Saturday night, [XXX], my family went out to dinner and took my elderly father ([XXX]), who sits in the front seat when we go out together. Upon returning to his home, he got out, and we drove back to our home, approximately 2 minutes away. My husband parked the car, turned off the engine and while we were exiting the vehicle, the now empty passenger seat headrest popped open with a loud bang. Had my father still been sitting there, he would have been injured. I contacted customer care this morning with my concerns and was told that although they are aware of the problem, there was nothing they could do about the repair as the extended warranty period had ended. I had no notification of such an issue or related warranty as I purchased the vehicle in July of 2022. The warranty period was still active at the time of purchase. The airbag warning lamp is illuminated on the dashboard of my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Limited 4WD, 3.6L V6). A Jeep dealer (Lee Dodge, Westbrook, Maine) diagnosed the problem as fault code B0020-13, a driver-side frontal airbag squib circuit fault, and stated that the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners may not deploy in a crash. The dealer quoted $3,442.35 for the repair and denied goodwill coverage. I opened a case with Jeep corporate on October 8, 2026 (case number [XXX], case manager Kenneth) and sent follow-up emails on October 10, 12, and 14, and left multiple voicemails; Jeep corporate has not responded. No crash, fire, injury, or fatality has occurred. This is a report of a safety defect, and the manufacturer has been unresponsive. Approximate vehicle mileage: 42,000. The dealer and Corporate Partner are refusing to perform the federally mandated Z46 safety recall (NHTSA 22V406) on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee until they replace the supply line for a $1000, because they said it rotted/rusted. This factory supply line is made of nylon plastic and cannot rust. I suggest it blew out as part of a failing HPFP covered under the recall, and they misdiagnosed it. Furthermore, the technician and service advisor stated that they had not checked for any metal as part of the recall. I have asked for legal documentation for the estimate of parts and labor for the replacement of said supply line and have not received it.

Dealer illegally refused to complete recall repairs. Lakeshore Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat located at 330 E Howze Beach Rd Slidell, LA 70461 refused to complete recall repairs for manufacturer recall 66A, NHTSA recall number 23V-411. While traveling for work out of state the vehicle suddenly died and would not start due to the loss of signal for the crankshaft position sensor. this happened late on [XXX] and transportation could not be arranged until Friday. The vehicle was trailered and brought from Texas to the Slidell dealership on Monday June 9 2025. The service department informed us they did not do recall repairs on the EcoDiesels unless they had sold it to us directly. They said this was because it takes too long to do the repairs and customers get upset over the wait and that they did not want to loan vehicles for extended periods of time not knowing how long it would take to complete the work if parts were back ordered. We had to have the repairs completed at an independent repair shop and paid out of pocket for the repairs and the transport of the vehicle from Texas to Slidell, Louisiana where we reside. I am reporting a serious safety concern involving the transmission/power train of my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited, VIN [XXX], with fewer than 80,000 miles. The transmission failed suddenly when I was approximately one minute away from entering a highway. The vehicle became inoperable and left me stranded in an isolated area with little or no cellular reception, and I had to find assistance. Had the transmission failed one minute later while I was traveling at highway speed, I could have been seriously injured or killed. I could have died because of this failure. Or I could've killed or injured someone else on the road. There were no meaningful warning lamps, dashboard messages, or other advance warnings that alerted me that a complete transmission failure was imminent. The transmission failure was confirmed through the repair process by the service facility that repaired the vehicle. The transmission has already been repaired, and I have repair invoices, diagnostic records, and service documentation available upon request. I was without my vehicle for nearly one month while the issue was being addressed. The vehicle has not, to my knowledge, been inspected by Jeep/Stellantis in connection with this safety complaint. I contacted Jeep Customer Care and specifically reported this as a safety concern, but I was told that a claim could not be opened or assigned to a case manager because the vehicle is no longer under warranty. I work from home, drive the vehicle relatively little, keep my vehicles in very good condition, and have completed required maintenance. Despite this, the transmission failed before 80,000 miles. I have also experienced radiator/cooling-system failure, a failed brake caliper & repeated brake/rotor issues. I am asking NHTSA to document and review this sudden transmission failure and determine whether it is consistent with other known safety-related transmission problems involving the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. - #11767124September 26, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
After turning into a parking lot and VERY slowly turning right to enter a designated parking space my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee suddenly, with no warning or prompting, highly accelerated forward causing the Jeep to jump up over the curb, ran over a bush which lifted the left side front tire off the ground, continued high acceleration forward making an immediate and abrupt stop colliding into an eletrical power pole at the right front end, both airbags deployed. This happen in a moment's time with no time to react, distance from acceleration to impact with electrical pole approximately 12 feet. No passengers, the driver received contusions and abraisions. 911 was called, local city police responded & report written, Ambulance called to assist injured driver, tow truck transported Jeep to requested Body Shop, Insurance company notified. Jeep released from Body Shop transported by Insurance Company for Inspection. Had the accleration not stopped due to collision with power pole the vehicle would have entered and crossed a 5 lane main street against traffic directions at a stoplight which could have resulted in many collisions and injuries to other motorists. Insurance company has totaled the vehicle and unknown if inspection(s) have been completed by all interested parties. Owner/Driver has not been notified of any further inspection results.

