The contact owns a 2013 Jaguar XK. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly misfired and then stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the vehicle then went into misfire mode. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the left-side fuel injector had experienced a major misfire and fuel leakage was found on the left side of the engine. The contact was informed that the left fuel injector needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,418.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
On at least 3 occasions, my vehicle had unintended acceleration and applying brakes did not stop the car. I put it in park to stop. I took it to the Foreign performance (mechanic shop) on 11-29-23 after the first time and they said they fixed it. It occurred again on 12-8-23. I again threw it into park. I called the shop on 12-11-23 and they agreed to see it on 12-12-23. I hit a car on 12-11-23 around 11:45 am coming out of my driveway. I had my car towed to mechanic. The other car did not need to be towed. On 12-20-23, Foreign Performance wrote: "Vehicle is driving normally at this time. Checked for any set faults, none stored. Tested the function of the accelerator pedal and the throttle body. Both function normally. There are no bulletin issues by the manufacturer for this problem related to this vehicle. Called the dealership to ask what they are doing to fix this problem with uncontrolled acceleration. They claim to never heard of such a problem and that they no longer work on these vehicles. The problem is well documented nationally and has existed since the vehicle was first produced. Bottom line is that the manufacturer and dealerships have washed their hands on the vehicle. The only advise to give would be to replace the accelerator pedal assembly, the throttle body and the engine control module all together and then program the engine control module to the highest level that is available. Vehicle should not be driven by the customer." Foreign Performance said they would not guarantee my vehicle would never do this again after their recommended repairs of $4027.91. It was Christmas, I was leaving on a planned vacation for two weeks and it was complicated so the vehicle is still at Foreign Performance and no work has been done so all components are available for inspection. No warning lights. Police and State Farm insurance have been involved. Needs body work as well after MVA--estimate of $1100 per state farm.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
My wife parked the car in the garage and we noticed a puddle of gas below the car. After determining that we had a real issue we had it towed to an independent service provider. After inspection by the mechanic he noted that the plastic retainer clip on the fuel pump flange (Jaguar Part C2P24406) was broken allowing the fuel line to come out of the fuel pump/filter flange (see photo) and just pumped gas onto the cars undercarriage and ground. Luckily, this must have happened right before she came home. In the initial diagnosis of the problem by me I ended up starting the car in the garage and it just pumped about a gallon of gas onto the garage floor. By the way, just opening the driver's door activates the fuel pump -- so without even starting the car it would pump gas onto the car/garage floor. I was extremely worried that there would be a fire or explosion (possibly by the hot water heater in the garage igniting the fumes). After the mechanic informed me of the problem, I searched and noted that the 2010/11 Jaguar XF had a very similar (if not exact) problem and was recalled for this issue. There were no indicator lights/warnings of this problem occurring. I did not file an insurance claim or have anyone else look at the problem. I initially called the local Tucson Jaguar dealer to have it service there (that would be my preference), but the dealer informed me that it would be a month before they could even look at. Thus, I had it towed to a independent service provider. I feel this was a very dangerous failure -- gas pouring out onto the car and ground near the exhaust -- and that we were very lucky to avoid a catastrophic fire or explosion. I feel the issue is the same or related to the 2010/11 recall of the Jaguar XF. I have attached pictures of the defective fuel pump flange taken off my car and a picture of what it should look like. I also added the mechanics invoice for the repair work.

The contact owns a 2010 Jaguar XK. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, she smelled an abnormally strong gasoline odor. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle. The contact also stated there was gasoline was leaking underneath the passenger’s side door. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and had the vehicle towed to the dealer for the diagnostic test and repair; however, the manufacturer called back and informed the contact that they would no longer cover the repair of the vehicle because the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

PARKED IN THE GARAGE, SOMETIME FOR A FEW DAYS OR THE NEXT DAY, THE CAR WILL NOT START ON OCCASIONS. NO SLOW STARTING OR CLICKING OF A BAD BATTERY, JUST A HUMMING THEN NOTHING. NO REASON FOR THE FAILURE. DOESN'T ACT LIKE A LOW BATTERY. I CHARGED THE BATTERY, AND JUMPED IT WITH NO SUCCESS. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS I WOULD GO INSIDE AND RETURNED IN 30 MINUTES OR SO,TRY AGAIN; SOMETIME IT WOULD START. AFTER SEVERAL TIMES, IN THE PAST TWO YEARS, OF THE CAR NOT STARTING I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY; SAME THING. I DO NOTHING TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, OTHER THAN WAIT A BIT AND TRY AGAIN. MY ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO OFTEN. MANY PEOPLE HAVE THERE CAR TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIND NOTHING. IT JUST STARTS WITHOUT ANY SERVICE, AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOPS AND DEALERSHIPS COULDN'T FIND WHAT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO FAIL TO START OCCASIONALLY. I NOTICED THAT IF IT WON'T START AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, I GO AWAY FOR A WHILE AND TRY AGAIN. FOR UNKNOWN REASONS THE CAR WILL START; SOMETIME ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND COULD BE COSTLY FOR THOSE NOT PATIENT ENOUGH TO TRY AGAIN AND AGAIN.

WHEELS
OBD2 SCAN SHOWS THAT THE RUN FLAT TIRES ARE NOT BEING PROTECTED BY A LOW INFLATION WARNING THAT HAS BEEN DISABLED FOR THE VEHICLE. THE RECALL #09V161000 IS REVEALED BY THE OBD2 COMPUTER REPORT SAYING THAT THERE IS A RECALL AND PROVIDING THIS INFO. THE MANUFACTURE MAKES CLAIM THERE IS NOT CURRENT RECALL. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS CONFIRMED BY NHTSA.

