SERVICE BRAKES
While driving down the interstate the rear brakes locked up. Was not able to accelerate over 65 mph. Originally thought it was a transmission issue until I was able to pull over smelled burning rubber and saw smoke coming from the rear brakes and the rotors completely gouged. The dealership originally indicated it is a safety issue and would have to call in an engineer but then stated that they are not able to duplicate the issue so I will have to pay for the repair out-of-pocket and will return the vehicle to me. Told them I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. No warning lights. Vehicle is currently at the Genesis of Minneapolis

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
The Forward Collision Warning in my GV80 activated unnecessarily, which resulted in the car to break without need / warning, this resulted in the GV80 being hit from behind, the GV80 was pushed forward into another vehicle. The vehicle is unsafe for driving and has remained parked. The Forward Collision Warning activated when it was not needed and caused a rear-end accident which was quite impactful since we were not expecting a collision. The GV80 was inspected by an independent service and could not be proved to be at fault. It was deemed to "operate as designed" in spite of our experience and now even though there is damage to one of the front end sensors from the accident. The dealership claimed the GV80 needs $8000 worth of repairs as a result of the rear end incident. I did experience unnecessary collision alerts a week before the collision, when I realized this was faulty, I called the dealership and they explained that there was a setting that was at fault that I NEEDED TO CORRECT in the Settings AND, that they had been receiving others reports of the same problem "three times already today." This setting needed to be reset upon each time I started the car and they explained I also needed to wipe clean all sensors before driving in inclement weather. I experienced 3 more unnecessary Collision Breaking incidents in a single 2 mile driving range and dropped the car off at the dealership as I felt very unsafe to continue operating the GV80.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
1. When starting from a stop the vehicle sometimes applies brakes with a collision warning, with no other vehicles in front or next to the car. This will repeat several times before the issue goes away. This has happened 4 times in the last 10 days. 2. When using adaptive cruise control the vehicle will not recognize vehicles ahead, even with the maximum following distance selected. This is almost always the case.

Since the coasting feature on the Genesis GV80 and similar models is inoperative, it could mean that Genesis misrepresented the vehicle’s fuel efficiency and emissions performance. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On numerous occasions in the last 3 years the AEB malfunctions and abruptly stops the car. It engages the AEB at least 2 more times before allowing the car to advance. It has happened after waiting at a light, while in stop and go traffic (on [XXX] in Orlando, FL with a tractor trailer behind me, and when exiting an exit ramp slowly with other cars. The most troubling event was when I was the first car at a light with no cars in front of me. The AEB engaged at least 8 times in succession during this event (this was in the middle of a busy intersection). This event was [XXX]. When this first happened I took the car to the Genesis dealership where is was purchased and was told that they couldn’t find an issue. I have subsequently been in touch with another dealership and was told on the phone that they have never heard of that happening. I found a short video on the internet today of this happening to someone, as well other people saying that it happened to them and the dealership doesn’t believe them. What do I have to do to have someone believe me before I am killed or seriously injured in an accident and/or cause injury to someone else because of the defect in my 2022 Genesis GV80? It is frightening to have this happen, but it is even more frightening to never know WHEN it’s going to happen. I am pleading for your help. The contact owns a 2021 Genesis GV80. The contact stated while attempting to refuel the vehicle, the fuel tank door switch failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the fuel tank door switch failed to unlock the fuel door. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure had occurred while on a road trip. The contact stated that he and his family were stranded for hours. The contact ripped the fuel tank door off and was able to refuel the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The vehicle was scheduled for an upcoming inspection. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000.

As I was exiting a driveway onto a 4 lane highway(2 lanes, divider, 2 lanes) I was attempting to enter into the nearest lane when my car completely pulled the wheel into the outer lane where an oncoming vehicle was and there was impact deploying airbags. I did not have the driving assist engaged. My vehicle was totaled and I had injuries requiring emergency care.

