At approximately [XXX]. Pacific, I was traveling southbound in the fastrak lane of the [XXX] departing from Pleasant Hill, California headed to Pleasanton, California. As I began to accelerate, the engine began to sputter. Immediately, the check engine light flashed on, then the dashboard reported a number of issues ranging from brake failure, TPMS failure, power assisted steering failure, vehicle stability assist failure and a number of other issues that I have never encountered since purchasing the vehicle. The sudden deceleration almost resulted in other cars impacting my car as this occurred during the morning commute. I was able to safely navigate off of the freeway. I was on speakerphone with Honda when this occurred. Had I not acted swiftly, a potential high speed rear end collision was likely to have occurred. I immediately took the car to Concord Honda. The team at Concord Honda performed a diagnosis and advised me that my head gasket was leaking water into the combustion chamber which resulted in the sudden loss of power. I was and continue to be dissatisfied with the handling of this issue by Honda as my car has never been handled by another mechanic. My car has a perfect or near perfect maintenance record and should not have a blown head gasket at 80k miles especially since my car is meticulously maintained and serviced by Concord Honda. Honda issued a recall for the torque converter on my 2017 Honda Accord. I had received the paperwork in June of this year and have been battling with them ever since. I had to have my transmission replaced due to repeated issues with my torque converter code appearing and lose of power over a year ago. After losing power going uphill several times and being fearful of causing a crash, I had to have it repaired. In January 2024, I paid an independent car repair facility(DynoTrans in Temecula, CA) $4,200 to replace my entire transmission because of this recurring issue. I have submitted the receipts from the facility to Honda and because they requested "proof" of our cash payment, screenshots of both mine and my husband's bank statements showing cash withdrawals(since we paid the owner in cash in order to get a cash discount), and Honda is denying to reimburse us for this repair, even though it is a nationwide recall, a known issue, that I had paid for out of my pocket to have repaired prior to them ever issuing a recall due to this recurrent issue with the torque converter. I feel like this is an illegitimate denial and therefore am filing this complaint. Sandra P. is the representative that I have been in contact with from Honda.

Five times the past year, while driving on the freeway, the first incident I cannot remember, but I do know that the other four incidents were on a slight incline. The car acted as if it wasn’t getting enough gas and slowed down and was shaking. Giving gas would not help, and it kept slowing down. The check engine light would come on and once I turned off the car and turned it back on, the car acted normal again. Sometimes I had to keep it turned off at least a minute before it would run normal again. I took it to the dealership twice and both times I was told that because the engine light was not on, they did not know what was wrong. I asked if they could check the computer to look for faults, and they said that is a waste of time because not only would I have to pay for the service, but they could guarantee that faults will not be found so it would be a waste of my money. The fact that this has happened so many times., once every a few months, and the fact that there has been similar problems on other models/years, I would like to report that I think it also has to do with my model and year. While filling out this report, it only showed that it was a 2020 Honda Accord and did not include the fact that it is a hybrid if that makes a difference. My car is a 2020 Honda Accord hybrid. Last incident was this past Saturday. August 9, 2025. This was the worst incident due to it took longer to correct itself and took three tries.

- #11679897August 11, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The contact owns a 2025 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at any high speeds, the collision mitigation braking system (CMBS) engages independently. In addition, all 4 tires lock, and the emergency brake engages. A dealer was contacted. No warning light illuminated; however a warning message to "brake" would illuminate, but did not give the contact ample time to engage the brake pedal manually. The contact mentioned she sustained whiplash due to the failure. The contact also mentioned that the failure occurred on three different occasions. During the most recent failure, the contact mentioned driving at 40 MPH, when the CMBS engaged independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed; however the diagnosis was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,111.

Car revs up at a stop sign, red light, heavy traffic, recently when making right turn. While in heavy traffic, stop and go barely moving, car stopped with foot on brake, traffic not moving, car revved up extremely high, the harder I stepped on the brake the higher it revved up, as cars started to move I took my foot off the brake, car jerked forward fast and I hit another car. No injuries, no major damage. Have taken car twice to mechanic, can’t find anything. Called Honda dealer same day of incident and brought in the car the following morning for diagnostic test, received phone call some hours later and told they can’t find anything wrong. There have been no warning lamps, and it happens unexpectedly. It’s happened before but very low and you can drive for months with nothing happening. I’ve been driving all year but this last time was different and happened 7/8 times. Found out on the internet there have been 10 recalls in 2019 one was for Accelerator Pedal May Bind/FMVSS 124, but I’ve never received notification on any of the 10 recalls.

The infotainment screen glitches out and selects options on the screen without human interaction. Whenever it starts doing this screen input disables making the screen extremely distracting while driving. During one of my trip, while I was driving on the highway, the screen started going crazy on it's own. First it cancelled my directions from google maps and kept switching out the screen to different apps by clicking on it's own. It was so distracting I had to pull over and turn off the car to reset the screen. It happens randomly so it's nearly impossible to reproduce to get it repaired under warranty.

