Became aware of a rattle/clunk from right rear area of truck. Tried to find loose item like trailer hitch or item in cargo area but even with everything taken out noise continued. Finally got under the truck’s rear area and started pushing/pulling on things. Immediately found completely missing bolt and rubber cush on right-hand sway bar mount clamp. Sway bar was unanchored and moved freely, banging parts on the rear brake and bearing area. I have photos and video. One bolt still present in clamp: removed that bolt (very easily) and discovered NO thread lock or lock washer. This bolt spun out freely by hand. No lock-tite nor lock washers on left-hand side either. Honda parts sold me a rubber cush and I replaced all bolts INCLUDING thread lock this time. On driving, noticed IMMEDIATELY more stability and far less “head-toss” on normal smooth highway. And no more clunk.

The automatic engine stop/start system is a safety hazard. On multiple occasions with two different drivers (husband and wife owners), the engine has stopped just as the accelerator is pressed after waiting for traffic to clear at a stop sign or while waiting to enter a street from a driveway or parking lot. The delay when expecting the vehicle to accelerate has nearly caused accident(s) several times. Drivers are forced to switch off the automatic stop/start system every time the vehicle is driven since it defaults to active and it is not safe to use. The system should be permanently disabled or at least programmed to be disabled as default when engine is started. This issue was reported to the local Honda dealer during the first routine service--owners were told that nothing could be done by the dealer. The service advisor suggested that we contact manufacturer or NHTSA directly. The incident date and mileage were entered below for yesterday since that was the latest event. It has happened numerous times since the vehicle was purchased in July 2024.

The contact owns a 2024 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle with the auto high beam feature activated, the auto high beam feature malfunctioned, causing the high beam lights to turn off and on independently. The contact stated that the high beam lights were illuminated for more the 8 seconds before deactivating. The contact stated that the failure had created a visibility hazard for the driver. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the failure was due to a faulty multifunction camera. The multifunction camera was replaced but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and determined that the multifunction camera had operated as intended. The failure mileage was 100. The VIN was not available.

Experienced delayed then hard shift into gear when starting from stop this caused the vehicle to sit in road for extended time then lurch forward when it finally went into gear. Also while driving heard a noise then completely lost power and there was no throttle response for 10-20 seconds. This has happened multiple times while driving on busy highway and while trying to change lanes causing the vehicle to slow down considerably before throttle re-engaged.

I own a 2023 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E The Auto High-Beam Headlights do not work. It barely worked the first week, but since then it has not worked. I've had it into the dealer, they say nothing is wrong. Reports online show this is a common issue with Honda Ridgelines since 2020 and has not been addressed.