I was driving approx 15 MPH i drove through a S turn in a residential area at slow speed . Suddenly my vehicle lost power and I hit a parked car . The right front corner was damaged. The driver side airbags, deployed the passenger side air bags did not deploy automatic break did not work. The safety warning did not go off . The vehicle was taken to my yard where it was later taken to a body shop, I found out later this shop was not an approved Allstate shop which was a mistake with Repair was done poorly, and not completeld I don’t think it’s safe to drive. The air bags have not been replaced . There is a headlight still Not working since the accident There is no reason for me to crash that day. I was wide awake just woke up. The car just did not handle properly. Something went wrong and now I find out that this vehicle make model is being recalled for fuel pump failures, which is causing loss of power in accidents. That’s exactly what happened in my car. Genesis needs to take responsibility for this vehicle as it has with other similar vehicles. This Vehicles has not been inspected for this with the dealership. I’ve taken it to them. They say there’s nothing wrong.That would be Genesis of Las Vegas .

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving through a parking lot on [XXX], leaves blew in front of car and it automatically came to an abrupt stop. While driving on [XXX] on [XXX] at approximately 70 MPH, without any encroaching vehicles and with no road obstructions, the automatic emergency braking temporarily engaged on 2 occasions, indicator on dash indicated that it occurred, and I felt the wheels lock up for a short time. Fortunately, there was nobody very close behind me and I was able to maintain control of the car. In neither of these instances, did I physically apply the brake. I continued to drive the vehicle home at a decreased speed and have parked it in my garage. The vehicle mileage is 27043 and has no damage. An apparent dangerous malfunction with the vehicle's ADAS system (possible computer, camera or sensor.) I have spoken with the dealer and they are arranging to pick the vehicle up from my house. Unrelated, I had the vehicle oil changed at this same dealer (Genesis of Cherry Hill) at 6,000 miles and had to have it towed back to them the next day because they overfilled the oil, the CEL illuminated and it developed a misfire. Likely caused internal engine damage and flooded the VVT solenoids and likely aerated the oil, reducing its lubricating capability. i was driving down the freeway and the computer system had a complete reboot randomly. ALL screens went blank and ALL electronic functions were disabled until it came back up about a minute later. No radio, no ADAS features (no collision warning, no blind spot, no lane departure), no gauges to to judge speed. It was a complete distraction. Vehicle appeared to continue to drive but without any safety features. It is unknown if turn signals and day time running lights and air bag functions were disabled. I noticed issued after they applied an update for Android Auto with the maps not showing in the display even tho voice instructions came through the car. It was either a system update that should have never happened while the vehicle is in use, or I suspect an issue with Android Auto that caused the vehicle OS to crash and reboot.

Driver's bottom seat is so uncomfortable and stiff that it is cutting off blood supply to my extremities after only few minutes of driving now. I have numb feeling in my feet and toes. I am worried that this will reduce my ability to brake (stop the car) correctly in case of emergency. It feels like sitting on two very uncomfortable metal bars that are penetrating into your [XXX] and cutting off your blood supply. Over time your entire body is exhausted requiring you move in your seat a lot, even when driving at highway speeds. Both of these are major safety concerns for me. Issue started on date of purchase and progressively got worse over time. Car was taken into dealer for assessment in Ogden, UT (my nearest service center) to be told verbally on the day of service that they found and made adjustment to massaging air bars since my seat has this option and that it should be better now. Due to not getting correct part for unrelated problem that was being fixed on the same day, dealer held onto my car for several days for repair. When car was delivered to me I was surprised by the comments they made on the paperwork that nothing wrong was found with the seat. Additionally the seat issue was not resolved with same problems as before. During my visit with the dealer and several communications with Genesis customer service team I tried to point out in different ways that other Genesis GV80 owners are complaining about this same issue on their Prestige models and that there are on-line forums and comments proving it. One of their customers was even told by Genesis customer service that they are aware of the problem but Genesis will do nothing to fix it. I was personally told that this is not a warrantable item, that it is basically a comfort issue and that they would not cover the replacement of the seat. I have proof of everything I have stated above: emails, links to other Genesis owner forums with the same problem, invoices from dealer etc. Please help me. I was driving my Genesis GV 80 in January and in the Trac near my work and I came out of a s turn and the car seemed to over correct and lost power.. I hit a parked car and it was pushed onto 2 other cars .My front end was damaged and airbags deployed. My seatbelt jerked me and was damages . There have been recalls on this vehicle for fuel pump problem which causes crashes. There's been a recall in this vehicle for the seatbelt explodes. There's also a problem with the headlight doesn't work and it's full of water. The seals are bad in the headlight has not been recalled yet. I want Genesis to take responsibility for this accident and compensate me. I'm taking my car into the dealership today Las Vegas with Las Vegas Genesis to discuss this issue and have them take a look at this car. I don't feel comfortable with this car anymore. My insurance could be with Allstate and the car is still not fixed right . I mistakenly attached a photo of a VIN number for a different vehicle. Please omit photo 5832. That's my Volvo. There's nothing to do with this case. Sorry I didn't know how to remove it.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While at a stop sign on a hill the brakes failed. Brake pedal released and sunk to the floor while pressed at a stop sign. I lost control of the car and had to swerve to the opposite side of the road to avoid collision. I then attempted to engage the emergency brake but that failed as well. The car rolled through a red light after which I put the car in park in an effort to stop the vehicle before running the next red light. The car came to a jerking stop after I put it in park. At the time of brake failure, warning alerts activated on the dashboard. “Stop vehicle and check brake system.” After I was finally able to stop the car I called roadside assistance and had the car towed to the dealership for assessment and repairs.

