ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The car actuator failed for the left rear door. My car has less than 10k miles, and I submitted a case to their consumer affairs for it to be covered coz it's a premature failure, and they refused to pay for the repairs. I didnt know my car doors were no longer locking properly, and was left in a parking lot unsecured. Also, a passenger sitting on that side of the car would have had to go out the other door, and had there been an accident, that person wouldn't have been able to easily get out. They don't take it as a safety concern. And I know other models of Nissan have had actuator issues, so I don't think this is an isolated incident. And they should be repairing premature failures. Their consumer affairs department has been less than helpful as I have been without a car for almost 3 weeks now, and when I kept trying to call them back, they'd send me to voicemail. Kelly Nissan is also overcharging for the cost of the repair. The actual item is about $130 on Nissan, and they're charging $200. The labor, per standards, should take about 1-1.5 hours, but they're charging $444.

On September 17, 2026, my 2018 Nissan was involved in a severe rear-end collision on the freeway. The vehicle sustained extensive rear-end damage and was subsequently determined to be a total loss. None of the airbags deployed during the collision. Immediately after the crash, I believe I may have briefly seen an airbag-related warning or message on the instrument panel. However, I was extremely shaken at the time and cannot confirm the exact warning or wording that appeared. The rear of the vehicle was severely damaged. After the collision, I observed an exposed component in the damaged rear area that appeared to be associated with the vehicle's sensor or safety system, and this area had been directly impacted in the collision. I cannot independently confirm whether this component is an airbag/crash sensor. I am concerned about whether the airbag/SRS system functioned as designed during this collision. The vehicle damage has been documented with photographs, and the crash was documented by law enforcement. I am submitting this complaint so that NHTSA can evaluate whether the airbag/SRS system operated properly and whether there may be a safety-related defect.

On September 17, 2026, my 2018 Nissan was involved in a severe rear-end collision on a freeway. The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was declared a total loss. None of the airbags deployed. I am concerned that the airbag/SRS system may not have functioned as designed. After the collision, I observed exposed components in the severely damaged rear area. I cannot confirm whether these components were part of the airbag or crash sensor system. Immediately after the collision, I believe I may have briefly seen an airbag-related warning or message on the instrument panel. I was shaken after the crash and cannot confirm the exact message. I experienced back pain, mild dizziness, and a nosebleed following the collision and subsequently sought medical treatment. The crash was documented by the California Highway Patrol, and the vehicle was also inspected/documented for the insurance claim. The vehicle has not, to my knowledge, been inspected by Nissan specifically for the airbag/SRS issue. I am requesting an investigation into whether the airbag/SRS system functioned properly during this collision.

Check engine light came on. Took car to auto shop and had them use the code reader. The code thrown was for cylinder 1 misfiring. Under further investigation it was found to the valve cover gasket needed replaced. After replacing the valve cover gasket the torque strut mount plugs and engine coils the car seemed to run fine. About 3 hours later the car started having trouble accelerating and the engine started to shake bad. And hour later while at a red light the car stalled out and wouldn't start again. Had to have the car towed. Noticed a good amount of oil leaked in the bottom of the engine.

I am reporting a severe safety hazard and manufacturer database error involving the Takata driver airbag recall on a 2009 Nissan Versa (VIN: [XXX]). The manufacturer’s recall database falsely reports that the driver's airbag recall has been completed, showing zero open recalls for this vehicle. However, a physical inspection of the steering wheel assembly reveals that the original, defective Takata airbag module was never replaced. The physical module currently installed carries part identifier YTYAA270098 and specification code BAM PT1-1085 HERST:2010. The module was physically present but entirely un-hooked and disconnected from the system. The manufacturer's records are incorrect. They indicate a completed remedy while leaving a lethal, shrapnel-producing defective Takata inflator inside the vehicle. Local dealerships refuse to service the vehicle because the corporate database shows a clean VIN report. Nissan Corporate Consumer Affairs has been notified under reference case ref:!XXX :ref, but immediate federal oversight is required to address this dangerous component mismatch. I am the first owner of this car. I noticed the windows would make an air like sound everytime im driving on the freeway. Ive owned many vehicles and have never heard this before. One day, which was yesterday. the window (passenger) was rolled up, and while on the freeway, it exploded all over my friend. nothing made impact, there was no shatter indication. it completely exploded. it turned completely white (a full shatter) in a half a second and shattered. nothing hit the window. the window was rolled up. and my friend was looking out it. my ac was on medium, and it was about 80 degrees. so i dont know if the glass wasnt tempered properly or what. but this was terrifying we got glass in our drinks, we got microcuts all over us. this was traumatic.

I bought my car while living in Florida from a lady that didn't drive it for a while and after I bought it I drove it i drove to Washington two and a half times. before this though it had an airbag safety issue where the airbags didn't deploy and also my gas gauge does not work correctly as well as the suspension, which the coils are not up to codes and regulation also my odometer does not work well period when I got in my car accident my airbags had not deployed which is the safety risk and I looked up online due to the multiple risk zones that I crossed over I know that it is a good chance that I qualify for recalls that maybe it wasn't listed prior to putting up on here because I was unaware of a recall list.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Nissan Versa. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 98,488. It was discovered from a Carfax Report that mileage in 2015 was 96,458, and in the same year in September that the mileage was 42,613. On January 1, 2023, the mileage was 34,483, and the Carfax Report indicated that due to mileage discrepancies, there was possible odometer fraud.

