision.
• There must be no prior repairs or disassembling of the rear shelf area or subwoofer.

What Owners Should Do

If you own a 2022-2026 Honda Civic Touring, Sport Touring, or Si and are experiencing a Honda Civic rear shelf vibration or rattle, especially while playing music, you should contact your authorized Honda dealership. Explain the symptoms you are experiencing and mention that you believe your vehicle might qualify for Honda's parts collection program related to this issue.

Your dealership's service personnel will need to contact Honda's Technical Information & Support (TIS) via email at [email protected] or by calling 800-880-1072 (Monday-Friday, 7am-5pm PST). They will provide specific vehicle information, including model year, model name, issue description, VIN, dealer details, your name, phone number, current mileage, and confirmation that the vehicle meets all qualifiers, along with the attached video.
