ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
The vehicle seemingly at random, will engage automatic emergency braking. These events are hard braking events, locking up wheels and engaging ABS for brief moments at 75mph. There is no sensitivity adjustment, forcing the safety features off to ensure I am not rear ended. In my first month of ownership, we have experienced: 1) backing out of my garage in good weather and into my driveway (flat surface, no hills) causing whiplash. 2) inside turning lane of a 2-lane left turns, presumably detecting the outside lane vehicle, stopping in the middle of an intersection instantly. Assumed going 18-20mph. Almost caused accidents behind me. 3)On interstate, going 75 mph in good weather, passing a vehicle estimated to be going 65mph, caused the braking system to engage hard and the tires to squeal from locking up. Vehicle nearly lost control. Software is up to date, last update was mid March 2025

On February 25,2025 I first noticed my engine light was blinking constantly while my service esc light and tc light was on while driving on the freeway. When I exited the freeway all lights went off. I had my mechanic check it out and he suspected a misfire because he ran the vin and said my vehicle had a history of a misfire. I was unaware of that because I wasn't given that information when I bought the vehicle a little over a year ago. I drove the vehicle approximately a month just around town and on March 26 2025 I was driving on the freeway and again the service escaped light came back on as well as the TC light with a line across the letters TC. The engine light did not come on on this occasion. I've read stories with many people with my same vehicle having the very same issue however I've searched my vin and there's no recall listed for my particular vehicle and I think there should be. I find it strange that the lights only come on if I'm on the freeway and I don't feel safe driving the vehicle with my son in the car while traveling outside of the city. I'm still.under warranty but I'm unsure if this issue is covered under my warranty.

I had purchased a brand new 2022 chevy equinox from a local dealer in July 2022. Since then, my car had to be towed twice for the infamous shift to park issue. Both times, I was left without a car for over a week. When the shift to park issue happens, the car cannot be turned off. Both times this issue happened, the dealership had to unplug the battery because they could not get the car to shut off. Both times, the dealerships refused to fix the problem despite the car being under warranty. This most recently happened on [XXX]. The car was towed to the Courtesy Chevy Dealership in San Diego. There were two service representatives looking at the car when I dropped it off. They both could not figure how to get the car to turn off, so they proceeded to remove the battery. After a long wait of many days (despite the dealership promising to have an answer in 2 days), they told me they could not find anything wrong with the car. I was told since they could not replicate the issue, they could not do anything about it. This is a big problem for a few reasons: 1.) This shift to park issue is very well known for GM models. There were even multiple service bulletins instructing GM dealerships on how to fix the issue. I brought this up with the service team and the representative noted that this fix was probably what the car needed, but could not be done because the problem was not replicated in the dealership. 2.) The shift to park issue cannot be manually replicated. The service team is aware of this, but kept using this excuse. The two service representatives saw the issue themselves when the car was towed to their location. 3.) The service team said they could not run any diagnostics on the check engine light because the battery was d

The fuel pump on my 2023 Chevrolet Equinox began malfunctioning on [XXX] when the check engine light came on. Less than 24 hours later, the light went out. On [XXX], while leaving a CVS pharmacy, the vehicle jerked, then the engine shut off. After putting the car in park, I was able to restart the car and continue on. On [XXX], the check engine light illuminated again. While sitting at a stop light in the turn lane, as I began to push the accelerator, the vehicle once again jerked and the engine shut-off, almost causing the vehicle behind me to collide. I was able to restart the car and continue on my way. On 3/21/25, I took the car to the local Chevrolet dealership (Integrity Chevrolet in Chattanooga, TN). After inspecting the car, the dealer informed me the high-pressure fuel pump and fuel pump module was bad and had to be replaced. The service manager agreed this failure was not the result of operator error and should NOT have failed after only 2.5 years of normal use. The conditions/symptoms are almost exactly the same as those described in GM recall notice N222372310 (dated 5/23/23). Poor quality Vacuum Pump failed, resulting in debris in crack shaft assembly and preventing brake functionality. Check engine displays and error message stated "Service Brake Assist" which does not indicate a vacuum pump failure, which is misleading in troubleshooting issue. Hard brake pedal is a symptom, which would lead a repair facility or consumer to replace Brake Power Booster, which does not resolve issue, but will temporarily resolve brake pedal symptom, leading to further damage to crank shaft.

Driving to work, my car decided to die upon stopping at a stop light. I managed to get it to start again and coast to work, but upon reaching the parking lot, it died yet again. I allowed it to stay parked while at work, when leaving it seemed normal, mind you it hasn't made any noises. I went to leave; it died yet again at the stop sign. I just put a brand-new battery in it, so I knew that wasn't the issue. I took it maybe 200 feet down the road and it died again. This time, I noticed a bunch of oil on the ground. Since this traumatic event, I took it to my local dealership to have it diagnosed. They found that the timing chain and guide broke, and this pressure caused the seals to also blow. I spent $3,600 to fix those in hopes this would bring my car back to normal use. Unfortunately, there was more damage than expected and the bearings at the bottom of the engine went out, which the mechanic then explained to me would cause them to replace the pistons and other parts and it would be more feasible to get a new engine. They said this was due to the engine overconsuming oil and causing the oil levels to be much lower than they needed to be even with normal maintenance and tops offs in between routine oil changes. This could have caused an accident as when the vehicle would die, I had no time to get to a safe spot on the road. This did not cause any warning lights, notices, messages or signs that something was wrong. I have reached out to the dealership and GM for further assistance to look into this matter as the ECOtec engines have been known for this same issue in the 2013-2016 models but have refused to speak further about the 2017 to current models. GM customer service informed me that due to the engine stating it had too low oil, they were refusing to assist me in anyway.

