POWER TRAIN
The CVT transmission has only 80k miles and is changing gears for no reason up and down at all speeds and won’t drive safely. Rpm’s increase and randomly gear kicks in and hits very hard and then stops working.

I've owned this car less than a month and this has happened to me twice. I start to drive the car and experience a severe loss of power. The accelerator is pushed to the floor and the car barely moves. This happened when I was attempting to pass another vehicle. Could have had disastrous consequences. No indication on the dashboard that anything is wrong. If this happened while trying to merge onto a highway the results could be catastrophic.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that while reversing at 2 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the engine. The contact also stated that the vehicle was hesitant to accelerate when driving at various speeds which caused the vehicle to jerk. The brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a passenger-side lower control arm bushing being separated from the control arm. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I feel something is wrong when I step on the accelerator and the rpm scale shakes while driving. When I stop and go while waiting for the signal, the rpm does not increase and speed does not increase even though I step on the accelerator to the end. When I visit mechanics, they told me it is a transmission problem.

At approximately 130K miles the CVT transmission had a sudden failure. Struggles to shift gears properly and often will pick a random one, which causes further damaged. Vehicle has sat for years, the transmission is unrepairable and a new unit must be installed which cost around $3500 for the transmission alone not including labor as told by the Nissan dealership. I now sit with a giant paper weight that is useless and worth nothing. Manufacturer should be held responsible as this issue exists and has been recalled in other models and years with the same transmission or issue.

2023 Versa occasionally loses power. Though the gas pedal is pressed to the floor, and despite downshifting, the car continues to lose power. This has happened about four times since car was purchased new in June 2023. Turning cart off and restarting may or may not interrupt the power loss. ~What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? We are not sure what is malfunctioning, and yes, it may be inspected upon request. ~How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Loss of power means others may hit our vehicle, not knowing we are losing power. We may not be able to move out of a dangerous traffic situation. ~Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Dealer appointment has been scheduled for almost three weeks after requested (long wait for potentially dangerous problem). ~Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. ~ Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? .The automatic transmission sensor. When u turn on the right blinker the car starts stalling acting like it's going to die. And it's not right turns it's the actual right blinker. And yes can be inspected. . You need ur signals to communicate with other drivers. So right blinker is very important, not only that the car jerking around in traffic like that is dangerous. . The car was inspected by a mechanic.. .I just bought the car and I noticed it about a month after I bought the car from private owner.

Traffic stopped suddenly when I hit my brakes they failed to work and the airbags didn’t work either so I ended up hitting my head on the roof of the car when I ran into the truck that suddenly stopped in front of me at speed of about 50mph. I don’t feel good but have no way to get medical attention right now. And was just released from having some head trauma the day before the accident. My car was totaled in the accident so I don’t need additional recall information on it, and no insurance to fix it so now I don’t have any way to get a new car.

On September 11th, my wife was involved in a car accident while driving her 2011 Nissan Versa. The collision resulted in the vehicle rolling over and ending up upside down. Shockingly, none of the airbags deployed during this serious incident. A family member recommended that I report this to Nissan, which I promptly did. However, their response, received last Friday, was rather concerning. According to Nissan, the airbags were not designed to deploy in the event of a rollover crash, and they suggested there was no further action to be taken on their end. Today, I consulted with an attorney's office regarding this matter, and they advised me to report the incident to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as a crucial step. Consequently, I am submitting these details to NHTSA to ensure that this incident is properly documented and investigated. Safety is paramount, and I believe it is essential to bring attention to this situation so that appropriate actions can be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Versa. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the check engine warning light was no longer illuminated. The mechanic performed an oil change. Several weeks later, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power while driving. The contact coasted to the side of the roadway to shut off and restart the vehicle before driving to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the CVT needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the warranty had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

The vehicle occasionally would not allow for the key to turn its ignition and would remain locked unpredictably and would require extended amounts of time to lock/unlock via security key fob repeatedly to allow for the key to turn the ignition.

