- #11652117April 1, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
recently when starting truck brake message alert comes across on dash reading brake error, and not to drive above 45 miles per hour and brakes are NOT totally operational, meaning brake pedal has alot of play in it to bring truck to a stop. Have to turn off vehicle , sometimes repeatedly before it apparently resets computer system. This has now occurred four times in last five months. Events and dash warning message very similar to recall issued 3/3/20, but listed as "complete" on recall data base. Need to seriously and immediately looked into and corrected!

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while one of his employees was driving 45 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was pulled over to the side road and turned off. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and the contact was informed that the lifters had caused the cam to become unglued, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

Rear axle locked up driving down the interstate at 65mph. Had I been towing, the incident could very well have caused an accident. Truck taken to dealer and was inspected. Gave an error code of P0747. Per the dealer it was caused by a faulty valve body in the transmission. Part is on back order for months to get fixed. Truck is not drivable as it will not go out of 5th gear. Was told that the problem was found in many models from 2020-2024.

upon applying brake pedal at low speeds the brake is hard to depress and "choppy" in reacting. this seems same as N192268490 Increased Brake Pedal Effort yet the gmc denali is not apparently in the recall. This has happened on several occassions.

Driving at night on non-marked rural road at approximately 40 mph when the motor quit. I was going slight downslope and didn’t know until the Push button to start message came up. I coasted to a stop in the road and when push button to restart the lights went out and no movement of engine. Even though the lights came back on when button was pushed again nothing seemed to respond. Emergency flashers and radio did work. Transmission selector would not go to neutral to allow movement from the road. I called wrecker service and set in the truck for about a hour waiting and nervous about someone hitting me from behind as it was a dangerous spot just around a corner. The wrecker could not get the truck in neutral after several attempts ended up dragging the truck to get it loaded. Since I was within a mile from my home and it was midnight on Saturday I had him take it to my home. Monday I called Thompson GMC and wrecker came took it in to the dealership in Springfield MO. Tuesday 8:30 am I received a text from service saying that it was going to have to have a new motor as it was completely full of metal shavings. The replacement 6.2 engines were on backorder and they didn’t know when they could expect them. I was shocked as I had not had any trouble and really liked my truck to this point. I tried to get dealership to trade for another truck but they didn’t seem to want to wait for the engine either and would not give much for trade on a 18 month old truck. Obviously, this is a frustrating position as the truck is a huge part of my life. In the last few days I have found that GM has known of the problem for some time and they don’t have a remedy for me to recover my investment in their faulty product. I saw on internet where NHTSA had more than a 1000 complaints so I decided to add mine. You can bet that their are many many more that have been repaired before the motors went on backorder that are not reported. GM needs to step up NOW!

While driving my truck shut off and went into neutral. Truck restarted after cranking for a long time. Did the same thing within a mile and then started making knocking noises, turned off and would not restart. Completely dead on the road. Truck was towed to nearest dealership.

I purchased the vehicle brand new in October of 2023, since then the vehicle has been to service over 15 times for engine failure, vibration while driving on the highway etc. At times when the vehicle shut down it was without warning.

I was driving down the road, got a quick message. It said something about lean and to pull over (on dashboard). And by the next stop light the engine stopped. The truck no longer turned on. It did put my life in danger because it left me stranded in between two lanes. The truck was inspected by one of my mechanic friends who owns a shop. He let me know my engine is seized.

Dear NHTSA, I am filing a complaint against General Motors, LLC (GM) for failing to follow through on a legally binding lemon law settlement and leaving me with an inoperable, unsafe vehicle. Vehicle Information: •Vehicle: 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 •VIN: [XXX] •Date of Purchase: [XXX] •Dealership: Diamond Chevrolet Buick GMC Nature of the Complaint: 1.Vehicle Declared a Lemon: •GM acknowledged that my vehicle was defective and offered a CCP § 998 settlement on April 18, 2024, for $97,000 plus pre-judgment interest. •Despite accepting the offer, GM has failed to facilitate the buyback or repurchase of the vehicle. 2.Ongoing Safety Hazard: •The vehicle is non-operational and poses a safety hazard due to repeated transmission failures, loss of engine power, steering/braking issues, and limp mode activation. •GM’s delay in replacing the vehicle leaves me exposed to ongoing safety concerns. Request for Action: I request that the NHTSA: •Investigate GM’s failure to address and rectify the vehicle’s safety issues. •Document GM’s negligence in resolving safety defects under a recognized Lemon Law claim. •Initiate necessary action to protect consumers from ongoing safety hazards caused by GM’s failure to act. Please contact me for additional information or supporting documentation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

As I pulled away from a stop sign, my vehicle started surging and went into limp mode, I pulled over to the side of the road to get out of the way of traffic and could not drive in reverse as I tried to park safely on the shoulder of the road. I had to have truck towed and deealership stated there was an issue with the transmission control valve and it would need to be rebuilt. Performed GM TSB 25-NA-014.

The motor quit while traveling on the highway. There were no warning signs. No noises, lights, smoke, smell, etc. It just quit. I was able to steer closer to the side of the road while it coasted to a stop, but it was difficult. After the vehicle coasted to a stop and it would not restart. The electronics appeared to work (radio, signals, lights) but found that they would not turn off. It has been confirmed that the engine has completely failed by the dealer. No traffic was affected, but it could have been.

My truck uses excessive oil .i bought my truck on [XXX] and we decided to take it to pipestone camping for the weekend in August of 2023 . I still had roughly 3000miles before my next service . We left on a Saturday night to go home around 12:30 am . it was a 4 hr drive and about 3:00am my oil light came on . Before we left i checked the oil and it was full I stopped at the nearest gas station which was 10 miles and it took 2 and1/2 quarts to hit the full mark then went to Arkansas with the truck, just had it serviced prior and checked myself before we left and it was good . We drove there and back I checked at every gas fillup. The light never came on but when I checked the next day it was 2 1/2 quarts low this was this past January of 2025 it’s gotta be blowing past the rings or something with the pcv system ,but this is far from routine and could destroy the motor or at the least severely diminish the longevity of my truck and [XXX] knows of all safety concerns anywhere from engine seizing up all of a sudden driving down the interstate at speed and losing power to everything. Degrading the oil like that is not good for any internal parts . Now every time I start it the lifters tic and it only has 84263 miles .This is a very expensive truck . I take care of my vehicles to make them last and I can’t afford another pickup in this price range which was 38,000 in 23 . I know I can’t be the only one complaining about this issue . I’ve had it serviced by a outlet of the dealership I bought from it only been serviced 2 times that I know of since I bought and well before the service it’s been drastically low on oil with well over half the miles left before the next service . To me that’s insane . I have a ford fusion I’ve never added oil since I bought it and it has twice the millage . Gm needs to take responsibility for this and get these autos fixed before there is a fatality because of the faulty cheep parts they put in these trucks INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C.

While driving home from work, my engine, with only 20k miles on it, started to make noise. I immediately got off the highway at the next exit and as soon as I came to a stop the engine noise got even louder and the vehicle shut off. Was able to barely get it started but managed to get it off the road before it died again. Had it towed to my GMC dealership and have been advised that the engine is done and needs to be replaced. Seems to be a very common occurrence on GM vehicles with the 6.2 engine. Won’t have the truck back for minimum 6 weeks but still have to continue to make my $1000 payment for a truck with no working motor due to factory issues.