While maneuvering in a parking garage and switching between reverse and forward, the engine suddenly and unprompted revved excessively, sounding as though the accelerator pedal was floored. The vehicle forcefully lunged forward against braking pressure into a cement wall, causing front-end damage to the vehicle. Cruise control was completely disabled and no check engine light or warning indicators illuminated on the dashboard. At no time did I feel like I had control over the car. I sustained some contusions. No one was in the vicinity at the time; however, other cars and/or people could have been struck. The vehicle has yet to be examined by anyone although I am in the process of arranging for an autobody repair shop. Prior to this, the car was in its usual state of health without any issues.

This complaint is being filed regarding a failed and botched remedy of two federal safety recalls: the Crankshaft Position Sensor recall and Safety Recall Z46 (High-Pressure Fuel Pump) on my Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel. The vehicle was delivered to Kendall DCJR of Soldotna, AK for the recall services. The technician performed the recalls, but the high-pressure fuel pump failed immediately, resulting in systemic fuel leaking directly into the engine's crankcase oil pan. The fuel contamination thinned the motor oil, dropped oil pressure, caused the oil filter to collapse, and resulted in a catastrophically blown motor.Physical inspection confirms the entire fuel system is filled with destructive metal shavings and debris ("glitter") from the disintegrating pump, requiring a complete replacement of all fuel components and the engine assembly. The vehicle has been rendered entirely undrivable and has been sitting out of service at the authorized dealer for over 30 cumulative days. The manufacturer (Stellantis/Jeep) has failed to provide a safe, effective, and timely remedy for these safety recalls, and is refusing to issue a Corporate Rental Authorization (CRA) or alternative transportation while my vehicle remains grounded due to the safety defect's failure. This is a complete failure to execute a federal safety recall remedy in a reasonable timeframe.

I am the original owner / a loyal Jeep owner and have taken excellent care of the vehicle. Right now, the leather on my upper dashboard is completely bubbling, shrinking, and pulling away from the defroster vents. This is creating a serious visibility issue due to glare, and it prevents the defroster from blowing air effectively, which I feel is a major safety hazard. I am fully aware that the original warranty and the limited X81 extension program have technically expired. However, this issue began only a few months ago and because this is a well-documented manufacturing defect specific to the leather dashboards on 2011-2014 Overlands and Summits, I am requesting corporate goodwill assistance to cover the cost of the replacement. Can we please open a customer assistance case to review this issue.

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee suffered a total intake manifold failure directly resulting from a secondary breakdown of Safety Recall W79 (NHTSA Campaign 20V-699). Physical teardown at an independent facility exposed a 70% engine runner restriction and seized glow plugs due to volatile exhaust sulfur, creating an active fire risk. On July 9, 2026, LaFontaine Fenton was presented with clear mechanical photos and a continuous 2023 dealer repair loop under Customer ID [XXX], but formally refused to open a corporate STAR Case or dispatch flatbed transport to remedy this active safety defect. The vehicle has a severe, life-threatening safety defect where it randomly drops into neutral while driving at speed, physically locks the shifter, and actively engages the electronic braking system on its own, stranding me in active traffic. I brought the vehicle to a certified Jeep dealership to resolve this exact symptom. They misdiagnosed the vehicle and charged me nearly $3,000 to replace the valve body and connectors. The dangerous symptom remains completely unchanged, meaning the vehicle is unsafe to operate and the manufacturer-certified repair facility has failed to remedy a critical safety defect. The issue hasn’t been fixed and it has been 5-6 months.

My passenger seat headrest popped open without any incident or warning and the clip is broken. Air bag deployed from head rest. There was a warranty in place that expired in 2024 but mine just happened while I was driving. It scared me and caused me to swerve. It’s a known issue. Why no recall for safety? Dealership wants to charge 1100 to fix a defect.

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee suddenly developed a no-start condition after previously operating normally. The vehicle would crank but would not start. The battery and fuel injectors were checked and replaced as needed, but the problem persisted. Based on the symptoms and known issues affecting 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees, the internal fuel pump relay/TIPM is suspected. This defect has been the subject of previous safety recalls because it can cause engine stalling or a no-start condition. Although my vehicle is not currently included in an open recall, it is experiencing the same type of failure. A failure of the fuel pump relay can leave a vehicle stranded or cause the engine to stall unexpectedly, creating a serious safety hazard if it occurs while driving. I believe this issue should be investigated to determine whether additional vehicles should be covered by the recall.

My Son just bought the car from a private party. On our way home the engine light and a lightning bolt icon illuminated on the dash, followed by the vehicle going into limp mode. We had the vehicle scanned for codes and it came back with P0336 (crankshaft position sensor performance). After much investigation online, we found out that this is a known issue with the crankshaft position sensor and, most importantly, the tone wheel on the back of the engine. We looked up recalls on the vehicle and found a safety recall had been issued. While some vehicles affected received replacement of the tone wheel and sensor, others just received a software update. This particular vehicle received the software update. The issue is that the magnetic material on the tone wheel delaminates from the tone wheel. This is a costly repair that should have been fixed correctly from the beginning, not just a software patch. It is a safety concern because it is dangerous when you are traveling at highway speeds and it goes into limp mode.