WE WERE DRIVING DOWN INTER=STATE 101 WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ENGINE BEGAN SPUDDERING AND STOPPED RIGHT BY AN EXIT. WE PUSHED THE CAR IN FRONT OF AN MC DONALDS..ALL OF THE OIL POURED OUT OF THE ENGINE.WE HAD IT TOWED BENEDETTI BROS REPAIR ON SEBASTOPOL CALIF..THEY STATED THE MAIN OIL HOSE EXPLODED AND RUINED THE ENGINE..THEY DID STATE THAT THIS VERY SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR HAD A RECALL FOR THIS VERY REASON..I RETURNED MY CAR TO JAQUAR OF MARIN IN CORTE MADERO CALIF WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND TO NO AVAIL COULD I GET IT REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL..I WROTE TO WASH DC AND TO NEW JERSEY AND WAS TURNED DOWN BY BOTH AGENCY,S..EVEN THOUGH THIS VIN NUMBER WASN'T COVERED I THINK IT IS DEPLORABLE THAT THE VERY SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY CAR WHICH WAS THE SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR THAT JAQUAR RECALLED..PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHY? THE FUEL LINE BECAME DISCONNECTED FROM THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL LEAKED ONTO THE ASPHALT. . THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. IT WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER WHO FOUND THAT THE CONNECTION POINT OF THE FUEL LINE ON THE "TOP HAT"HAD OPENED AND THAT THE TOP HAT WAS DAMAGED. THIS CONNECTION IS AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AND WAS NEVER SERVICED, IT APPEARS THAT THE.CONNECTION FAILED DUE THE POLYMER MATERIAL DETERIORATING AND CRACKING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JAGUAR XK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. AN UNKNOWN DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE OXYGEN SENSORS BEING DEFECTIVE. THE SENSORS WERE REPLACED TWICE. THE FAILURE BEGAN AFTER ADDING O'REILLYS OCTANE BOOSTER TO THE FUEL TANK. WHILE USING A FUNNEL THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THERE WAS A SEDIMENT IN THE CONTAINER AFTER IT WAS ADDED TO THE FUEL TANK. HE WAS ADVISED BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE SEDIMENT WAS PAINT THINNER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEFECT RENDERS THE AUTOMOBILE UNABLE TO RELIABLY START AND DEPRIVES THE OWNER OF THE UTILITY OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,700.

THIS IS A SIMILAR AIRBAG SAFETY ISSUE AS OCCURRED IN A PRIOR RECALL ON LAND ROVER (RECALL #P045). THE WIRING THAT CONNECTS THE CLOCK SPRING ROTARY COUPLER TO THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MODULE FRACTURES AS A RESULT OF RELATIVE MOTION BETWEEN THE ROTARY COUPLER AND THE STEERING WHEEL HUB. THE RELATIVE MOTION OF THE STEERING WHEEL CREATED INTERNAL FRICTION WITHIN THE ROTARY COUPLER ASSEMBLY AND/OR FRICTION CAUSED BY CONTACT OF THE STEERING COLUMN COWL AGAINST THE ROTARY COUPLER. THE CABLING FOR THE ROTARY COUPLER HAS FRACTURED AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON. JAGUAR DEALER HAS INDICATED THE FRACTURE WILL INTERFERE WITH THE AIRBAGS PROPER DEPLOYMENT.

THIS CAR (AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHER SPORTS CARS) COMES WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE TIRES WITH SO LITTLE TRACTION IN RAIN AND SNOW THAT THEY TOTALLY DEFEAT THE PURPOSE OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEMS. THESE TIRES ARE SO SMOOTH THAT THEY WILL HYDRO-PLANE AT 30 MPH DURING A HARD RAIN. IN ONLY INCH OF SNOW, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEMS DO NOT WORK AT ALL DO TO THE TOTAL ABSENCE OF TRACTION. ABOVE 5 MPH IN INCH OF SNOW THERE IS NO STEERING CONTROL AS THERE IS NOT ENOUGH TRACTION. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MANDATING ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND STABILITY CONTROL WHEN YOU LET MANUFACTURERS PUT TIRES ON THE CAR THAT DEFEAT THEM IN ORDINARY DRIVING CONDITIONS? RAIN AND SNOW ARE NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS IN MOST OF THE US. THE CAD COMES WITH A HEATED WINDSHIELD, HEATING SEATS, HEATED STEERING WHEEL, HEATED SIDE MIRRORS AND A WINTER DRIVING MODE FOR THE TRANSMISSION, ALL INDICATING THAT THIS CAR IS MADE FOR WINTER DRIVING, YET IT IS TOTALLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN THE WINTER. THE TIRES ARE INTENDED TO BE SAFE AT 155 MPH (THE CAR'S MAX SPEED), YET THERE IS NO STATE IN THE COUNTRY WITH SPEED LIMITS WITHIN 70 MPH OF THAT. HOW DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE? MOST CONSUMERS DRIVE FAR MORE OFTEN IN RAIN AND SNOW THAN WE DO AT 150 MPH IN PERFECT CONDITIONS. PLEASE MANDATE SAFE TIRES ON NEW CARS. I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES ON GRADES AS LOW A 1% AND IN TRYING TO TURN CORNERS WITH ONLY INCH OF SNOW ON THE GROUND. I HAD TO STOP DRIVING IT ALL WINTER. *TR