ABS lights on, break lights on, steering light on with traction control on while driving, use a scanner and shows code 121-11 VSA solenoid malfunction, I fear of losing my brakes while driving. I have seen that’s a common issue in different forums, something to be worried about.

On the morning of July 26, 2025, while returning home from a grocery shopping trip, my vehicle experienced a sudden and severe loss of power while traveling on an interstate highway with a posted speed limit of 65 mph. Without warning, the car ceased to accelerate and began to decelerate rapidly. I immediately activated my hazard lights and attempted to locate a safe area to stop. Vehicles traveling behind and alongside me were forced to brake abruptly to avoid a collision. Fortunately, no accident occurred, though the situation clearly presented a significant risk of one. After pulling onto the shoulder, I turned the vehicle off and restarted it. It initially appeared to operate normally, allowing me to resume driving. However, within a few minutes, the loss-of-power incident occurred again. I managed to pull over a second time, restart the vehicle, and continue the approximately 10-minute drive home without further incident. Upon taking the car to my mechanic, I was informed that coolant was present in one of the cylinders, indicating a failed head gasket. The mechanic advised that I bring the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership for repair. The Honda service department performed diagnostics and confirmed the head gasket failure. The repair cost was $3,758, which I paid in full. Subsequent research revealed that this appears to be a widespread issue affecting certain Honda models manufactured between 2018 and 2022. I discovered numerous consumer complaints online and learned that a class action lawsuit has been filed regarding this exact defect. Based on my understanding, head gasket failures are uncommon—particularly in vehicles with relatively low mileage. My vehicle has approximately 83,000 miles on it. While I am dissatisfied with the substantial financial burden of this repair, my greater concern lies with the serious safety risk posed by the sudden loss of power at highway speeds. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed.

I was traveling at 55mph when the car lost power on the freeway. I had to make my way to the shoulder. I could only travel 10mph. I had the car inspected by an independent mechanic and Honda Dealership. I was told it was the head gasket. I am told by Honda it will cost $5500 to fix. I did some research on this issue and found it to be a design flaw due to the channels that are put in the engine block to pass coolant. I found this is a prevalent and Honda did confirm it. Honda denied helping to fix the car and even though they know about the issue. We purchased this car brand new in 2018 and we thought we had a reliable vehicle with Honda's reputation. Honda's good will program did not accept the case either.

The touchscreen will glitch nonstop and random buttons are selected. The screen will freeze so when it calls random people, cancels my directions and other inconvenient things. I have to take my eyes off the road to address it. It’s extremely dangerous as it occurs so often now. I cannot drive down the road without it glitching and stopping any music or directions I have on. It’ll turn music on even after I turn the audio off.

On August 6, 2025, I scheduled an appointment at Ball Honda, located at 2135 National City Blvd, National City, CA 91950 (Tel: 619-259-5865), for a recall service on my 2008 Honda Accord, Since I was unable to attend, I sent my son to take the car in, However, the Honda representative refused to perform the service, stating, "The recall was for vehicles purchased new, and they came with a nose mask," without checking the VIN or verifying whether my vehicle was actually affected by the recall.

On August 7, 2025, the automatic braking system alerted with the sign break and then proceeded to stop the car when there was no object or vehicle in front of me. This would have been extremely dangerous. If there was someone behind me this is not the first time this has occurred it has happened several times.

Touchscreen glitches in its own. Taps all over the screen nonstop. Cannot safely put in directions to get to a location. Have to unplug my phone and use my phone screen for directions, which as a driver I’m not supposed to be on my phone. Also when it glitches it can go to my phone and call people while I’m driving, constantly have to take my attention off of driving to hang the phone up and exit the phone screen. When screen is turned off it will also turn itself back on. There is not fix to this for us only problems. Hearing lots of people having the same problem but Honda isn’t making a recall of fixing anybody’s vehicles

Fuel pump recall. Put in an order with Honda dealer January 2024 for the pump. On February 2025 asked if they submitted the order back in January 2024? They said it was. Now it's August 2025 (20 months since) and waiting. NHTSA says if they failed to fix in a timely manner to make a report online. Is 20 months long enough? Driving with a safety recall. Second making a complaint with the 10 speed auto transmission 2nd to 3rd hard shift and 4th to 3rd hard shift. Putting stress on other components can break mounts, the transmission, axles, ect. could also launch the car into the car in front of you, in heavy (slow bumper to bumper) traffic. Wasted my own money and time draining and filling 5 quarts of honda 2.0 transmission fluid. (Also replaced the trans filter behind the warmer housing) Did not fix the issue. Contacted American Honda and they said It's out of warranty and I need to pay for diagnostic and repairs. (I just bought the car in 2023 at 45k miles. Previous owner must of felt it and should of did something while under warranty.) Honda know this issue from the beginning and hiding the issue to save money. Check the Accord forums online. It's most of us if not all the 18-20 10 speed models. Vehicle is 2018 Accord 2.0 10 speed 50k miles. Plus the normal Phantom braking and lane departure which will automatically steer you off the road, so you have to fight the steering wheel.