Car jerks and doesn’t go into gear right away. Never know when it will happen. There is a notice from Nissan that it happens because of short in tail light. Happened approx 3 yrs ago and has started again but worse. It is available for inspection No recall but very unsafe. While attempting to cross street it didn’t go into gear and I was almost hit. Also almost rear ended cause driver behind me didn’t expect me to not go into gear Took in 3 yrs ago and tail light fixed. Now new mechanic tried fixing it but it only worked about a week. Have to take it back in so he can try fixing it again. Same code keeps coming up Check engine light came on and off for last three weeks. Doesn’t stay on so I can’t tell when it will happen. Very dangerous! Should be recalled

The contact's daughter owns a 2014 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made abnormal sounds, failed to accelerate while turning, and shuddered abnormally. The RPM remained steady with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and it was determined that the wheel bearing and continuously variable transmission (CVT) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 59,200.

I am submitting a vehicle safety complaint regarding my 2011 Nissan Versa SL. VIN: [XXX] Incident Date: XXX Time: Approximately 7:30 a.m. While driving to work and making a right turn from [XXX] onto [XXX], the driver-side airbag suddenly deployed without a collision or impact. Prior to the deployment, the vehicle experienced abnormal electrical symptoms involving the steering wheel. The horn had previously stopped working and later began sounding continuously. After the airbag deployed, I noticed a burning odor, and approximately 20 minutes later, the inside of the steering-wheel/airbag area was still very hot. I disconnected the negative battery cable as a safety precaution. My insurance company referred the vehicle to Caliber Collision, where an SRS diagnostic scan showed: B1049 – CURRENT – Driver Airbag Module OPEN B1057 – CURRENT – Driver Airbag Module SHORT B1050/B1055 – HISTORY – Driver Airbag VB-SHORT B1051/B1056 – HISTORY – Driver Airbag GND-SHORT B1013 – HISTORY – Control Unit I photographed the scan results. Caliber informed me that they do not repair this type of SRS/electrical malfunction. I am concerned that an airbag deployed without a crash or impact while the vehicle was in motion, accompanied by abnormal electrical symptoms and multiple SRS fault codes. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this incident as a potential vehicle safety defect and determine whether similar incidents have been reported involving the 2011 Nissan Versa or related SRS components. In July 2024 my airbag light came for no apparent reason. I took it to Nissan Service-they got it off with no guarantee it would stay off and said the airbag would have to be replaced if it came on again. In came on again in June 2026. I got my oil changed at a local shop and they got the light off verifying it was the L side airbag causing it to flash. That lasted about 2 months and it is flashing again. I got it off turning the key on and off 3 times. I am not 100% sure the airbag would work if needed. Nissan wants thousands of dollars to fix it. I wonder why this hasn't been a recall.Many Nissan owners have had the same issue.

Issue: The rear windshield suddenly imploded while the defroster was turned on while on the road, causing significant fear and glass debris. We were driving when it happened, sending glass all on the road. Photos are available. It's currently at the dealership, awaiting repair. The car has only been inspected by the dealer as far as I am aware. There was no warning messages or lights prior to shattering, only a strong electrical burning smell moments beforehand.

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that while driving 3 MPH, the front driver’s side air bag unexpectedly deployed. The contact was left with a bruised face and a nosebleed from the air bag deployment. The contact used tissues to stop the nosebleed, but no medical attention was sought. The contact stated that after the failure, while starting the vehicle, the horn would activate unless the brake pedal was depressed. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V349000 (Air Bags). The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

I’m [XXX] with health issues and my mother is [XXX] we bought a car at ( Drive Time ) hoping we would get a good car to go to the dr , I have a [XXX] I can’t afford it though,in my opinion I felt drive time took advantage of us because I look Mexican and indigenous, they sold us a bad car where the engine was bad , as soon as I drove it there’s was a smell I didn’t think k anything about it but the manager at pep boys in pearland tx told me the reason I smelt something is because some liquids were mixing in the engine that are highly toxic when the engine is about to fail , drivetime would not take the car back and get us a good car, I found Nissan Clearlake and they put a new engine in the care I’m thankful but now it has something worse , I was in the freeway and the engine light came on malfunction the car would not move but the engine was still on , it was s wry I had to coast to the side to turn the engine off than turn on and it started , it’s doing this once a day , now Nissan wants to keep it a few days to see what’s wrong because they don’t see isn’t trouble I don’t have money for a rental we need to go to the dr INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

POWER TRAIN
At approximately 135,000 miles my automatic transmission began "slipping" or lurching while accelerating. I took the car to a Nissan dealership, as well as 2 local mechanics, and all 3 sources have told me that my transmission is having identical symptoms to the recalled Versa models that previously had transmission issues. I'm now forced to replace the transmission before it hopefully goes out completely (the CVT). The problem has been diagnosed and reproduced by 3 separate auto mechanic shops, including one Nissan dealership in Colerain, Ohio. There have been absolutely no warning lights, messages, or signals from the car. When I accelerate from a stop, the car lurches at about 20-25 MPH. When I'm driving on the highway at a steady, high speed, I don't have the issue.
