- #11564698January 10, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, ENGINE
Traveling 75 mph on a 3-lane highway when the car jerked (as if it was downshifted), started to rattle, and then ultimately a CE came on with the "Engine Power Reduced" warning on the dash. After a few close calls trying to merge over to the breakdown lane, I was able to rest safely and call for a tow. Unable to turn the car over after a few attempts, the car finally started back up after 5 seconds of cranking. Tow to certified Dealer where they confirmed 4 codes were being presented by the car. The codes are: P0089 - fuel pressure regulator performance P00C6 - fuel rail pressure low during engine cranking P228C - fuel pressure regulator 1 low pressure P0171 - fuel trim system lean The Dealer was unable to replicate the issue and is unable to fix or repair any part. Clearly, there is an issue with the Fuel Pump in these '23 Equinox's - just like the past model year!

- #11563792January 5, 2024SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:ANTILOCK:ABS WARNING LIGHT
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop. The check engine, ABS, and traction control warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. Despite the failure, the contact managed to coast the vehicle home and used the parking brake to stop the vehicle. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed from the residence to the dealer. The contact was informed that the ABS valve kit was defective and needed to be replaced; however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 10,002.

- #11563290January 3, 2024LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
blind spot monitor light comes on and off; occurs only on driver side; will occur sporadically - also may occur when left blinker is activated; taken to dealership who states sensor not working and has been an issue with other Chevrolet equinox vehicles over the past several years; extended warranty does not cover it; I am now always needing to look for vehicles to my side as the light is not accurate and there are times when there is a vehicle in my blind spot but the sensor does not activate to warn me; the service bulletin report states: "Correction: if the blind side zone has been found not working properly, apply a piece of aluminum butyl tape to the bottom of the driver side object sensing alert module" ----- QUITE A UNSAFE SOLUTION to an ongoing issue with this vehicle over the past several years. I have already paid for diagnostic test - $188.00; the repair cost is another $598.00 -- unacceptable for an ongoing issue for this vehicle.

- #11562415December 28, 2023SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 40 MPH and attempting to make a left turn, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond, causing his wife to make the left turn at 40 MPH uphill. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated as his wife was driving uphill. The contact stated that his wife then pulled into a driveway and parked the vehicle. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle, several unknown warning lights illuminated temporarily however, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. Additionally, the alarm sounded. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the failure had occurred due to loss of communication with the electric brake system control module and the electronic brake control module. The dealer determined that the software was outdated and needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that he was concerned that the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to the premature failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 100.

Air charged cooler/ engine issues. I have a 2022 Chevy Equinox- purchased new in April 2022. When driving in heavy rain / humidity for length of time - I experience the car feeling like it is going to stall- not accelerating when pushing on the gas and jerking. Some times the engine light flashes when this occurs. Per the dealer it is due to an engine misfire - that is what the code shows. When this happens while I am driving (usually on the highway) I am terrified that I will be rear ended by another vehicle due to it slowing down - and the cars behind me have no warning/ brake lights alerting them that I am slowing down and not accelerating. From Sept 2022 to now, I have had the air charged cooler changed by the dealer twice - another time the dealer was not able to duplicate the same issue. November 2023-I had it to the dealer for the 4th time for the same issue- the solution per GM Bulletin [XXX] was to install a grill cover, which they have done. The problem with the grill cover is that I am responsible to install it and remove it depending on the weather/ temperature . Per the bulletin it needs to be on when raining - but removed if it is 85 degrees or higher and there is no clarification on what I should do if it is both raining and 85 outside. I do not know how this is safe for me to be having to stop the car and install or remove a part depending on the weather. I do not feel it is safe for me to have to stop or pull over on the side of the road / rest area or anywhere else to have to install or remove this. I am a single female [XXX] and am not comfortable with installing and removing this. The dealer did a one time courtesy demonstration of the installation and told me it is my responsibility to install or remove it from here on - depending on the temperature and weather. I drive 2 1/2 to 3 hours to work- leaving in the dark and returning in the dark. I feel my safety is at risk with the fix GM has given me. The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH and exiting a ramp to merge onto the highway in oncoming traffic, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed high-pressure fuel pump module. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the parts to complete the repair were unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

Fuel pump failed to supply engine with fuel, first started November 9, the vehicle was scheduled for regular maintenance on November 13, 2023 where I addressed the vehicle has been jerking and stalling. Service advisor saw a problem but Rick hendrick service department was unable to find what was wrong. On November 15th 2023 I reported ongoing issue and scheduled to return the vehicle for November 16, 2023, as I was driving to the dealership my car started stalling as I was going around a semi truck and a on coming car almost hit my car, Engine Light says Engine power reduced came on and I had to slowly drive the car in. Later the following day I was told my vehicle has a defective fuel pump. Vehicle has been at the dealership more than 15 days with no ETA of repair. General Motors has been notified and working to resolve again with no ETA. From what I was told this is not the only vehicle that has a defective fuel pump.

