My Corvette c6 model has had a longterm issue with the left fuel pump, which I was not made aware of by the local dealership servicing my vehicle or the manufacturer, General Motors. I recently discovered the fuel pump issue, which results in a significant fuel leak thru the bottom left side of the vehicle. GM and the dealership failed to notify me of this issue even though they issued a Special Bulletin that addresses the fuel pump issue and which advises dealerships to repair the vehicle at no cost to the owner - me. I have complained to General Motors and I'm currently awaiting their response to my complaint and request for assistance with the repairs. As of 9:00 am Pacific Time, December 9, 2024, I've received no response from GM. My concern and reason for this report is GM's failure and the dealership's failure to notify me, and failure to issue a recall for this significant and dangerous problem with my vehicle.

This lead to an injury accident which totaled the car. I have documentation stating that the recall was fixed, but after I moved to Germany with the Army, the recall regularly activated the active handling when not needed (e.g parking) but then when we started slipping, the active handling did not engage and we crashed, totaling the car. The airbags did not engage even though the car played pinball on both sides of the autobahn. If we were going any faster, we would have died.

Multiple rim cracks due to manufacturing error. General Motors had acknowledged this but not made reimbursement possible nor provided information if defective rims are still being produced. My car was inspected and rim was repaired by a Chevy dealer and confirmed to have a cracked rim in several spots deemed not due to road damage or driver error. Wheel issues can pose an extreme safety threat as a crack in the rim could make the tire unstable thus creating unsafe driving conditions … cracks in rims can be hard to see at all as well

The active handling applies itself with normal non aggressive driving. When activated the brakes apply and lock up, this has happened in low speed turns at intersections and even when driving straight. I have had the vehicle to the dealership to resolve as this is a major safety concern leaving the car locked up in the middle of an intersection. They stated it was the sensor behind the steering wheel and they fixed it but the problem still persists. Secondly the driver seat has begun moving on its own and inching me closer to the steering wheel with no interference with the button while driving. I have since disconnected the seat fuse to prevent collision from improper driver positioning.

Extreme gas fumes because of faulty fuel pump assembly. When in a closed garage area fuel leaks out of plastic fuel pump top then the vehicle is half full or more. GM to this day has not changed the part design. So you have replace it the same kind of faulty part if you can even find one. They claim since no one has died they feel a recall is not needed. I just replaced mine for $3000.00 at a Chevrolet dealership. Don't mind paying once but how long will this part with the faulty design last? I can't believe they can get away with this. Someone's going to get hurt or killed by an explosion if something isn't done. Long time GM customer but this is not except able. I know the car is 16 years old but this has been a problem since day one.

Fuel leak issue. I have a fuel leak coming from a faulty fuel pump on the driver'side. Very dangerous. Leaking down on side of tank. Could possibly leak down onto exhaust.GM said there was nothing they could do. I have taken it to Landers Mclarty Chevrolet in Huntsville, AL for replacement. Cost is $1963.02. There should have been a recall instead of a special advisory since they admitted it was a faulty plastic that causes the problem.

The Infotainment System (Radio) on my 2017 Chevrolet Grand Sport Corvette suddenly and without warning malfunctioned/failed on or around in 2023, whereby the eight inch screen on the Infotainment System went completely black/blank, whereby my radio produced no audio sound nor allowed me the ability to view the screen (on the Infotainment System) while placing my vehicle in reverse-which is very useful when having to place the vehicle in reverse. I personally believe that during the period (2023 thru most of 2024) in which my Infotainment System was not working properly, that my safety and/or the safety of others was placed at risk due to being unable to use/view the rearview camera while placing my car in reverse. In August of 2024, I reached out to Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center (by writing a letter) re: this matter and requesting financial assistance to repair my Infotainment System. I submitted verification with my letter, that the matter I was writing about was "a well known issue/problem" as reported by Corvette Magazine (which I subscribe to) and with computer prints/verification(s) of discussions in Corvette Enthusiasts internet chat rooms, whereby several Corvette owners also reported having issues/problems with their Infotainment System malfunctioning. Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center replied to my letter and agreed to reimburse me for half of the $1700 required to repair the radio/Infotainment System. . Genesis Chevrolet in Eastpointe, MI. completed the repair of my Infotainment System.