The truck has had ~6 occurrences since purchased where the engine briefly loses power in highway cruising speeds between ~50 and 75mph At first we thought it was a safety feature or governor on the truck – or a malfunctioning of the Auto-idle. I mentioned the incidents to the dealer service techs where we bought it but there was no awareness or acknowledgement of issues or a safety feature that would do this. This has happened to both my wife and me when driving; we began documenting the events - the last 3 are as follows: [XXX], midday. [XXX], VA, going downhill at ~70 mph, engine began stalling without warning when I eased off the gas to coast briefly downhill in the flow of traffic; steering and brake pedal began to freeze. I gave it gas, pumping the pedal to no immediate effect; a couple of seconds later it recovered and started up; making a loud buzzing noise. I avoided an accident in traffic by not panicking and because the vehicle behind us was not tailgating. [XXX], 7:08 pm. I [XXX] at ~62-65 mph, again in the middle lane cruising with traffic, Auto-idle turned off. When we coasted for a few seconds in the flow, the engine suddenly lost power; would not accelerate or re-engage. After a couple of seconds the engine came back to full power with a slight buzz (high pitch) – not as loud as previous times. [XXX]/ 8:13 pm. On [XXX] going through Jacksonville downtown on the way to the airport. In the middle lane (second over from left lane) at ~60mph the engine started to lose power in spite of my foot being on the gas. I kept the gas applied and the engine power came back. No buzz sound. At ~ 31,531 mile on the odometer. Note that we changed dealers for the service – Honda of the Avenues, and they have had the truck a few times since the [XXX] event. They have been able to pick up one code when scanning the truck – for a “transmission event.” They cannot replicate the event. On multiple occasions at highway speeds when coasting for a few seconds roughly 50mph to 70mph, the truck begins to stall/ lose power. We thought it was related to the Auto-idle feature, but the last two events I had it turned off. This has happened 5 or 6 times to me and my wife since about six months after buying the truck. Four of the events - November 2023: [XXX] in New Jersey at ~50 mph, engine lost power, applying gas did nothing. A few seconds later it regained power and made a buzzing noise. [XXX]: On [XXX] in Virginia, going down hill at ~70 mph, the engine lost power without warning, steering & brake pedal began to freeze up as if the truck was turning off when coasting briefly down with the flow of traffic. I pumped the gas pedal to no avail - a couple of seconds later it recovered and started up - and buzzed loudly. I avoided an accident; luckily the vehicle behind us was not tailgating. No lights or warning appeared on the dash. The dealer scanned the truck's computer and they noted a transmission event code, but nothing more. Could not replicate the issue. [XXX], Jacksonville, FL [XXX] near [XXX] at ~62 mph, in the middle lane with Auto-idle turned off, engine began to lose power briefly with a slight Buzz (high pitch) when it "came back" to full power - again while cruising, almost coasting - to keep pace and distance from the vehicle in front of me. My wife witnessed the event and made note of the time and speed. [XXX], 8:13pm - on [XXX] going through Jax on the way to the airport to pick up my wife. In the middle lane (second over from left lane) at ~60mph started to lose power in spite of my foot being on the gas. I kept the gas applied and the engine power came back. No buzz sound. At ~ 31,531 mile on the odometer. The truck has been back to the dealer 3 times and they cannot replicate the event. The auto-dimming bright lights are too sensitive, going on & off so quickly it creates a hazard to the driver & on-coming traffic. It is almost like a strobe light. These trucks have had this very same problem for years. Please force a fix.

While driving a slow speeds will stall. It has a stalled in the middle of an intersection almost causing us to get T-boned. The last time this happen I was driving in a shopping center going around 5 mph and it has stalled. The truck is currently at the dealership for the second time for the issue. Also the transmission while driving at slow speeds shutters and vibrates. Also the lane keeping feature tries to pulled us off the road while driving at slower speeds.

The auto dimming headlight feature is too sensitive. There is constant toggle of high and low beams when this feature in enabled. Any and all type of reflection from street and traffic signage trigger the lights to dim which causes the constant on and off of high beams. This causes distraction of both the driver of the affected vehicle and drivers of other vehicles in close proximity. Honda service said there is no way to adjust sensitivity setting.

Gasoline fumes originating from engine compartment and entering the cabin of vehicle via HVAC. Fumes are thick enough to cause eyes to water, mild respiratory distress (coughing) and clothing to smell of gasoline after exiting the vehicle. Concerns exist about possible fuel leak given how dense the fumes are. Multiple users on social media report similar issues of gasoline fumes from the motor coming into the cabin via HVAC system across the Honda lineup, but mainly users with the 3.5 liter v6 motor. Some point to leaking fuel lines. Of those I found looking for a solution, all said Honda techs either located a fuel leak or were unable to fix. Dealer will be inspecting vehicle at next oil change if not sooner if problem continues to worsen. Issue is intermittent but increasing in incidents over the past three days. With the motor running, vehicle idling in park and HVAC system off, the fumes do not enter the cabin. The moment the HVAC system is turned on, the cabin begins to fill with fuel fumes. Fumes don’t fully disperse from the cabin when driving unless at highway speeds. Vehicle was purchased new from dealer, has never been involved in any incidents or experienced any issues beyond poor drivers side window performance. The check engine light isn’t illuminated nor are any other fault indicators. NOTE: given how many complaints I’m seeing online about this exact issue, I wanted to submit this to see how many others have reported fuel fumes coming from the motor. If it is as widespread as users indicate, I’d hope that multiple reports have been submitted and my report is one more into you launching an investigation. I live on a farm with equipment twice my age. Fuel fumes don’t happen inside the vehicle unless something is wrong, even the oldest trucks on the property with fuel tanks stored behind the drivers seat inside the cabin.

