When driving on the highway and in the city the steering wheel intermittently becomes stuck, predominately veering towards the left and has to be jerked back to straighten the vehicle on the road. It had happened multiple times and will cause an accident because of the way the car veers back on the road. I have taken it to Honda dealership about 2 times regarding this issue and they do not drive it as specify to recreate the issue. The vehicle is available upon request, has been properly maintained and this issue persist, even before the date bélow of 9-4-24.

- #11612053September 1, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
When driving, if the sunlight is just right casting shadows in front of the car from trees, or while traveling down a divided highway passing 18 wheelers (mainly in the evening), the shadow created causes a false alarm on the collision avoidance system causing it to react by hard deceleration. This is also accompanied by the audible BRAKE alert coming across the gauge cluster. While at highway speeds, it can really startle you and possibly cause you to be rear ended due to the sudden and Unneed braking. You have to get hard on the accelerator in order to overcome the computer trying to slow you down. There is a recall on OTHER Honda vehicles for this exact thing, and it needs to be expanded to the Civic as it suffers from the same problem. The approximate date section only contains 1 date, but yet it has happened numerous times.

Steering wheel gets sticky after driving over 50mph. There is already a recall on a certain 2017 Honda civic models but it doesn’t cover my car but the steering wheel issue is still there. This is a safety issue.

Intelligent inverter unit need replace, there was a recall on Honda Civics with this problem. "But our civic was not on the recall list, which it should have been no reason was given why it was not, it fit all the recall criteria but was not recalled. Could have broken down on the highway in an unsafe area. Sterling Honda inspected the unit and said it needed to be replaced, which we did at a cost of $2500. Would like to know why it was not recalled. It fit all the recall criteras.

A/C went out on a road trip. Temperatures were in the 90s. No cold air. When it happened there was a really odd odor that we smelled that made us feel sick and nauseous. Took it to the dealer to look at it. They charged 360 just to look at it. Ended up replacing the condenser under warranty but that didn't fix the issue. Turns out it was the compressor that was the issue and not covered under warranty, Honda wants $1242 to repair the clutch, field and pulley assembly. With the number of complaints regarding the AC issues on these cars, there needs to be a recall or class action lawsuit to protect consumers. This is dangerous due to the smell and leaks and also due to no AC on hot days. My car has less than 60k miles and is a 2018, ridiculous!

My 2018 Honda Civic is presenting with issues related to another safety recall, but my Vin doesn't come up for that recall. I got diagnostics done for this issue at a Honda certified dealership, the wanted over $5600 to repair the safety recall issue because my Vin doesn't come up for that specific recall- only one of the safety recalls, which they do not have parts for. I got a second opinion with another mechanic who confirmed that what's going on with my car is a recall safety issue on Honda's part, not my own. My car is not safe to drive due to a rack and pinion safety issue and a fuel pump issue and the safety issues have gotten worse. Others and my own safety is put at risk because the car doesn't have a lot of power to maneuver the vehicle safely as well as the steering locking up. My vehicle shows no lights on the dash.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, she became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, observing that the steering wheel continuously jerked to the left. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the steering rack and pinion. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the diagnosis, finding that the steering rack was binding and causing the steering wheel to jerk hard to the left. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V663000 (Steering); but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 77,000.

I would like to report an incident on my 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback. On [XXX] around noon, I was merging onto [XXX] in Fremont, CA. As I was was picking speed to merge around 50mph, suddenly my car lost thrust. As I pressed on the accelerator more, my car couldn’t go faster than 30mph. All the warning lights came on. I could have been easily hit by cars behind me picking up speed to merge onto I880. It was a near miss. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Honda issues a recall on my vehicle in Feb 2024, for months they keep telling me they do not have the parts. I had to move back to Canada and now I can't register the vehicle in Canada because it has an open recall that they can not fix until end of this year or start of 2025.

Went to Honda dealership to diagnose why white smoke was coming through the AC vent whenever I would turn on the AC. Honda said that my AC condenser went bad, which is covered under the extended warranty due to others having the same issue but that my AC Evaporator core was stain and also needs to be replaced. I was quoted $2322.16 to have the Evaporator replaced and it needed to be replaced before they could continue with replaced the condenser and recharged the system for free. Please help as it seems the issue has to do with the new Freon Honda is using.

Had my power steering checked by Honda and they said it was fine. My steering wheel is extremely unsafe to the point where I am always almost getting in accidents. Now I am out of warranty and need this fixed. I have replaced all 4 tires rhllthat were chopped. The noise coming from the sticking wheel sounds like it is effecting the tires. something is electronically not correct and you can feel this as you turn the wheel, even slightly. Please help

Steering can stick and cause a momentary increase in steering effort that could potentially cause overcorrection and an increased risk of a crash. The issue seems to occur after long bouts of highway driving and in warmer weather. My steering rack was just replaced under warranty -- but the issue is identical to what you are investigating here: [XXX] . I have read of many others with 2016-2021 Civic with this issue as well. I really believe you need to expand it to more model years, it is VERY dangerous to drive when it is happening.
