2022 Audi e-tron Pre-Delivery Inspection Checklist

This document serves as a detailed resource for technicians performing the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) on 2022 Audi e-tron, e-tron Sportback, and e-tron GT models. It ensures that all vehicles meet Audi's quality and operational standards before customer delivery. The PDI checklist has been streamlined, with this reference document providing additional information for items marked with an asterisk on the primary checklist.

Purpose of the Pre-Delivery Inspection Document

The Pre-Delivery Inspection Technician Reference Document is designed to supplement the PDI Checklist. It provides in-depth guidance for specific inspection items, ensuring technicians have all the necessary information to complete the PDI process efficiently and accurately. This document, effective February 26, 2021, version 1.0, is crucial for preparing new Audi vehicles.

Vehicle Preparation and Diagnostic Work

Before any physical inspection, technicians must perform several preparatory and diagnostic steps:

• Open Campaigns: Follow all instructions for any outstanding campaigns. This ensures the vehicle is up-to-date with any necessary manufacturer updates or fixes.
• Diagnostic Work: Connect a vehicle diagnostic tester to:
  • Select "Diagnosis" mode and start the diagnosis process.
  • Perform vehicle identification.
  • Untick "Working with Guided Fault Finding."
  • Switch to the "Special functions" tab and select "Delivery Inspection total" to carry out checks.
  • Follow on-screen instructions to complete the process.
  • Switch to the "Control units" tab, launch Guided Fault Finding, and evaluate/process any static event memory entries.
  • Exit diagnosis, and the diagnostic log for delivery inspection will be sent automatically.
• Front License Plate Carrier: Install the front license plate carrier if required. Any trim removed during installation must be retained and given to the customer. If the carrier is not needed, ensure it remains in the trunk for the customer.

Exterior Checks

Technicians must verify the functionality of all exterior components:

• Key Buttons and Features: Check all keys to ensure the vehicle starts and runs, and that all doors and the trunk remotely lock/unlock. This includes verifying all door handle sensors for Advanced Key systems.
• Power Closing Doors: For vehicles equipped with power door closing, ensure all doors close properly.
• Lighting and Windshield: Test the front washers (and headlight washers if equipped) with the headlights on. Adjust aim if necessary.

Interior and Trunk Inspections

Thorough checks of the interior and trunk are essential for customer satisfaction:

• Trunk Inspection: Install the wheel bolt cover removal tool and wheel lock key (if applicable) from the PDI kit into the trunk tool kit.
• Window, Lock, and Seat Controls: Verify the operation of all switches for locks, windows, seat adjustment, heated seats, and child safety features.
• Mirrors: Inspect folding, adjustments, right-side tilt in reverse, and heating (if equipped) for proper operation.
• Rear View Mirror: Check self-dimming function and lighting (if equipped).
• Heated/Ventilated and Massaging Seats: Verify operation of heated/ventilated seats (front/rear). Note that massaging features are only in the front seats.
• Climate Control: Ensure proper heating and A/C cooling, and that all panel vents are open for all zones.
• Power Outlets: Inspect the operation of the front outlet, auxiliary outlet under the armrest, and rear outlets.
• Panoramic Sunroof and Sunshade: Verify open/close/vent/deflector at the edge and sunshade operation (if equipped).

Initial Settings Configuration

Technicians must configure several vehicle settings as part of the Audi e-tron PDI checklist:

• Time Settings: Set the time source to "GPS" and enable "Auto daylight savings time." Adjust the time zone to the dealer's location.
• Language and Measurement Units: In the Setup/Settings menu, navigate to Home > Settings > General > Measurement Units. Change "Consumption (electric motor)" to "mi/kWh" and verify all other units are set to US specifications.
• Speech Dialog System: Press the "Talk" button and verify several commands are recognized.
• Music Volume While Parking: Access via the MMI rear view camera display, then Settings > "Music volume while parking" and set to medium. This applies to vehicles with park assist or a rear view camera.
• Dealership Location in Navigation: Set the dealership location for follow-up during road tests.
• Manual Speed Warning: Turn off the Manual Speed Warning in Driver Assistance Settings (Menu > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Speed Warning > Manual > Select Off).
• Climate Control via Door Unlock: Disable "Start A/C after unlocking" by going to Main screen => Vehicle => Climate control => select the small temperature gauge symbol => settings ("wheel" upper right) => unselect.

Media and Radio Setup

• HD Radio: Verify that HD Radio is turned "off" in the Radio/Settings Menu.

On-Hoist Inspection

With the vehicle on a hoist, specific underbody checks are performed:

• Wheel Bolts: Inspect wheel bolts for proper torque using a torque wrench.
• Wheel Bolt Covers and Center Caps: Install wheel bolt covers and center caps as supplied in the PDI kit.
• Tire Pressures: For a known "sold" unit, set to the appropriate Normal Load Condition as per the "Audi Normal Load Condition Tire Pressure Table" on ServiceNet. For stock inventory, set to maximum recommended tire pressures listed on the B-pillar door jamb and store these values in the Car/System menu.

Driving Performance Checks

Road testing is crucial to verify vehicle performance:

• Electric Motor Performance and Acceleration: Listen for any abnormal noises or vibrations.
• Brakes: Apply brakes at least four times at 20 mph (35 km/h) to clean brake rotors. Check for abnormal noise, vibration, or pulsation.
• Rear View Mirror Calibration: Calibrate the rear view mirror compass to the proper zone and check self-dimming function/lighting (if equipped).

Driver Assistance System Verification

• Parking System: Verify the operation of Audi parking system sensors with the rear view camera (if equipped).
• Head-up Display (HUD): Verify all HUD functionality (if equipped), ensuring the image can be adjusted and that NAV directions, speed, cruise control, and lane assist are visible.

Audi connect® (USA ONLY) Setup

For vehicles in the USA, Audi connect® features require specific setup:

• Wi-Fi® Hotspot: Turn on the Wi-Fi® hotspot (Telephone > Options > Wi-Fi® options > Wi-Fi® Mode "Hotspot").
• Wi-Fi® Hotspot Visibility: Check functionality and verify the Access point (SSID) is set to "Audi_MMI_XXXX", where XXXX represents the last four digits of the VIN. This is done via Telephone > Options > Wi-Fi® options > Wi-Fi® Mode "Hotspot" > Hotspot settings > Access point (SSID).
• Satellite Map View for Navigation: Enable satellite map view in Navigation > Gear icon > Map Settings, and verify satellite imagery appears on the navigation map screen.