My name is [XXX] , and my wife and I own a 2023 Honda Ridgeline that we purchased in October 2023. The automatic headlight dimming function has not worked properly since purchasing. The automatic function is very erratic. The lights will not automatically brighten when on a really dark road, and at times have switched to high beam within 100 feet of meeting another vehicle and remain bright. The function also switches from bright to dim very frequently when driving down the road and no other vehicles around. The lights also switch erratically when going past a road sign, reflector pole, lights at a house you may be passing, etc. My big concern is the lights switching to high beam while approaching another vehicle. I can't count the times this has happened. I have taken our Ridgeline back to Gary Force Honda in Bowling Green, Kentucky where we purchased it. The service advisor that assisted us stated that Honda knows of the problem, however, there is no fix. I inquired about a safety recall for this problem and the gentleman acted as though it was no big deal. It probable isn't a big deal until a deadly accident occurs because of a malfunctioning system. I even mentioned that I expect more especially when you spend $48,000 for a vehicle. Again, the service advisor acted as though his hands are tied. Needless to say, we left the dealership with the same problem that took us in. Attached is a picture taken at approximately 1830 hrs on [XXX] on our isolated road with no street lights, street signs or anything to cause a problem. As you will see, the lights will not switch to bright on this dark road. Please help!! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle goes into limp mode, limited power, flashing check engine light This happens after extended period on highway (hour or more) below 20 degrees F. When you exit highway and come to a stop. All good as soon as you try to accelerate CEL starts flashing and I have reduced power. To correct this. The vehicle has to be shut off and restarted. This means it happens when pulling out into traffic from a stand still at a stop light stop sign. Limited to about 15 mph regardless of road pulling onto. Then have to pull over shut off and restart put back in drive and go. This is not ideal in most cases and dangerous. Honda released a TSB but will not cover if out of warranty. I filed case with Honda at 70 K. They agreed to pay for parts and labor minus $50 deductible and sales tax on parts. This affect all 2017 to 2023 and some 2024 vehicles with 3.5L engine. This first happened to me with roughly 2k miles on car and is sporadic. Only cold weather and matches their TSB. Happens frequently every winter for me. For last 3 years When I found Honda TSB 24-085 suddenly the dealer knew this was happening. Yet I have been complaining for 3 years of issue. Once I showed them tsb suddenly oh that’s what you mean.

The contact owns a 2021 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, there was a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment while accelerating and there was a loud popping sound coming from the engine compartment shortly afterwards. The low oil level warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to Firestone and was diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle had not been repaired by Firestone but was instead towed to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the connecting rods had disconnected, causing engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the repair was not covered under warranty due to the low oil levels. The contact confirmed that the low oil level warning light occurred during the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 52,000.

The automatic high beam feature in late model Honda Ridgelines presents significant safety concerns. There are two primary issues: 1. Activation Speed and Sensitivity: The auto high beams only engage when the vehicle reaches speeds above 40 mph, which is higher than many competitors. Furthermore, the system frequently toggles between high and low beams, particularly when encountering yellow road signs, leading to potential distractions for the driver and reduced visibility in critical situations. 2. Inconsistent Performance: There are instances where the high beams fail to deactivate when approaching vehicles are detected, especially on curves. This inconsistency can create dangerous conditions by blinding other drivers, which is particularly concerning at night when visibility is crucial. In contrast, my experience with the automatic high beams in a 2020 Honda CR-V has been flawless, highlighting a disparity in performance between models. The Honda Ridgeline Owners Forum reflects widespread dissatisfaction with this feature, with numerous posts detailing similar grievances from other owners. Despite raising these concerns with a Toyota service dealer, I was met with indifference; the supervisor stated there was nothing they could do and suggested I report the issue instead. Given these factors, it is clear that the automatic high beam system in the Ridgeline is not only ineffective but could potentially lead to hazardous driving conditions.
