BMW has issued a Delivery Stop, effective May 16, 2025, for a small number of Model Year 2024 BMW vehicles produced between October 10, 2023, and December 14, 2023. This Service Information Bulletin (SIB) 64 06 25 (Revision 1) replaces the previously issued SI B64 06 25 dated June 2025.

Critical directives for dealers and owners include:

• "Do not deliver to a customer, a New, Certified Pre-Owned or Used vehicle subject to a Delivery Stop, until the vehicle is repaired."
• "Do not use or sell replacement equipment/parts subject to a Delivery Stop."

Important Warning for Working on High-Voltage (HV) Systems:

Repairs involving High-Voltage (HV) battery components or systems must only be performed by properly trained personnel who have completed all applicable HV Technical Training Courses. Working on HV systems without proper qualification can result in severe injury or vehicle damage. Additional safety information is detailed in Repair Instruction 61 00... For Generation 4 vehicles, technicians without HV certification may remove HV components (e.g., EH Heater, EKK Compressor, EME Control Unit) after the HV system is disabled and the "Blitz" - lightning bolt icon is displayed in the instrument cluster. However, for Generation 5 vehicles, specific training is required for any HV component work, and non-HV certified technicians are not permitted to work on the high voltage system.

High Voltage Battery removal and rework can ONLY be performed by a High-voltage Certified Technician with a HV Battery Certification level corresponding to the specific Electric or Hybrid vehicle. Required training courses include ST2324 High Voltage Drivetrain Systems, ST2205 Generation 5 High-voltage class, ST2006 SP44 HV Battery, ST1825 Alternative Drive Part 2, and ST2325 for High Voltage Battery Systems.

Symptoms of a Faulty Electric Auxiliary Heater

The primary symptom of this issue is the failure of the electric auxiliary heater itself. Owners may notice a lack of heating performance in the vehicle's interior.

Repair Procedure Summary

The correction for the BMW i5 auxiliary heater fault involves replacing the electric auxiliary heater. Dealers are instructed to follow Repair Instruction 64 12 821, titled "Replacing the electric auxiliary heater," to perform this repair.

This procedure ensures the faulty component is exchanged for a new, properly functioning one. The repair is considered mobile-friendly and Remote Software Upgrade (RSU) friendly.
