ENGINE
On October 14, 2026, while driving my 2025 Nissan Murano, the engine suddenly began making an extremely loud, sustained sound as though it was revving at very high RPM. I completely released the accelerator and applied the brakes, but the loud revving continued while the vehicle slowed. I remained able to brake and reduce speed; the vehicle did not accelerate uncontrollably. I safely pulled over, switched off the engine, and restarted it. The abnormal behavior then disappeared. I did not record the actual RPM. Two yellow dashboard indicators appeared during the incident, but I could not identify them with certainty. The Check Engine light did not illuminate. Several milder episodes of unusual engine revving had occurred previously during normal driving. The unpredictable behavior raised concern about a possible engine or transmission malfunction while driving. The specific failed component and cause are unknown. On October 19, 2026, Lorenzo Nissan Fort Lauderdale inspected the vehicle under repair order 300406. Mileage was 10,951 at intake and 10,960 after testing. The technician reported a nine-mile road test, no abnormal RPM flare, normal transmission operation, and no diagnostic trouble codes. The reported condition was not reproduced, and its cause remains unidentified. The repair order summarizes revving during acceleration but omits that it continued after releasing the accelerator and while braking, and disappeared after restarting. I had provided these details in writing to the service director. I have also submitted an inquiry to Nissan Consumer Affairs and am awaiting a response. Service records and correspondence are available.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I am writing to formally document a serious safety incident involving my 2025 Nissan Murano, VIN [XXX] which I purchased from CarMax on XXX with fewer than 300 miles on the odometer. The current mileage is approximately 2,500. On XXX while driving on a public road, the vehicle suddenly and completely shut down with no prior warning. Multiple malfunction lights illuminated. The vehicle retained electrical power but would not move. I was fortunate that this occurred on a low-speed county road (35 mph limit). Had the same failure occurred on the interstate earlier that day, the outcome could have been tragic. I was able to restore limited operation only after performing a complete shutdown and opening the driver’s door, which appeared to reset the system. This is not an acceptable or reliable solution for a brand-new vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

POWER TRAIN
I am assuming it is the power train/transmission. that keeps malfunctioning. This has happened NUMEROUS times and appears to be happening more and more often. i was almost in a collision because of it. It definitely puts my safety and the safety of others at risk. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer and they are now telling me (verbally) that I cannot bring it back Unless I get some kind of warning on the vehicle. Yes, I took it into the Nissan Dealer in [XXX] and they could not replicate the problem. They originally assumed I was doing something (accidently hitting the shifters) but the Rep (Dustin) stated he drove it at the speeds it was happening and could not engage the shifters so it wasn't me. (he verbally told me this) There were no warning lamps or messages. HOWEVER, on XXX, I received an email from Nissan that the "Electric Shift Control System Warning Light is on" and to take it to the dealer as soon as possible. When I took it to the Dealer, they stated they could no Nothing since there was no Error On The Vehicle. They admitted something was probably wrong, but without the actual vehicle telling them, they couldn't help me. They refused to look at it or write a ticket. On Various occasions after I start the vehicle, as I'm trying to accelerate, it revs but will not speed up. I have been able to pull over on all these occasions, stop the engine and restart the engine. It then fixes the problem. However, on Tuesday, XXX, I was at a drive thru. When I left the drive thru and pulled into traffic on a VERY busy Street it started revving and not accelerating. Thankfully, I was able to safely pull over before the car behind me hit me. At no time while I was in the drive thru did I turn off the vehicle. This is the first time that happened. The very next day when I was in a shopping mall, it did it again. I was able to take a picture of it revving and only going 18 miles an hour INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6