2021 Nissan Versa S on Aug 26th 2023 driving back from NY heading toward Ma. when a Malfunction sign came up on the dashboard of the car. we pulled over trying to figure out what was happening and took a picture of the warning sign also the Break Assist showing something just happened. turned the car off and the driver turned the car back on. Continue driving. 20 miles down the road the Car brakes locked up the car skid a bit jerking driver and passenger forward. The driver stopped the car. A warning sign was on the dashboard showing a yellow square in front of a car and above two cars colliding. Monday I called the Nissan dealership and explained it and how that is very dangerous and a safety issue. lady said yes it is and we need to get you right in and said she was going to connect me with the Service Manger. after learning what happened he said yes that could be an issue and we need you to bring it in. Then said you did purchase the vehicle here said no in Vt then changed his tune now said we cant get you in right away don't have any opening. made an appointment for Sept 7th 11:00 am. I called Nissan Corporation and reported the issue and the way I was treated and how this vehicle is a safety risk to us and the public. was connected to Nissan Consumer Affair. Explained it to the lady she was going up the chain and get this taken care of. We emailed. I have the emails. called another Nissan dealer where we purchased it. Took me in the next morning. Ran a test then explained the test showing there's been a number of malfunctions happening. Said vehicle isn't having the issue at this moment so it passed. Said it was ok to drive. happened again appointment day came the 7th. Service Manger called me saying he can't get me in needs to reschedule. That afternoon happened again causing a crash. with a Utility pole. Showing emails and pictures to police. The police report reads Mechanical issue. I've tried uploading won't let me. but can email if need be.

My 2023 Nissan Versa S5MT has a reoccurring issue where under a stall condition the car will occasionally loose all power on a restart. This happened once in traffic. I got to a red light and fumbled the clutch pedal and stalled in stopped traffic. I went to get in front of a semi that was moving faster then me and if I didn't realize what happened I may have cut him off and gotten T-boned. In a 2500lb car like the Versa, that could have killed me. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they failed to replicate the issue. There were no symptoms or warnings prior to the failure. Many others have claimed this issue exists with their 2023 Nissan Versas and also claimed the dealership could not fix theirs.

A while ago my airbag light began flashing, we reset it a few times and it would come back after a week or two sometimes longer, either a flashing or solid light, it felt almost random. No codes came up when we had it ran, and then we took it to the dealership for inspection. It is the back of my driver seat, the airbag for the driver side back seat. I don’t know what the qualified number of complaints is, but please at least look into this. The most complaints this car has is something to do with the airbags. I’ve also had a similar ac/belt problem that was mentioned by the guy from Texas. He said the ac compressor caused a belt failure, mine was the other way around, my belt was squeaking for a while, had it replaced- month later my ac compressor gave out due to the belt operating at full capacity for the first time in a long time. It is available for further inspection. An airbag is plainly a safety risk, not to mention the part is “on extreme back order”, which leads me to believe that this a bigger problem then what is being reported here. The problem was confirmed by the dealership It has only been inspected by the Nissan dealership As also stated above, there were warning lights about its failure. It’s late, I apologize but I’m not proof reading this. Please look into it, please, it’s a very expensive repair that I won’t be able to afford for a long time, and I’m concerned about my back passengers..

Car is 4 months old 12,000 miles. 3 intermittent episodes upon startup car has only 20% power even with gas pedal to the floor like it’s in limp home mode. All episodes so far on cold start up 60-80 degree weather. No CEL lights, no misfire, no odd smells. YouTube poster has same problem and ran obd scan tool showing crank position sensor malfunction. Others suspect problem is software issue associated with Nissan removing the push button start from Versa S trim level only cars in 2022/2023 model years and possibly in manual transmission cars only. Car is extremely unsafe to drive in this condition and the female owner is reluctant to drive it 50 miles to work and be stranded. Nissan dealer examined the car and found no issues on first attempt. Car going to the repair shop for a second time.
