Windshield wipers occasionally don’t operate correctly in the mist, wash and intermittent/auto wiper modes. The dealer has confirmed this problem and has a wiper switch on order but there are none available. Because of this being a safety issue, the vehicle has not been driven and is not operational during inclement weather.

[XXX] I stopped at a stoplight and was sitting with my foot on the brake. With light still red, vehicle went full throttle and began pushing me into the intersection even though my foot had never left the brake. I shifted to neutral and still redlined. Shifted to park and shut off. Restarted and it went back to normal. Luckily it was early morning and I was in a rural community and light traffic. Went home and called Ram dealership and took truck in that day. They kept it several days. Said was showing a code error; but I reiterated it pushed me into the intersection while I continued to pushed the brake to the floor. They did find an inconsistent reading in throttle and replaced the throttle body. I had hoped that corrected the problem and had no issue until [XXX]. [XXX] Left my farm in morning heading for Kansas City for supplies. Pulled onto shoulder of entrance ramp to doublecheck my route before entering the busy highway and rush hour traffic. As I was sitting there with my foot on the brake - same problem. Throttle redlined and (with my foot on the brake) truck began pushing me off the shoulder and down an embankment. Luckily I was an experienced driver and immediately switched it into park and shut it off. Waited a minute then restarted & no issue. Immediately called dealership back and took it in. They tested for a couple days but said it wasn’t showing ‘a code’ so there was really nothing they could do. I said this is huge safety risk to all & both incidents c hold have easily been lethal. They said they sent inquiry to ram but heard nothing. Said I needed to reach out to ram; which I did. I’ve heard nothing other than they assigned a case number & said ‘someone will call’. Every time I use the truck is a huge risk. It’s happened twice in less than 90 days - it will happen again. I need your help, please. I have a clunk to when coming to a stop, the transmission is down shifting, and just before it comes to a complete stop, the truck has a clunk that is felt through the vehicle and heard. at times while stopped the vehicle will lurch forward as though you have been hit from behind. The truck has been back to the dealership several times for this problem, two different dealerships because the first one gave up and was suggested to take it to another dealership per Ram. The truck has been shut down completely two time to put in relearn mode, three transmission replacements, four valve body replacements, and they wanted to put a fourth transmission in the truck, but the mechanic said he doubts thats the problem to Ram, and so now they want to say that its operating as design, Ram asked me to take it to a third dealership, so I did, the mechanic and I went for a drive in the truck, the mechanic said there is definitely a problem, but he would not take on this job because he would not want to deal with Ram and there politics. So that leaves me driving a 2022 Ram 2500 truck I purchased [XXX] that did not have this problem until after purchase six months later. Ram customer care has offered money for my inconvenience, I said I just want my truck fixed, they said they are not going to do anymore. I have a vehicle that has been in the shop for a total of eleven months since i have purchase it, has not been fixed, and every time I come to a stop I cringe because I know it is going to clunk and I didn't even take my new travel trailer out the last year because of fear of it breaking down. I paid good money for this truck, and it seems Ram does not care, they got my money and so they got what they wanted. If Ram cannot fix this, then let's talk about getting me in another truck. I am really frustrated, and do not know where to turn. Thank you [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Had to stop urgently, and my truck shut off. I had to shift it into park to get it started again. Was in the middle of a 4 lane section of route one traveling with traffic at the time. I was a sitting duck until I could figure out what happened. (I’m a mechanic, if the average person was dealing with this I don’t know if they would have been able to get moving as quickly.) It acted like the torque converter stayed locked while I came to a complete stop stopping the engine at the same time. No shuddering or anything obvious. Engine wasn’t running when I came to a stop. i only noticed because it was abnormally quiet and didn’t move when I stepped on the throttle. I’ve owned this truck since the end of July 2025, it was a brand new left over 2024, currently has around 8,500 miles on it)

My 2022 Ram 2500 6.4L HEMI has a long crank/hard-start issue every morning. It takes 5–6 attempts to start when the vehicle sits overnight. After starting once, it runs normally the rest of the day. I also had issues where the truck struggled to start after refueling. I replaced the gas cap and EVAP purge valve, which improved the refueling issue, but the long-crank cold start continues. I suspect a fuel pump internal check-valve failure causing fuel pressure to bleed down overnight. This is common on these trucks and is a safety concern because the vehicle may fail to start in emergency situations or stall unexpectedly. No check-engine light is present. The issue is repeatable daily.” Faulty fuel pumps in these specific RAM models can suddenly fail while driving. This failure can lead to a complete loss of engine power without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.