The factory supplied OEM GM wheels on this vehicle are cracking in the rims. This is not due to striking any road hazards whatsoever, there is simply a manufacturing defect within the wheel itself. My vehicle is a 2015, but only has 23000 miles on it. My rear left tire developed an air leak which was the initial hint that something was wrong. The crack was confirmed as the cause by my auto shop. I had this repaired via a weld, but the future structural soundness of the wheel is suspect. The shop has repaired many Corvette wheels like mine and most have come back again for the same problem. I had the other wheels inspected and found out the left front wheel is cracked as well. I am replacing the wheels with mono block forged wheels from an aftermarket supplier at my own expense due to having no confidence in the GM wheels. A wheel coming apart at high speed is an obvious safety hazard to myself and others on the road. GM is shirking any responsibility for this manufacturing defect. There are thousands of threads about this issue all over the Corvette forums. It is shameful that a vehicle that costs over six figures should have this issue. I have never had this sort of problem with any other vehicle I have ever owned throughout the decades, not even entry level vehicles. This really should be a safety recall.

On [XXX] I was driving my corvette in Atlantic City, New Jersey, which at that time I noticed smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle. I looked at my dash to see if any warning lights or check engine lights were on and nothing Indicate there was a problem. So I did continue to drive to get to a safe place where I can pull over and look at the engine. When I came up to the red light, the car next to me told me that my vehicle was on the fire. I was able to pull over on the side of road next to the hospital in Atlantic City. And then I got out of my car to nattempt to put out the fire myself as I noticed Melting Plastic that was on fire, was dripping all my tires to avoid the tires Catching on fire. I Remove the plastic that was on fire, causing burns to my hand. Then I called the fire to department to help me put out the fire. Once the fire was put out. I had it towed to the dealership they Told me to call my insurance company. Doing insurance process one of their technicians looked at the vehicle and determined that the rear Transmission case cracked from a Defective part in the transmission breaking, Which Cause the transmission fluid to pour out onto the exhaust system, Then the hot Transmission fluid ignite and set the rear of the car on fire. The insurance company liberty Mutual Refuse to fix the car due to mechanical malfunction. I then Contact General Motors and file a claim Which has been open for several months with zero repairs done to the vehicle. GM motors also sent a technician to look at the vehicle and came to the same conclusion but still has not attempted to fix the vehicle. This vehicle with a Defect like this is very unsafe. I could’ve been driving on the parkway and the vehicle locked up because the transmission broke and caused an shi accident or the fire could’ve been a lot worse could’ve been burnt to death. Transmission is very erratic to shift, especially when cold. Sometime, when pressing the accelerator, the car hesitates before moving forward. This can be dangerous at intersections with oncoming traffic. The transmission was inspected by a Chevy dealer right after the car was purchased (09/2017) and parts replaced. The symptoms still happen. It was inspected again 01/2023 by a Chevy dealer and the transmission fluid flushed. The symptoms still happen regularly. GM is aware of this dangerous issue, yet nothing has been done to correct the problem.

Experiencing an ongoing problem where the brakes pulsate and vibrate badly, especially after rotors and pads get hot. I am concerned about the safety and possible failure of the brakes if it is not corrected. - The vehicle was purchased as CPO at Antwerpen Chevrolet dealership in Eldersburg, MD with 2155 miles on it. The Carfax noted the front brake rotor(s) were resurfaced. I questioned it and the dealership assured me they would take care of any issue I had with it. - I started experiencing the pulsating at 2550 miles. I went to the dealership and they were very helpful and ended up replacing the front rotors and pads. It appeared to be corrected. - At 3253 miles pulsation started again. Dealer replaced the rear rotors & pads & rechecked front rotors/pads. Ok for a while. - At 3897 miles it started again. Note: each time the dealership was able to duplicate the issue including the Service Mgr and the General Mgr. The front rotors were turned/pads checked. Ok for a while. - At 4037 miles it started again. Service Manager was able to duplicate. Through all of this, multiple cases have been opened with General Motors by myself and the dealership. It has been escalated to various levels. Mileage was put on the car as GM escalation process was ongoing. They then replaced the front rotors and disc pads. - At 5150 miles it started again. This is a serious safety problem as it is a constant concern how reliable the brakes will be. Full details are documented on the following pages with dates. Please reference the corvette forum link that backs up this is a problem for 2021/2022 Z51 corvettes and not just my issue [XXX] GM's answer is that this is normal for a Corvette Z51 package. This is a concerning response. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