I feel there is a flaw in mechanical and electrical. There is no emergency release from the outside of vehicle to get to the battery. The battery went dead I had to crawl from the front seat.(locks were dead as battery was dead) all the way to the rear hatch to release the lever to open the hatch to get to the battery. There were no outside mechanisms to get to the battery once the battery is dead. How is this safe.

Purchased my 2024 GV80 3.5t in June of 2024 and have been experiencing intermittent issues with the acceleration. Car hesitates when accelerating and can causing accidents while at an intersection making a turn. I have bought the car into the dealership three times, and they are unable to reproduce. Unfortunately, after reading the complaints and symptoms of the fuel pump recall for the 2021-2023 this issue seems identical. I have reach out to Genesis Corporate and they are no help and don't return calls or emails for days.

Battery begins discharge without warning while driving the vehicle. System begins complete shutdown without warning. Experiencing clunking and or jerking while driving no matter if speed acceleration/deceleration. Infotainment system goes out of function without notice - radio, sound, navigation, and safety cameras included. I feel unsafe during driving this vehicle as it does not give any warning when these issues occur. Once in traffic I had to slam on breaks after the truck just shot off after lightly pressing the gas to move forward. Whenever the vehicle is taken in for inspection, no issues are found. I reported the clunking before, the dealer claimed it was a faulty fuel pump. This is a brand-new vehicle and none of these issues should be happening.

Total battery system failure to where vehicle would not start/restart, or if started via jumping, would stall out shortly thereafter. Battery problem to point to where jump starting is difficult due to shorted battery lowering availalble power to start/restart engine. This could have caused unexpected removal of power from the vehcile during traveling or in unsafe areas. This appears to be a very common problem with this vehicle as seen on various online forums and lack of part (battery) availability.

The electrical wiring harnesses affecting numerous safety systems (forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning) have been chewed through by rodents. Upon further research it was determined that starting in 2016 Asian automotive manufacturers (Nissan, Toyota, Kia, Hyundai) began using soy-based insulation in their wiring harnesses as alternatives to petroleum-based insulation. Rodents (mice, squirrels, etc.) are attracted to the wiring harnesses. The resultant damage and safety concerns led customers to file several lawsuits against the manufacturers. It is not clear whether Hyundai stopped the use of these soy-based wiring harnesses after 2021. Genesis is a spin-off of Hyundai, leveraging common parts. It appears that these soy-based wiring harnesses are being used in some of the 2022 GV80 models. Genesis currently burdens its customers with the cost to troubleshoot and replace these harnesses. Given the previous lawsuits and the continue risks of using these wiring harnesses in key safety systems, it is recommended that Hyundai and Genesis issue manufacturer recalls to ensure these harnesses are replaced with materials that do not attract rodents. We first started experiencing intermittent failures in in the highway driving assist system. Then, forward collision warning and lane departure warning systems. These became more pronounced until we brought the vehicle into Pearson Genesis of Richmond on 06/28/2024. After troubleshooting and inspecting the automobile, the technician showed us pictures of where rodents had eaten through wiring harnesses (attached). The cost to repair this over two visits totaled $957.42. I contacted Genesis headquarters suggesting they investigate this further, given the lawsuits. They agreed to offset my cost by $672, but did not agree to address the underlying problem.
