I have had 2 catalytic converters the original and a 2nd one. Now I need a 3rd due to excessive oil consumption. Corporate did a good will for a combustion cleaning and that did nothing. The dealership checked my oil and said there was excessive oil consumption and submitted for an engine replacement and it was rejected. Absolutely ridiculous.

The new 2019 Hyundai Tucson equipped with the Nu2.0L GDI engine, I purchased in 1/2020 as the original owner to this day has been diagnosed with a burnt exhaust valve due to heavy oil consumption that has been an uncorrected documented manufacturer’s defect within Hyundai motor corporation. The excessive engine oil consumption has poisoned and destroyed the first catalytic converter, has fouled the combustion chamber which has consequently choked and burnt the exhaust valve with the excess oil ash and carbon buildup. The car was approved for a second catalytic converter install last week which my car currently sits at 125,000 miles and the dealership through the authority of approval with Hyundai motor America has replaced under warranty however subsequently running the excess consumption test, the car now has a burnt exhaust valve which Hyundai motor America is extending a “good faith” proposal which they are willing to replace 60% of the burnt valve and I’m responsible for the 40% even though I have complied fully with the dealership’s recommended preventive maintenance schedule which has been solely performed at the same dealership since the day I bought the car and drove off the lot up until the 100K mile warranty. And now discovering my particular motor has been extended to the 15/150,000 warranty due to the lawsuit settlement. I have continued with my diligence with keeping up with the oil, instead of ignoring the issue that the car burns excessive oil to potentially has the engine fail while driving to be fully covered on the rod bearing failure settlement. Help in my concerns would be greatly appreciated through NHTSA.

While going down the highway at around 72 mph , my car went into limp mode. I was unable to accelerate, the brake and wheel locked. And then the engine light began flashing. The limp mode , non acceleration, and flashing engine light have happened twice before this instance. The first two times the pulled the P1326 knock sensor code and replaced it. Did the update, and sent me on my way saying it was fine. Now this most recent time (the 3rd time), the engine has failed. A CARFAX report says my car already had the engine replaced at 52k miles, meaning there’s 1 something internally wrong and 2 it’s still well within mileage warranty for another engine replacement. This car is extremely dangerous as it can literally stop in the middle of the highway. I went from 72 to about 15 mph in seconds, I was unable to get over or accelerate. It was terrifying. Now dealing with Hyundai - they don’t want to take fault.

Summary of Safety Defect: The rear center seat belt female buckle assembly is severely crushed due to a design or clearance defect. This damage occurs during normal use when folding down the rear seats. The vehicle is nearly brand new, and the rear seats have only been folded down twice. When the male end is inserted, it will latch into the crushed female housing but immediately becomes permanently stuck. Safety Risk: In the event of an accident or emergency evacuation, an occupant restrained in the rear center seat could become trapped in the vehicle due to the jammed buckle mechanism. Alternatively, the compromised plastic and metal casing could fail entirely under the stress of a crash, leading to structural breakdown of the restraint and potential occupant ejection. Additionally, this defect completely removes the vehicle's utility for a family of five. Because the middle seat cannot be safely utilized, I am unable to transport my family of five safely. Dealer / Manufacturer Actions: The vehicle was presented to D'Arcy Hyundai for diagnosis and repair. The service department denied warranty coverage, claiming the component suffered "external damage" rather than a manufacturing defect. This decision was escalated directly to Hyundai Corporate, who reviewed the dealer’s findings and formally backed the denial of coverage. A review of online consumer forums reveals that this is a widespread design flaw reported by many other Hyundai owners facing similar buckle damage from normal seat operation. The manufacturer refuses to acknowledge that standard operation of the folding seats directly damages their own critical safety components.

Pulled out of a parking lot into the street and there was an unusual clunking noise coming from the drivetrain of the car. Had the car towed to the dealer for diagnostics. The diagnosis from the Dealer was the transfer case splines no longer are engaging with the transmission. This problem is already known to the Manufacture and for some reason nothing has been done to address the safety issue.