I intended to pull the vehicle behind my RV using a tow dolly. I loaded the vehicle on the tow dolly per the owner’s manual and left the key fob in my RV. After about 15 mins, we began our trip and the vehicle pulled behind without issue. About 10 miles down the road, I stopped to check the securement straps to make sure they were still tight and I also needed to check the steering strap to make sure it was still tight as well. After doing so, we proceeded down the road for a very short distance (approx 100 feet or so) when we noticed smoke behind us. We immediately pulled over and observed that the rear tires were locked up by the emergency brake setting on the vehicle. We tried several times to get the vehicle to release the emergency brakes, only to have the emergency brake reset on its own after pulling the vehicle forward only a couple of feet. We ended up taking the vehicle off the dolly only to discover that the two rear tires had already been ruined by flat spots on them. Come to find later, by reading on the vehicle forums of our particular year and model, that others were experiencing the same issue. It was discovered through reading the forums the vehicles electronics need to go to sleep (approx 10-15 minutes) before you can safely tow the vehicle. This makes sense to me now, because we had no issue when we first started on our trip. The issue didn’t occur until we had to get into the vehicle using the key fob. My main concern here is that this should be included in the owner’s manual as part of the steps or at least a cautionary to tow on a dolly. This is definitely a safety issue, as the tires could have blown or started a fire if I continued down the road without notice. As it stands, I will be required to purchase two new tires to replace the rear tires that only had 2,000 miles on them. I made contact with Chevrolet customer service on 11/13/2023 to advise them of the issue and they should consider including more detail in the owner’s manual.

While driving on a four lane highway during rush hour my gas peddle stopped working. I drifted to the side of the road, with cars blowing their horns at me. My car was like frozen! AAA came after 45 mins to tow me to the dealership. We were told, Yup its the fuel pump, we currently have 3 other vehicles with the same problem. It's probably going to take at least a week to fix. No, they do not provide loaner car. Update: Dealership informed us that there's no time limit insight to fix our vehicle. The fuel pump is on back order and there are thousands of cars countrywide awaiting for the part.

While Dinghy Towing the vehicle behind a motor home the tires lock up, skid and screech when going through tight turns such as cloverleaf on or off-ramps. After turns are made the vehicle handling returns to normal. Posted/suggested speeds or less are followed for the turns. The issue has occurred on numerous occasions and could be easily reproduced under actual towing conditions. The written Owners Manual that came with the vehicle when purchased new states clearly the that dinghy towing is allowed. We purchased specifically with that in mind and talked to the dealer at length about our intention of dinghy towing it. A case has been opened with GM and the vehicle has been assessed by 2 different Chevrolet dealers. No obvious defects have been found by the dealers. The issue is unresolved and offers to reproduce the problem under actual towing conditions has not been accepted by the dealers or GM. This should be viewed a significant safety issue with possible damage risks to the tow and towed vehicles, towing equipment as well as safety of those driving/riding in the RV and also for other drivers around us.

When flat towing behind a motorhome, per manual instructions, going on or off a highway ramp....cloverleaf, the tires will squeal like they are dragging. This does not occur every time, however 75% of the time it does. A very loud screeching, dragging or braking, pulling the motorhome down from 35mph or 40mph to 10mph. This is also noticed occasionally on turns from one street to another, however short lived by comparison. The dragging/slowing is unnerving and dangerous to suddenly slow down with no brake action by the motorhome. This has occurred on several trips this summer (2023). ****Several times this summer, most recent of 10/12/23. This car was purchased primarily because it states in the manual, it could be flat towed behind a motorhome. We are concerned that this may be damaging the vehicle and putting us and others at risk.

We bought a 2023 Chevy Equinox AWD specifically because it said it can be flat towed behind an RV. When towing it, we have noticed that when going around certain turns such as a cloverleaf on or off ramp, as you are in the turn, the tires start screeching loudly, you can smell burning rubber, and the RV feels like it's being tugged on by the car. As soon as the RV goes straight again, the screeching and tugging stop. This does not happen when turning a corner at a stop sign or stop light. We did not notice any warning lights on in the car after stopping to check on the vehicle. I feel this is a big safety issue for those driving/riding in the RV and also for other drivers around us as we do not know the stress this is putting on our Equinox tow connection setup, the frame of the Equinox or the RV hitch system. This issue is happening to other 2023 Equinox owners and we all have different RV's and various tow equipment setups. The common factor is the Equinox. I have not reported this to the dealer yet but plan to do so today.
