SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I purchased this vehicle under my company to rent and make some extra income for my family. We also had a baby in August of 2024 so wanted a larger vehicle for the family. We purchased the vehicle on Feb 20,2024 and the recall was issued on Feb 14,2024. We were sold a lemon. I went to the dealership and told them they said they will have a solution in a year. Still no solution and I still cannot rent my vehicle because it has an open recall. Me and my family do not feel safe in this vehicle. Please can someone help. I am willing to return the car or even exchange for a vehicle that doesn’t have a recall as soon as I drive off the lot. Thank you.

Car has premature failure from the AC system. My system started to fail between 40-50k miles. Both the AC compressor and condenser failed causing metal pieces to be in the system. If not fixed, those metal shavings will cause failure in other electrical systems including the HV battery.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Forward Collision Braking, a safety system, is deactivated when cruise control is activated. Further BMW sells the X5 with the mode button of the Driver Assistance Package available on the steering wheel. This to me is deceptive. My previous X5 had the system a when I activated it by pressing the mode button it worked. I assumed by pressing the mode button on the new X5 it would also work. To me this is like activating the turn signal- the feature is there, you activate it, you expect it to work.

The contact owns a 2024 BMW X5. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the "Parking Brake Malfunction" message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact depressed the brake pedal, and the brake assist failed to operate as designed and the contact was forced to depress the brake pedal to the floorboard. The check engine warning light also appeared on the instrument panel. Despite the initial failure, the contact stated that the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was later towed to a dealer where a diagnostic test was performed, and the dealer discovered that the dynamic stability control module was defective, and the vehicle was later repaired. The contact then discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V104000 (Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Service Brakes, Hydraulic) which was linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The manufacturer then referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 4,630.

The contact owns a 2021 BMW X5. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the starter failed to respond. The vehicle displayed three different messages repeated start attempt, Auto Start/Stop flash stop deactivated, and the drive train service technician required. The vehicle intermittently displayed various messages, and the vehicle struggled to start or there was a delay while starting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the starter was cleaned, and the contacts were cleaned. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. On another occasion, the vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine starter failure. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired because it was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired for the most recent failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 62,300.

THE BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE WENT "SOFT" ON ONE OCCASION; THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE BRAKING SYSTEM THAT HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING FOR OVER A YEAR. BMW SEEM NO CLOSER TO FIXING THIS PROBLEM THAN THEY DID A YEAR AGO. BMW STATE THERE IS A FIX BEING IMPLEMENTED (IM NOT SURE I BELIEVE THEM) BUT WHATEVER THEY ARE OR ARE NOT DOING ITS TOO SLOW.

My vehicle is only 7 months old. I was driving the vehicle on [XXX] in Tampa between [XXX] and [XXX] at a speed of between 55 and 70 miles per hour and all of the sudden I heard a very loud BOOM and the sound of wind. I stopped in the median and my windows were fine, but I realized that my sun roof exploded. Nothing hit the sun roof to cause it to explode. I have done some research and this has happened to other people on this same model. BMW has refused to recognize that this is a product or manufacturing defect and has refused to cover the cost of the repair. I am concerned about this, but I am more concerned that this is a safety issue. The sun roof was closed and the inside cover was also closed, so the window pieces did not fell on me. I use the car to visit my grandchildren and I am very concerned that if that would have happened with them inside, they could have gotten hurt.