I own a 2026 Hyundai Tucson Limited and am reporting extremely poor daytime visibility of the entire lower row of touch-sensitive controls on the center dashboard. The illuminated symbols and status indicators are so dim in normal daylight, and especially in bright sunlight, that they are difficult to see while driving. This includes the climate controls and heated/ventilated seat controls. The ventilated-seat control is a particularly concerning example because I can press the control but cannot reliably determine whether it is OFF, LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH without looking closely at the panel. The controls function properly, but their status is essentially invisible in daylight, requiring the driver to divert their attention from the road. Increasing the vehicle’s interior/instrument illumination does not adequately correct the problem. This appears to be an illumination/design issue affecting the new\-generation Tucson, rather than a failure unique to my vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the inadequate daytime visibility of these controls as a potential driver distraction and safety concern.

2023 Hyundai Tucson Limited, 2.5L GDI, Alabama-built (VIN 5NMXXXXXXXXXXXXXX), built [XXX]. On [XXX], at about 37,550 miles, the check engine light came on flashing and the engine ran rough while I was traveling in Canada. My scan tool showed P0300, P0302 and P0304 (misfires on cylinders 2 and 4). On July 6, 2026, Experience Hyundai in Charlottetown, PE (service order 92XXX) replaced one ignition coil under warranty. No fuel injector leak test was performed. The misfires returned. On [XXX], at 39,409 miles, my scan showed P0302 active and P0304 pending. The car also had extended cranking after sitting and the check engine light was on. I was told I could keep driving the car unless it started to jerk or engine light started to flash, then immediately stop driving it and have it towed. On September 25, 2026, the car was towed to McGovern Hyundai Route 2, Leominster, MA (invoice 148XXX). The dealer found all 4 fuel injectors leaking and replaced them under warranty with injector service kit 35399-2S133QQH. My vehicle is outside the production range of Hyundai TSBs 23-FL-002H-1 and 26-FL-001H, which cover this injector failure only for Alabama-built Tucsons produced through July 11, 2022. Yet it failed in the same way. I am concerned the defect extends beyond the bulletin dates and that a sudden misfire could cause loss of power in traffic. There is no recall for this condition. The dealer found all 4 fuel injectors leaking, even though only cylinders 2 and 4 had set misfire codes and replaced them under warranty with injector service kit 35399-2S133QQH. On three occasions my car suddenly stopped transferring power by not accelerating when the gas pedal was pressed. The first time the engine light came on and when I brought it for service they said it was a sensor covered by warranty and repaired it. The second time it happened while I was trying to merge with traffic on the highway. I took an exit and managed to get to the dealer. They replaced the fuel injector and fuel line. The third time, first the car struggled to start after work. Then, I was pulling out of the parking lot, crossing a very busy road. The car could barely get up to and past 20 mph. Once I got it to 35 or so, I stayed on local roads with my hazards on, and managed to get it to the dealer. No engine light came on and they haven’t been able to replicate the issue. This is a very serious safety concern! I am afraid to drive it now since the car can stop without warning and without any brake lights coming on. I am fully covered by warranty but am worried they won’t want to cover the cost to make my vehicle safe. Google shows engine problems like this as one of the known issues on the 2022 Tucson Limited.

