Was driving at 55 mph on a side road and started to notice pulsing/mechanical noises from the engine. After 3 minutes the Check Engine Light came on with a warning 'Take Vehicle to Dealership' and a few seconds later the engine shut off in Drive at 55 mph. Lost power steering and coasted to a neighborhood to be towed. Was not able to restart the vehicle.

Toyota's design of their dash mounted "infotainment" display screen software requires reentry of a 6 digit pin any time vehicle internet connectivity is lost. This interrupts the map routing display that appears on the display screen through sources such as Apple CarPlay. This Toyota software designed interruption of the route display represents a safety hazard in that it prompts the driver to take their eyes off the road to screw around with entering a 6 digit PIN code. Worse still, according to Toyota documentation, EVERY TIME vehicle internet connectivity is interrupted, this same prompt to enter a PIN is displayed. Apple CarPlay and I'm sure other map apps are not designed so poorly as to require the driver to reauthenticate their credentials upon loss of internet connectivity. I feel the design of Toyota's infotainment system software represents an unacceptable safety risk to American drivers.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the navigation screen would shut off and then it would restart with no information. The contact would have to stop driving and reenter the information. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that he needed to show proof of the failure for the issue to be repaired. The driver-side seat functions failed to operate as well as the lane departure warning system was inoperable. The vehicle was not repaired and the failures continued to occur. The contact stated that while his mother was driving at an unknown speed merging into traffic, the front passenger side of the vehicle collided with a trailer. The contact stated that the vehicle collision warning audio system failed to warn of a collision. No injuries were sustained. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer stated that the failure could not be duplicated or determined. The contact received a notification on the Toyota app for NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V566000 (Fuel System. Gasoline) the dealer was notified of the recall and informed the contact that the remedy was not available. The contact then inquired about the interim repairs which were to install protective materials and a clamp on the fuel tube however the dealer stated that they could not perform the interim remedy. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and that the dealer failed to complete the interim recall remedy, a case was opened. A Toyota engineer was sent to the dealer however, no failures were found with the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.

The fuel gauge will randomly reset itself to full. This poses a safety concern as the truck may run out of gas while it is showing that it is not empty. This could happen while doing something like pulling out in to traffic or turning across a lane of traffic. This affects many trucks, not just mine.

Being parked my truck started leaking fuel from the refuel port area, after inspected the truck found that fuel was coming out from the charcoal canister ( refueling line, truck was towed to dealership service department on 3/6/2024, service department inspected and found flap valve in gas tank not working properly allowing fuel out of the tank and charcoal canister contaminated, service department replaced the fuel tank and charcoal canister without any good results, once they refueled the truck to deliver it to me the truck started leaking fuel again at the same area, they explained to me that now they are going to contact Toyota Engineers to take the case. Needless to say having the truck leaking fuel next to the rear left brake assembly could cause a un contained fire.

The problem is faulty fuel gauge reading. My vehicle was reading between 1/2 and 3/4 on the fuel gauge. I forward parked on a driveway with at least a 30 degree incline and shut the truck off. When I returned to the truck and started it, it showed FULL. I drove it about 10 miles and shut the truck off for at least 5 minutes. When I turned it back on it still read FULL.

Inaccurate Fuel gauge or fuel consumption tracking to protect a fuel pump. Vehicle equipped with a 32 Gal tank. Vehicle indicates zero miles after 27 gallons are consumed. This leaves 5 Gallons remaining or 15.62% fuel remaining which is excessive error. If you know you have over 100 miles remaining when the software say you are at zero you tend to drive "Past" zero as a matter of normal operation. It would not be unreasonable to wait until 2 gallons remains to refill tank as that would still be 30-46 miles remaining. It was explained to me that the fuel pump uses the "excess" 5 gallons of fuel to keep the fuel pump "Cool" since the fuel pump is a submersed type pump. An overheating pump inside a tank full of fuel vapor might be a significant problem.

Truck Purchased new on 2/8/2024. A couple weeks later at approximately 1700 miles on the odometer the driveline started developing an intermittent shimmy between 40 and 65 MPH. Truck currently has 2026 miles on it. Dealership informed and are saying that this shimmy is as designed and therefore not an issue. Shimmy is progressively getting worse and being that nobody knows why it is happening I do not know if something is in the process of failing and might potentially fail at highway speed. This could potentially cause an accident resulting in injury or death. Note: A quick internet search "2024 Toyota Tundra transmission shimmy" results in several other complaints about the same problem.

I was driving on Highway 98 at 76 miles an hour. A light came on the dash said engine is low on power. Then immediately the car said to get to the side of the road the engine had shut off. This was in the middle of a drive on the interstate. I almost got hit by a truck. With family in the car. I made an appointment at our local dealer for all the recalls and they canceled it last Friday due to their service force being sick. This almost got me and my son killed.

Vehicle was turned off and driver exited with key remaining inside of vehicle. Returned to vehicle to remove items from interior. The driver's door locked and was unable to unlock using its proximity sensor. I attempt to the Toyota digital key. The app alerted me that the unlock feature was not available at this time. Walked around the passenger door to find it to be unlocked. Tried to use the electronic door lock feature, it still would not unlock the drivers door. I had to crawl through over the passenger seat to the drivers door to manually unlock the door.

I've taken my truck in 3 times for a problem with the driver seat having excessive play. Whenever I stop at a light or pull off the seat rocks back and forth. Each time I've taken it in to the dealership they tell me that it is a seat track issue and that if I raise my seat the play will lessen? I've tried that and it still didn't correct the issue. This problem has gotten progressively worse and I'm worried that the seat is going to collapse completely one day when I stop or pull off. I've driven different Tundras of friends and relatives and those trucks don't have this problem. I feel like this is a major safety issue and Toyota should correct this issue or replace the seat track. The first time took it in for this issue was on 7-12-2021 and the last time I took it in for this issue was 23-Jan-2024 .

While driving on interstate 30 in a new vehicle (3 months old), the sunroof exploded without contact from a foreign object. Went to nearest dealership, and their inspection found "No foreign material or signed of impact found." My wife and I were in the vehicle and no object struck us. If the sunshade was not closed the glass would have certainly sprayed in our faces and caused a significant accident that would have killed us and other motorists around us.
