STEERING
The steering sticks and gets stuck. I have to turn the wheel so hard at times, the vehicle wants to veer into the other lane. I could hit another car or drive off the road. Occurs at high or low speed. I have taken the vehicle to the Honda dealership and they confirmed "electronic steering rack assembly internal malfunction. The dealership Honda of Sarasota Florida indicated this is very common problem. The issue is so common the part is on nationwide back order from Honda. The vehicle is unsafe to drive and the repair estimate is $3826. No ETA on parts.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start up after several attempts. There was no warning light illuminated. Once the vehicle was started, the vehicle jerked while depressing the accelerator pedal while driving at various speeds. There was no warning light illuminated. One day, several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel soon after starting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic test was performed; however, no defect was found with the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

STEERING
Eight months ago while returning home from a road trip my steering began acting strange. Seemed sticky. Not smooth. I disengaged the cruise control but the problem was still there. After returning home it was not as noticeable unless I drove a minimum of 10-15 minutes. . Then I began hearing a clicking sound coming from the steering wheel and when driving on an interstate for about 20 minutes the effort to keep the steering wheel from sticking to the left or right becomes very tiring. A constant battle. The problem is getting worse and more pronounced. I disengaged the Lane Departure Feature but it didn’t improve anything. I’ve recently taken the vehicle to the Honda Dealer and I now have to replace the Steering Rack at a cost of $3500 before tax and front end alignment. I am waiting for a steering rack to become available as there is a nationwide shortage at this time. My dealership is familiar with this problem as they get daily complaints of this issue. I will not be driving this vehicle on my planned summer vacation until it’s fixed. I don’t feel it’s safe. The effort to overcome the stickiness in the steering wheel becomes very exhausting. I can’t imagine driving several hundred miles in this condition. Frankly, I’m not certain it’s even safe to drive any distance as I worry it may one day Lock Up.

Steering has developed a stickyness when attempting to make routine subtle adjustments to maintain lane on straight roads. This requires additional pressure on the steering wheel to make it turn. This then results in over-steering and potential lane departure. Dealer reports steering rack and pinion replacement needed. Single owner vehicle that has not been involved in any accidents. 2022 and newer C-RV have been recalled for this condition.

The side air bags popped upon one car tire going on curb when I was driving in the dark and thought I saw a deer. My safety was put at risk because now I don't have airbags Insurance will inspect soon. I already filed a progressive claim. the problem has been issue with other honda crv models. I cant be the only one to have experienced this causing expensive repair costs that I cant afford as a single mother NO warnings prior to the problem.

*This car was parked in the driveway 2 days without being driven before the following incident* ALSO- there are recalls for this make and model. Honda always said that the recalls do not include my car. Recalls should be expanded to include mine since the car is un drivable at the Honda service center. WHAT HAPPENED: Alarm went off on car in driveway. Horn constantly going off. Smoke came out around steering wheel and inside the vehicle filled with smoke. All lights came on dash. Gears were locked up and had to manually put in neutral to get on tow truck. Car is at Honda dealership in cumming GA. Said I needed steering wheel cable, srs unit, safety restraints unit, & brake boosters. They put parts on. Did same thing to them as it did in my driveway. Horn & smoke & all!! Now they say it needs steering wheel & the harness is on back order until August 28! and that my vin # is NOT on the recall but I believe it should be. This car could have caused a fire and was parked beside my house. My family and I were at risk and almost called police and fire department. Newborn baby, & other family members inside the home. Family members disconnected the battery because horn was so loud. All these repairs are headed towards $9000 & this is insane. This is my only vehicle. I must have transportation!

When car is idle and hybrid battery switches to gasoline engine the engine shakes violently and warning lamps and messages for engine and transmission error come on. It's becoming more of a problem and dealerships do not know how to correctly diagnosis it. I've taken my car to the dealership twice and still the problems occur. I believe that the fuel injectors are faulty straight from the manufacture. In some cases the car can shut off on its own

STEERING
When turning the vehicle to the left, the electronic system freezes the steering requiring a substantial "jerk" of the wheel to come out of the turn. Obviously, having to overcorrect the steering has bad potential outcomes. The Honda dealer described it as a failed electronic steering unit. There were no warnings. The vehicle has 50,000 miles. I was notified of the recall in January 2024, have scheduled appointments at Coggin HONDA of Orlando twice brought the vehicle in and after waiting they did not have the part and I was told to come back and or they would call me when the part came in and or save a part for me and contact me to come in, none of that has happened. Coggin HONDA has failed to fix the issue twice but is still sending me texts to bring the vehicle again but there is no promise they will have the part yet again thus wasting my time and not fixing the issue. It is well past the 60-day mark of when I was informed of the recall needed on my vehicle. When I questioned the service associate stating the issue is if I'm in an accident it could cause a car fire, he replied "oh you should be fine, I wouldn't worry about it"...........yet Honda has a recall for this reason. My vehicle has not had the recall done due to their lack of proper service and or competence when a customer makes a scheduled appointment with them now on more than 2 occasions. Will never buy another vehicle from this location again.

2017 Honda CRV, mileage on 1 Dec 2023 (44498).The passenger air bag warning light fails to to 'OFF' when a 112 pound person sits on the front seat. Auto dealer inspected the device on Dec 1, 2023 and re-initialized the seat weight sensor to factory parameters and advised it now tests ok. During Jan - June 2024, the warning light began to operate improperly. Auto dealer inspected the system on August 24 and determined the passenger front seat weight sensor reading was inaccurate and advised the entire seat frame with weight sensors be replaced. Returned to the auto dealer on June 18 to have the entire seat and weight sensors replaced to correct the issue. Current Mileage: 48692 on June 24, 2024. Cost to customer: Parts & Labor: $1558.78 The vehicle is not covered by a factory warranty, however, it would seem that an issue with an air bag should be considered as a recall, since the only person using the car was the driver, since we had no confidence that the passenger air bag system would work if there was an incident that required it to be deployed. We have to use a second vehicle whenever we travel with more that one person in the car.

STEERING
For about the last 6 months, we have experienced the "sticky steering" during every drive. I did not realize other Honda CRVs have been having the same issue, although it appears most reported model years have been newer than our 2019 model. There have been no "check engine" or warning lights on the dash. We have had a few experiences of the CRV being difficult to maintain within the lane while driving, although luckily no accidents at this time. We took our CRV to the Honda dealer who was able to experience the steering issue of our CRV, and acknowledged the current solution is to replace the steering gearbox assembly, which was quoted at $3500 (labor included), and the gearbox assembly is on national backorder with no estimated time of being available. To make the situation worse, the dealership requires a full payment upfront of the cost for the part ($2500). This steering gearbox issue is a huge safety concern, and without an estimated time of remedy, our confidence in Honda at this point in time is not the highest.

The contact stated the vehicle had previously been repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V768000 (Visibility, Electrical System), and the power window switch on the driver’s side was replaced with a water-resistant switch. The contact stated while opening the front driver’s side door, the power window switch was wet from previous rainfall. In addition, the contact noticed after attempting to roll down the four windows, the power window switches failed to respond. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