Failed Component: Engine assembly / internal powertrain (specifically, a connecting rod bearing failure in cylinder #2 causing severe engine knocking and risk of mechanical seizure). The vehicle is available for inspection, the complete vehicle and affected engine assembly are intact and available for inspection upon request at CMA's Hyundai of Lexington Park: [XXX] Safety Risk: A rod bearing failure causes violent engine knocking, severe loss of engine power, and eventual engine seizure or stalling while driving. Losing propulsion unexpectedly—especially at highway speeds or in heavy traffic—creates an immediate collision risk for the vehicle occupants and surrounding traffic due to sudden loss of power, power steering, and power brake assistance. The issue was formally diagnosed and confirmed by an authorized Hyundai dealership service department. The technician performed a physical diagnostic evaluation and officially documented a knocking condition resulting from a connecting rod bearing failure in cylinder #2. Symptoms & Timeline: Initial engine knocking noises first appeared on XXX. The vehicle was previously updated with Hyundai's Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) Product Improvement Campaign, which is intended to detect excessive vibration from rod bearing wear prior to catastrophic failure. No check engine light illumination occurred or and type of indication from the vehicle there was something wrong other than the knocking noises. While driving my 2025 Hyundai Tucson hybrid in traffic, the car suddenly would not accelerate normally when I pressed the accelerator. I was frightened and concerned because I was in active traffic and could not make the car accelerate any faster. I turned on my hazard lights, cut the car completely off, and then restarted it. After restarting, driving returned to normal. The first time it happened, the problem went away after restarting. I thought that I may have done something wrong. The same problem happened again many weeks later. I called Oxmoor Hyundai to explain that I believed this was a safety issue. I had to wait more than 30 days for a service appointment. The dealership kept my car for approximately 18 days while trying to diagnose the problem. Ultimately, I was told that they were unable to reproduce the loss of acceleration problem without the cause being identified or repaired. I contacted Hyundai corporate customer care about the unresolved problem and was advised to schedule an appointment with a different Hyundai dealership for another evaluation. The second dealership had my car for an extended period (9/15 - 9/29), but was also unable to reproduce or identify the case. Hyundai customer care has been involved throughout this process and is aware that the problem is not fixed. They asked me to take the car to a different dealership for evaluation. I don't recall seeing a warning light or dashboard message before losing acceleration. The problem is intermittent. I am concerned that this could happen again, and the sudden inability to accelerate in traffic could put me or others at risk. I can provide the car for inspection on request.

- #11768144September 30, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE, BACK OVER PREVENTION
The contact leases a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving 72 MPH, the adaptive cruise control deactivated, and the vehicle decelerated unintendedly to 60 MPH. The messages "Front Assist Collision Warning" and "Front Assist Collision Limited" were displayed. The contact stated that while reversing, the vehicle stopped abruptly, jerking the driver back and forth. Additionally, the Rear Cross-Traffic Alert system was intermittently inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the front camera software was updated under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V316000 (Forward Collision Avoidance); however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the front camera underneath the bumper was found slanted; the camera was adjusted; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that there was an abnormal humming sound coming from the radio. The manufacturer was notified of the failures several times and referred the contact back to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.

There was/is a recall #290 on the tow hitch harness. There was a concern of a fire risk. Hyundai’s remedy was to cut the harness making the tow hitch unusable. This has been since March. The NHTSA is not putting any pressure on Hyundai to replace the harness. The nHTSA doesn’t acknowledge that this recall is still open. All consumers like me who purchased this option can not use it due to the NHTSA recall. How can I get this issue addressed and resolved. It seams like no one is interested in addressing this problem

An authorized Hyundai dealership performed a major engine replacement on my vehicle on June 11, 2024. The vehicle mileage was documented as 110,797 miles in and 111,799 miles out. In September 2026, after the vehicle had reached 129,430 miles, I brought it to an authorized Hyundai dealership because of a severe gasoline odor and evidence of gasoline entering the engine oil. The dealership documented the vehicle at 129,430 miles in and 129,431 miles out. The documented mileage from the 2024 engine replacement's out-mileage of 111,799 to the September 2026 diagnostic in-mileage of 129,430 is 18,633 miles. The vehicle was returned to me, but the fuel/oil contamination condition recurred within approximately 48 hours. The oil level subsequently increased substantially. I repeatedly requested the dealership's technician narrative, diagnostic findings, test results, and electronic service documentation showing what was inspected, what was tested, and what findings supported the dealership's diagnosis. The dealership performed the work, yet these records have not been provided to me. Hyundai corporate has also not provided the requested documentation and has directed me toward additional diagnostic expense rather than providing the records from the inspection already performed. The 2024 engine-replacement documentation lists the replacement engine and associated service parts, including service kits 21111-2GK50-QQH and 21111-2GK70-QQH, as well as oil-cooler pipe/hose assembly 25470-2G050-QQH. I am requesting that the actual service records establish what components were installed, replaced, transferred, or reused during that repair. I am not claiming that the available information by itself establishes the root cause. My concern is the recurrence of apparent fuel contamination of the engine oil only 18,633 miles after the documented engine-replacement out-mileage, combined with the lack of diagnostic documentation from the authorized dealership's inspection. I am su