On two separate occasions, the dash and radio restarted while we were driving. Whole driving down the highway, the speakers stopped working, both screens would go blank and the red pre collision lights would turn on. This causes the inability to see your speedometer or other required information while driving. I am unsure if this affects any other safety equipment from functioning if there was a crash during this timeframe. This lasted for several seconds while the system essentially restarted itself. Once everything turned back on, everything worked as it should. It went into the dealer for the first time it did this and they did a software update to prevent this but it did not apparently fix the issue.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES
Yesterday while approaching a hairpin exit, all of a sudden lights went on for the Stabilitrack, Collision alert and a number of other lights. Messages popped up saying braking assist was not available, cruise control was not available. Basically, the braking assist was gone and I had to press REALLY hard on the brake pedal to get any slowdown. All regen was gone and it was like driving a car without power brakes. I also got a message saying it would not go faster than 62mph. There was no indication of any issues prior to the Brake assist failure. This put me at extreme risk because it was essentially a power braking failure and it was extremely difficult to slow down. I had to really push hard on the brake pedal. I was able to drive my car back to the dealership where it is sitting now, waiting to be looked at in the morning of 3/24/25. I have attached a PDF of the OnStar diagnostic report, cryptic as usual, but it is a record of the codes that were thrown. Also seems like some modules were not communicating properly. I have also attached some photos of the error messages that were showing this morning.

Windshield glare from ribbed dashboard reflection under sunlight is distracting and often obstructs visibility so severely that it's impossible to drive safely without wearing polarized sunglasses or placing a dark colored dash mat. Photos do not capture how saturated the reflection appears. In the provided photo it looks like I'm driving into an office building.

dashboard reflection on the windshield: When I am driving, the sun hit the dashboard and back up on the windshield , I see the dashboard on windshield make very hard to see on the road. The top of the dashboard has a mesh-like pattern that reflects sunlight onto the windshield. When the sun is out, this pattern becomes visible on the windshield, making it almost impossible to see the road ahead. Depending on the time of day, and the direction you are traveling, the glare is very very bad. It is so bad that it obstructed my vision, the majority of the time I couldn’t even see it. Very unsafe at times - especially with any hills (even very small ones) or driving into light.

I have driven this car for approximately 40,000 miles without issue, and regularly have the oil changed. Based on what my mechanic told me, the fuel pump either failed or detached while I was driving on the turnpike. This resulted in a loss of oil. I was simply accelerating to pass another vehicle when several warning light illuminated. The engine made grinding noises and there was an oil-like smell. The dashboard gave me a warning to “seek engine service immediately” and that “acceleration would be limited.” This was a potentially dangerous situation but luckily it was mid day and not in busy traffic. So I was able to safely pull over to the side of the road. I understand that Equinox models from other years were recalled — why don’t you recall the 2020 models?!

I was put in a rental by enterprise from a rear-end. I was involved while my car was in the shop fixing the trunk. This rental had broken window glass under the passenger seat, and the car started sounding weird when turning and driving. On a morning, that same week dropping off my ex now at her job that same week, on my way back the suv started making the sounds more profound or louder (metal grinding on metal) and immediately after the whole front of the SUV hit the floor making me lose control on the highway 408 and hit the wall while spinning out of control until it stopped in the middle of the highway. I was escorted to a near gas station by one of the cops that came out of the traffic that was on hold. They moved the car to the side and escorted us. From there, my ex's mom checked carfax for the VIN number, which came out to having 4 previous accidents of the same front area. I reported it to the enterprise agent that called me asking about the car being towed, and I explicitly told them I'm not ok and you guys failed to put me in a safe vehicle. From there they charged my insurance for all the damages and never assumed responsibility!

1. Windshield has distortion on passenger side. 2. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Distortion in windshield causes blurriness to driver and could cause a collision/accident due to driver having visual restrictions. 3. Vehicle was taken to dealer and dealer confirmed the distortion, contacted GM, who also confirmed distortion. 4. vehicle has been inspected by Ourisman Chevrolet of Rockville, MD. They sent videos/pictures to GM and GM acknowledged distortion/defect in windshield. 5. The car was on show room floor and not test driven prior to purchase. Purchaser/Owner did not notice until following day during daylight hours.

I bought the vehicle new and the next day, I noticed a distortion on the passenger and drivers side windshield. When I drive it makes me nauseous and dizzy. I took it to the dealership and they said the windshield is on backorder. It is not safe to drive!