I am reporting a serious safety issue with my 2021 Ram 2500 (VIN: [XXX] ). The truck has experienced three separate transmission failures within a few months. Each time the transmission was replaced, the vehicle failed again shortly afterward. At one point, the dealership returned the truck to me without transmission fluid, causing additional internal damage and creating an extreme safety risk. I have also had steering issues since the truck was new, which continue today despite multiple service attempts. Shortly after purchase, the truck developed severe mold and water intrusion after the roof stop lamp was removed or stolen while the vehicle was at the dealership for service. This caused water to leak into the interior and contaminate the carpet. The dealership replaced the carpet but the issues continued. The repeated transmission failures, steering defects, and water intrusion have made this truck unsafe to drive. The vehicle has lost significant value, and the dealership and manufacturer have been unable to correct the defects after numerous attempts. I am requesting an NHTSA investigation into these issues, including: •Repeated transmission failures •Ongoing steering defects •Improper repair practices •Water intrusion and mold exposure •Dealer negligence These failures represent a serious safety hazard to both myself and others on the road. I am reporting a recurring safety defect involving hydraulic lifter failure in Ram trucks equipped with the Cummins diesel engine (model years 2019–2024). This issue is widely acknowledged by Stellantis and multiple dealers. It typically begins with a knocking sound and has been documented in many cases to progress to complete engine failure. My vehicle has fewer than 20,000 miles. The lifters were already replaced once, which required the cab to be removed. Within less than 400 miles of that repair, the knocking sound has returned. I brought the truck to a second dealer, who confirmed the problem and informed me that Stellantis has an active STAR case acknowledging the defect. They stated there is currently no known permanent fix. This defect presents a serious safety concern. Sudden engine failure while driving, especially under load or at highway speeds, could lead to loss of power, loss of steering/braking assist, and potential accidents. In my situation, I frequently travel with family members who have medical conditions, and being stranded in hazardous or remote conditions poses significant risk. At this point, my vehicle is not reliable or safe to operate. I am requesting NHTSA investigate the hydraulic lifter defect in 2019–2024 Ram Cummins trucks due to the safety implications and the lack of an available permanent repair.

The instrument cluster failed completely. All gauges were offline, and the vehicle became stuck in the ACC/IGN “on” state. The push-to-start button would not disengage, the exterior lights stayed on, and the truck acted as if the ignition was on even when the engine was off. While driving, no speedometer, RPM, warning lights, temperature readings, DEF/emissions information, airbag indicators, or other instrument cluster functions were available. The vehicle also displayed a false door-open message. The issue was confirmed by the dealership, and the truck was declared unsafe to drive. The vehicle has remained out of service for months while waiting for the replacement instrument cluster, which has been unavailable due to manufacturer part shortages. The problem can be reproduced and is fully documented by the service center.

While slowing for traffic, I was struck in the rear by a large pickup. On impact, the driver seat broke, causing the whole seat to tilt back to more than 45 degrees backwards tilt. This caused me to impact the seat at a greater impact than I would have had if the seat remained in place. The seat being in that position after the impact, made it so I could not reach the pedals (brakes) to stop the vehicle from rolling forward until I used the steering wheel to pull myself forward. Upon inspection after the collision, it was observed that part of the adjustment assembly detached from a bolt causing the seat to come loose from its proper position.

The contact owns a 2025 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster went blank, failing to display pertinent vehicle information. Afterwards, the message that the MIL was not functioning properly was displayed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the instrument cluster software. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 1,200.

- #11699316November 14, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
I purchased a new 2025 RAM 2500 on June 2, 2025. Within the first week, I began experiencing very soft brake response. Occasionally, I can press the brake pedal to the floor with modest effort, and most of the time, I need to double or triple tap the brakes to achieve a firm response. I have visited four different dealerships across three states regarding this issue. Some service departments have acknowledged the problem, while others have stated it is "normal" and as expected, as documented in my maintenance receipts. My truck has been in for service seven times and currently has 7,900 miles on it. This issue is widely discussed among Dodge Ram owners on forums across the internet. It is even more concerning given that this is a heavy-duty truck intended for towing. I tow a 17-foot, 1,800 lb (dry weight) trailer and often rely on the trailer brakes to safely descend hills or exit highways. I sincerely request your office to investigate the braking issues associated with this vehicle. It is concerning to spend $55,000 on a vehicle that lacks basic safety guarantees and performs like a poorly maintained vehicle many years older. Thank you for your attention to this important consumer and safety matter.

