Ford has been fully aware of its DPS6 transmission design flaws and failures for many years. A formal recall was appropriate and they have not done so all this time; therefore, a consumer is not warned of the problem through the tried and true channels of BMV lookups during new registrations, dealer records resulting in notices sent, or other lookup tools. This causes the problem to present itself unexpectedly and progressively, and it causes quite a bad hazard by affecting the ability of the vehicle to accelerate and decelerate as expected. These transmissions slip into neutral unexpectedly as well, and it shouldn't be accepted that that is considered not a hazardous situation. Especially on the interstate, it can cause a crash. Support and responsibility by Ford is very bad. An auto transmission that isn't a flawed design may cost $2,000 to fully replace. The dual-dry clutch in Ford's PowerShift design is prone to failure. Even despite that Ford says it extended coverage for PowerShift transmissions, this can result in a $3600 repair bill, promises to cover it defaulted on, and factory warranty dishonored. I've been told by Ford it will make the defect right, but the repair estimate was $6800, twice what the car is valued for and impossible to afford to fix.

Transmission shudders and struggles to shift gears due to sticking clutch. This causes a dangerous delay in transmission engagement. (Numerous occasions without specific dates.) I have previously had the TCM reprogrammed multiple times.( 8 or 9 times) The car still does not drive properly. I have brought it in to 2 Ford dealerships to have the Ford customer satisfaction program completed. Both dealerships refused to honor the Ford CSP. After working on [XXX], my vehicle made it home, and wouldn't start. After jump starting, I began to drive it to the dealership. My safety, and others, was put at risk when the car began to smoke, lost power in a driving lane, and then burned down with extreme intensity. The dealership isn't helping. Ford said their Office of General Council is still looking into it, but originally denied my claim before saying they would reconsider my case. An official report from the Lakeland Fire Department stated mechanical failure and loss estimated to be equal to $10,000. The engine light blinked on the way home, the oil lamp went off and on, and then the car wouldn't start. These were the only signs prior to a total loss of power and smoke before my life was in jeopardy. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I took my car to Downtown Ford Sacramento for a door latch recall and Transmission Control Module (TCM) coverage under Campaign #14M02. A day later, they called saying it was ready for pickup. When I asked about the transmission, they claimed a diagnosis was required at my expense before warranty coverage would apply. I approved the diagnosis, yet my car sat for over a week with no updates. Every time I called, I was directed to Service Advisor Christian Silva, who never answered or returned my voicemails. When I finally went in person, they asked me to sign paperwork but refused to provide diagnosis results. Another advisor then admitted no diagnosis was ever performed, they only completed the door latch recall. They now demand $360 for a diagnosis and insist I leave the car again, refusing to honor Campaign #14M02. This is unacceptable, and I need Ford to address this.