SERVICE BRAKES, WHEELS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) actuators are bolted directly to the brake caliper. It has been detected that the factory retaining bolts lack a threadlocking compound (such as Loctite) to prevent them from backing out due to normal vehicle vibration. As a result, the bolts back out completely and fall off, causing the actuator to become loose and detach from the brake caliper.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
One week ago (6/19) while driving the main screen went black. I pulled over and restarted engine 3x with no luck so drove to dealership. Another startup there it was still black. I was told by service manager “I cannot have you drive it like that” and I was offered a rental which I accepted. Just prior to claiming the rental I again started my Murano and the screen was normal again. I took my vehicle but made an appt to have things checked on Monday. At that time I was told that it just needed a software update. That was concerning to me because how would I know in the future it needed an update prior to another incident of the screen going black. Response was that I wouldn’t. Yikes! Additionally, the google assist has repeatedly been of concern with audible requests being met by incorrect responses (different radio station than requested, or static); temperature setting set to 3 degrees higher than requested. Audio will cut out randomly that will only reset after the car is shut off for period of time. Talk to text malfunction and looping. During one errand shortly after taking ownership the backup camera froze and stayed like that for a 25 minute drive. The dealership did a factory reset yesterday (6/26) in an attempt to resolve several issues but with no luck. I also got an oil change. My receipt did not reflect the reset so I requested that be added to my service record.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Four times in the last month or so, the accelerator pedal has stuck while driving. I take my foot off the gas but the engine continues racing, and the car keeps increasing in speed. The last time it happened I almost ran into the car in front of me. I slammed hard on the brakes to try and stop the momentum. I heard a loud pop and the accelerator eventually returned to normal, but it took 4 or 5 seconds. The local Nissan Dealer cannot find any problems, and cannot repeat the problem despite numerous test drives. The car is less than halfway through a 39 month lease. I have contacted Nissan Customer Care and hope to have them buy back the lease without any cost to me. I am afraid to drive the car and it is currently sitting in the Dealer’s parking lot.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2025 Nissan Murano SL, purchased on April 21, 2026. On May 9, 2026, while driving from [XXX] to [XXX] , the vehicle began experiencing repeated failures at stoplights and in traffic. While stopped at red lights with the vehicle in drive, the vehicle unexpectedly shifted into neutral and shut off when I removed my foot from the brake pedal and attempted to accelerate. This first occurred on [XXX] at [XXX] . The issue then occurred again at [XXX] and [XXX] . Concerned for my safety, I drove directly to the dealership for service evaluation. The dealership performed a diagnostic scan but reported that no fault codes were found. I was advised to return for further service evaluation. While attempting to drive home, the same issue occurred again at XXX and XXX. At another intersection, XXX and XXX, I recorded video evidence of the vehicle shifting into neutral and shutting off immediately after releasing the brake pedal at a red light. I returned to the dealership, where dealership staff also reportedly experienced the failure during a test drive. The dealership retained the vehicle for approximately one week for additional testing and evaluation. On May 15, 2026, I was informed that a software update had been performed and the vehicle was returned to me. On May 17, 2026, the same issue reoccurred multiple times in XXX. While stopped in a pickup line at Home Depot, the vehicle shifted into neutral and shut off when attempting to move forward from a stopped position. The same issue then occurred again while waiting in line at 7 Brew Coffee. On one occasion, the vehicle shifted into neutral while my foot remained on the brake pedal and the transmission was still in drive. The issue occurred again at the intersection of XXX and XXX while waiting at a traffic light. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ENGINE, POWER TRAIN, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
Sluggish engine, delayed engine engagement, delayed throttle response. Engine noise under acceleration. My safety is being put at risk when pulling out into oncoming traffic on the highway, engine is not shifting, vehicle not moving as fast as it should. Technical Expert sent out by Arbitrator with the BBB Autoline who confirmed multiple issues with the engine. Vehicle has been to Nissan dealerships, but one dealership said it was a normal characteristic of the vehicle and other states unable to duplicate. Going up railroad track vehicle shifts really hard coming down. Keep receiving warning light for sensor malfunction, also had issue with pumping fuel, driver's front door bolt coming out, video to prove and paperwork from dealership.

VISIBILITY/WIPER, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
3/20/26 my windshield was cracked right through the front camera. I now have issues with my cars sensors not working, beeping, not going into gear, and the car not starting. The crack starts at the very top of my car and goes all the way over to drivers line of sight. I am told that Nissan does not have a replacement glass available to replace my cracked windshield. On 3/20 it was 3 inches long now it is over 2 ft long. How can Nissan take something to the market without OES parts being available for repair. Nissan informed me that they have no ETA of the windshield being released for purchase at this time. I do not feel safe driving this car, but I have no other option. Nissan informed me to check junk yards....

ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
I have reported and taken my vehicle into the dealership regarding sluggish engine. Vehicle has hesitated multiple times while driving which slows the vehicle down and can cause an accident. Also reported gas leaking out as I pumped gas into the vehicle. Bolt was coming out of driver's side door, Matt Bowers Nissan stated they are aware of the issue with other Nissan vehicles, and the bolt was coming out so they put it back in. Door still having issues, losing time from work to take vehicle in and research is needed to initiate a recall on this vehicle. I feel from a previous Nissan that this vehicle has a bad transmission. Also informed dealership with no response that I keep receiving warning lights regarding sensor malfunction.

I was traveling out of state when the climate control panel on the vehicle stopped working. I was not able to control heat, defroster or air flow. Took to dealership. They verified it was the control panel, and the part was ordered but it's on backorder with no ETA when it may arrive and the vehicle repaired.

POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
New leased 2025 Nissan Murano vehicle 7,386 miles with recent software upgrade by Nissan dealer, Keyport, New Jersey. As I accelerated from a complete stop, the vehicle experienced an unintended increased excessive speed acceleration and when I applied the brakes to slow the vehicle, the acceleration wouldn't stop knocking me back into my headrest hurting my neck and right ankle. I had to shut off the vehicle to stop it. I then proceeded to attempt restarting to exit the roadway safely and it failed to start keeping in the lane of traffic. A message displayed to update the vehicle software which I did immediately and was unable to restart during vehicle requested update. I put on my hazard lights remaining in the vehicle as snow banks covered each side of the road and it wasn't safe to exit my vehicle with traffic and ice conditions. I was put into a situation where I could not exit the roadway and vehicles were approaching my rear as I was in a single lane roadway with traffic had going around me when safe to pass. After the upgrade I attempted to restart the vehicle and it would not until I opened the door and reapplied the brake pedal realizing that moment I injured my ankle pressing on the brakes so hard to stop my speeding vehicle. It did finally start after the 5th attempt afyer the software upgrade. After this event upon starting the vehicle I drove it off the roadway and the seats began to heat up hotter than tolerable and I could smell what seemed like burning plastic with the steering wheel heating up too hot to touch. I called Nissan and spoke with Angel in her servixe department to find out if there was any recalls or other vehicles with this issue and she didn't know. They confirmed they'll be be accepting my vehicle for service tomorrow morning Jan 30, 26' at 830 where I'll have Nissan roadside service take the vehicle into the dealership.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
When driving vehicle into sunlight a system warning light displays saying “ Driving Aids temporarily disabled, poor visibility. This warning has displayed during all day parts and occurs immediately when the sun is directed at the front of the car. Have had the car at the dealership and showed them pictures of warning light. Dealer noted car did not exhibit customers concern at this time. I do not know if they drove car with sun on front of car. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs and they opened a case per my concern, (# 56110400) resolution is that Nissan considers this Warning light coming on to be “ Normal Operations”, therefore there is nothing more to do. They said that the front camera is sensitive to the sunlight. I am to drive around with the warning light coming on. I inquired with Nissan about what specific “ driving aids” are limited during this time. They could not answer my question. I am concerned that under these driving conditions, which I consider normal and common, I do not have total use of all the safety features included with the car, creating a potential dangerous situation for me. Don’t understand why they have used a camera in this area of the car that is that sensitive to light.

WHEELS
My wife was driving the vehicle on [XXX] between Leesburg and Purcellville Virginia when a catastrophic tire failure occurred. The right front tire tread totally separated from the sidewall while driving at approximately 60 miles per hour. She told me that she saw the tire pressure warning light illuminate just before the tire failure. She could feel the immediate effect resulting in strong vibration and impact on maintaining control. Fortunately, she was in the right lane and had the presence of mind to pull off the road on to the shoulder. There was heavy traffic at that time and this incident could have resulted in loss of control of the vehicle and a collision. I had recently checked the tire pressures and they were all set correctly. She called me on her cellphone and I drove my car to meet her. I replaced the damaged tire/wheel with a temporary spare. I am a retired Technical Compliance Manager for Nissan where I was responsible for dealing with any safety issues on Nissan vehicles and ensuring compliance with NHTSA regulations. I inspected the failed tire very carefully and saw no evidence of a puncture. This appears to me to be a catastrophic failure due to a manufacturing defect. The failed tire is a Bridgestone 255/50R21 Alenza Sport A/S which is the factory-equipped tire. I lease this vehicle directly from Nissan North America as a retiree. I returned the vehicle to Priority Nissan in Chantilly Virginia to have the tire replaced. I also advised the service manager to report this incident to Nissan and save the tire for their inspection.