The Stereo Screen went black, unable to turn back on the dealership had to replace the entire stereo. In addition, flashing ODO and other indicators on the dash. The IDLE is out of control which shakes the whole truck. Since the screen does not work the backup camera is also off which makes it very hard to backup. The truck feels very different when the ODO is flashing and the screen is black. It is not dealer / transportation mode just FYI. The Truck was towed back to the dealership after a 16 day service visit for the first visit.

The contact owns a 2024 Ram Promaster 2500. The contact stated that on several occasions, while parked or while driving at various speeds, the air bag and Forward Collision Avoidance warning lights intermittently illuminated. The contact stated that the message "SOS -Unavailable - Please Contact Dealer for Service" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on several occasions for approximately a year, where it was diagnosed that the power steering gearbox and the radio needed to be repaired. Additionally, the wiring was taken apart and cleaned, and reattached after finding a wiring issue. The vehicle was repaired each time, but the failure reoccurred after each repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 45.

My screen on my truck went out and had to be reset manually, next my heated steering wheel stopped working. The problem is the cool spring in my steering wheel. Upon research there is a common problem with this said coil spring. This can cause multiple problems including loss of air bag function and front end collision indicator which comes on time to time saying it’s disabled due to this same said coil. Why this is not a recall and the owner’s responsibility is unknown. There is also no indicator telling you if the airbag may or may not deploy when need from this issue.

On 11/4/25 Pepboys Tires in Pelham AL installed four new tires on my truck - BF Goodrich K03 tires. After driving 15 miles, the driver rear vehicle wheel and tire detached from the hub. All 8 lugnuts were missing and obviously had not been tightened or torqued to specifications. While Pepboys is performing the repair to my truck at a cost of approximately $2000, they seem uninterested in the risk and danger they are creating with such poor performance and lack of quality controls. They endangered me and everyone that was around me on Hwy 31 when the wheel detached. They need to be held accountable for their poor workmanship and danger to the public. It is not acceptable to me that they said that location had not had a wheel detach from a vehicle following service for 3 years. They must be better. And, must be held accountable. I have documentation of the service and pictures available for your investigation.

- #11696841October 31, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
October 30, at approximately 8:00 AM MDT. While I was heading to work, I was approaching an intersection with a vehicle in front of me making a left turn in the opposite direction was a vehicle also preparing to make a left turn and as I approached the intersection the vehicle turned in front of me. I fully applied the brakes, and the pedal went to the floor, my truck did not stop or slow down. I ended up striking the vehicle turning in front of me, fortunately at a low speed of approximately 11-12 miles per hour. My vehicle coasted to a stop after which I was able to carefully pull off to the side of the road. My truck was deemed drivable at the time after the accident but I noticed that the pedal is spongy and it took pumping the brakes to get them to apply. I almost had another accident around 10:30 AM, when coming to a stop behind several other vehicles. Again I applied the brakes and they went to the floor. The truck very slowly came to a stop, finally stopping 5 feet from the rear of the car in front of me. This was extremely nerve racking because I thought I was about to have another accident. After talking with my insurance company, they deemed the truck unsafe to drive and had it towed to the repair shop. Additionally, back during a trip to California from September 28 to October 15. We were towing our 2024 East to West Alta Travel Trailer. During the trip I noticed very sporadically the trailer brakes would apply to much or more often appear to not apply the trailer brakes at all. Multiple time I had to use the manual brake booter switch in order to stop the truck. I believe that this issue with the brakes was actually beginning during that trip. I also have done some research and there appears to be several other complaints with the same model year 2024 Ram 2500. When I get my truck back from being repaired I am scarred of it not braking and getting involved in another accident. Something needs to be done before any serious injury or death occurs.

While towing my boat trailer the dash lights up with AEB, ESC, ABS lights as well as messages saying service needed for several other systems like cruise control and adaptive cruise control. This happened on a busy street while in motion causing a loss of all safety subsystems related to braking. The dealer diagnosed as a failed ABS/HCU and required replacement. My truck had 1350 miles at time of incident.
