Good Morning :) This is my second complaint (1st #XXX) as my truck completely shut down as I was leaving the shop around 4:30pm. As I accelerated it shut down in the middle of the street blocking traffic. I was able to start it again, however it shut down a second time as soon I accelerated. NOTE: On XXX I did take my truck into Ford for this issue, however nothing could be done as there was no solution yet. (Mileage 32899) Thank You, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Got into the Truck on Thursday 7/2/26. When I shut my door I heard what sounded like something falling out of the bed of the truck. When I got out to investigate I realized the back glass of the truck had shattered and was laying in the bed of the truck. There was no indication of vandalism, the glass had pushed out from the inside, apparently related to the recent high heat in my area. i parked the truck on 6/30 and the morning of 7/2 was when i found the shattered rear glass.

Transmission began shifting hard through each gear. Especially on deceleration. Causes lunging. Early signs were at about 90K miles. Undrivable at 130K. Took to dealership and the said it needs a new transmission. Just under $9k. Their words were, "This is a known design failure". A drum bushing can slide out of position.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a turn, the rear brakes seized. The contact pulled over and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer replaced the parking brake motor, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined, and the vehicle was traded in for another vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000. The VIN was not available.

Almost all functions connected to the steering column quit working. I do not have working turn signals, high beams or wipers, unless the wipers are on high. None of the functions on the steering wheel work. It seems like a safety issue to not have functioning turn signals or properly finctioning wipers and high beams. No lamps or warnings.

Vehicle was in Ford dealership’s service bay for an oil change service and reportedly caught fire inside the cab behind the dash due to an electrical system malfunction. The service technician stated that it was on the rack and just spontaneously caught fire inside the cab in the dash behind the infotainment system.

The truck’s fuel system can cut out under acceleration. This is very dangerous. Various times it has nearly stalled out under acceleration while trying to merge. The worst time was driving up a bridge, the truck began to hesitate nearly causing a crash. Every time it signals cylinder misfire, but that whole system has been replaced. Very dangerous, very disappointing.

Component/system affected: Power train / automatic transmission. Description of safety issue: The transmission has recurring harsh and erratic shifting, most noticeable on the first drive of the day. Symptoms include slipping/flaring, delayed or failed upshifts, sudden harsh gear engagement, unexpected large gear changes, loss of power, and occasional operation as if stuck in 4th gear/limp mode. The issue has become severe enough that I have had to manually intervene and pull over. Specific safety incident: On or about June 24th, I was leaving my apartment complex and turning left onto a busy main street. As I approached and entered the turn, the truck was in 1st gear and I was pressing the accelerator, but the transmission appeared to struggle or delay shifting into the next gear. The vehicle did not respond normally, so I continued applying throttle to complete the turn. When the transmission finally shifted, it engaged extremely harshly and caused the truck to lurch forward unexpectedly into the intersection. I had to slam on the brakes to narrowly avoid colliding with another vehicle. This created a serious crash risk because the vehicle first had delayed/lost propulsion and then suddenly surged forward during a left turn across traffic. Safety risk: This defect can cause unexpected loss of motive power, delayed acceleration, harsh engagement, and sudden vehicle lurching while driving. This is especially dangerous when merging, turning across traffic, entering intersections, passing, or driving at highway speed. The problem occurs without a clear warning light or check-engine light, so the driver may not have advance warning before the transmission behaves unpredictably. I am reporting this because the 10R80 transmission behavior caused a near crash due to delayed acceleration followed by sudden harsh engagement/lurching into traffic, and because the failure appears consistent with a known valve body/CDF drum issue affecting Ford 10-speed transmissions.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle before the vehicle became difficult to maneuver, and the front passenger’s side of the vehicle crashed into a curb. No warning lights were illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. A Police report was filed. No injuries were sustained. Medical attention was not needed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer; however, the cause of the failure was unknown. The vehicle was later diagnosed; however, the diagnostic result was unknown. Additionally, the steering column and several other unknown parts were replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,500.

- #11747182June 29, 2026EXTERIOR LIGHTING
I am submitting this complaint regarding the premature failure of the LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on my 2022 Ford F-150. The vehicle's LED daytime running light on one side has completely failed, while the corresponding light on the opposite side has significantly faded and appears to be nearing failure as well. The vehicle has approximately 60,000 miles, which is well below the expected service life of a modern vehicle and its lighting system. Ford markets the LED Daytime Running Lights as an important safety feature because they improve vehicle visibility to other drivers during daylight conditions. However, when these LEDs fail, Ford does not offer any serviceable replacement for the failed LED components. Instead, owners are required to replace the entire headlamp assembly, despite the failure being limited to the integrated LED daytime running light. The cost to replace both headlamp assemblies can exceed $3,000, creating a significant financial barrier to restoring a safety feature that Ford itself promotes as enhancing vehicle visibility and safety. There is no replaceable bulb or reasonably priced repair option available. This raises two concerns: A safety-related lighting feature is failing prematurely at relatively low vehicle mileage. The design of the headlamp assembly makes repair unnecessarily expensive because a minor LED component failure requires replacement of the entire headlamp assembly. As a result, many owners may choose to continue operating their vehicles with failed daytime running lights rather than incur thousands of dollars in repair costs. This undermines the intended safety benefit of the daytime running light system. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether the premature failure of these integrated LED daytime running lights, combined with the inability to repair the failed components without replacing the complete headlamp assembly, constitutes a safety-related defect warranting further review.

The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V512000 (POWER TRAIN); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that parts were on backorder. The contact was concerned that the failure might occur while driving in an area where there was no phone service as the residence was in the countryside. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were on backorder. The contact had not experienced a failure.
