While driving on the HWY the vehicle started to loose acceleration and make some strange noises. When I tried to give it gas I heard a loud pop and smoke starting coming out of the hood of the car and the exhaust.The car shut off in the middle of the hwy. With the moment left I got the car over 3 lanes to the shoulder. There were two of in the car that were at risk if this failure would have caused an accident. When I heard the car making noise and before the loud pop. I went through the cars on board computer to see if there were any maintenance messages or if the car had low oil or tire issues. All the on board messages were good and nothing indicated there was an issue. Then the pop and car shut down came suddenly. I had the car towed to a Mercedes dealership. The car is 10k over the standard 50k warranty. The Mercedes dealership indicated that a rod went through the engine the car needs a full engine replacement and new front axle. They asked me to provide them with proof of car maintenance which I did. The car was serviced regularly for oil changes and filter changes though with Mercedes parts. The manufacturer is unwilling to look if there is a defect that caused this since it is out warranty and wants the repairs paid out of pocket.

SUSPENSION
The rear shock absorbers failed at approximately 33,000 miles. The issue presented with a rattle in the rear end of the car. A certified mechanic diagnosed the issue as the rear shock absorbers were leaking potentially due to improper sealing of the shock absorbers. The certified mechanic presented a document related to a Recall Campaign that is directly correlated to the rear shock absorber issue (please see attached file). The Recall Campaign specifically mentions the vehicle in question ( 2020 Mercedes GLE350) , but my vehicle VIN is not included in the recall campaign. Therefore, the dealership will not fix the issue under the recall campaign. I would like to investigate the remedies available under the current situation.

Gear Shift issue there are several forums with this issue car goes from park to neutral when trying to shift to drive. then goes straight to drive 3 stuck between drive 3 and drive 5 the very concerning issue is if the car does shift to drive 1 it throws itself into neutral while driving this is an extremely dangerous issue ! mercedes has to know because of the complaints extremely upset that no recall has been issued ...

The contact owns a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE350. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact scanned the vehicle with a vehicle scanner and retrieved diagnostic trouble codes that indicated a loss of communication between the fuel pump control unit and the fuel pump. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the contact was informed that there was water accumulation in the spare tire wheel well. The dealer replaced the blown seals and the fuel pump control unit under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V955000 (Fuel System, Diesel, Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the failure persisted. The dealer recommended a fuel pump replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.

There is a known issue With this vehicle with the shifting(hard shifting) there's a glitch when shifting to drive it automatically shifts to neutral then to drive 3 ! the glitch is that its not transmitting correctly to the transmission . if the car does shift to drive 1 it throws itself into neutral while driving that's dangerous !! there are several forums with this issue and I am very surprised there has been no recall this is very upsetting!

The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE350. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered and hesitated while accelerating and depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was scanned, and the dealer retrieved DTC code: P04200. The contact was informed that the passenger side catalytic converter had failed, causing the Oxygen sensor to run lean. The contact stated that upon further investigation, the failure was linked to Emission Service Campaign: 2022080005; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Car was running normally then check engine light illuminated and car shut off. Was able to coast to roadside. Car would not restart. Diagnosed by professional authorized Mercedes repair shop as fuel injector failure. No parts available after the repair for inspection. Because of shut off while being driven in busy traffic, I was at serious risk of a different vehicle hitting my vehicle. Also emergency brake would not disengage since car would not start so could not be pushed further off the road.

P275/50R2i bought this car new after 18000 miles my 2 back tires getting flat dealer did not help and it end I paid $950 from my pocket it was bad idea about Mercedes then in 2023 my front tires getting bad too my car was 26000 miles and it end with replacing my front tire and my rear tires because rear tires getting bad again and I paid from my pocket again on discount tire store on Orland Park dealer refuse to help it’s very bad experience if anyone know how I can get help let me know please I paid $2100 dollars from my pocket on new car value $72000 bad tire Bridgestone Allianz arena run flat no warranty and manufacturer refused to help to now I have michelin tire hope nothing happened

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and two cases were filed. The contact stated that the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. Even when new several times I was unable to start the car through the app or even physically. The self driving failed, but was repaired and about 2 months ago I got a recall notice to immediately take the vehicle , stop driving it until fixed. Feldman Motors in Bloomington MN was who I immediately contacted. The man I spoke to said simply that despite the recall the dealer would not have the parts available for at least 2 months despite the letter from Mercedes stating that they were already available. He refused to schedule an appointment. I have only that vehicle and he also refused a loaner at Mercedes expense. To date I have never been contacted again but today I got another recall notice . I simply do not know what to do except complain. Another dangerous situation happened when the powered tailgate to the SUV opens for no reason and it let to the rear contents falling on the highway. I had to stop at considerable danger to myself but Feldman motors claimed that they won’t do anything unless it happened in front of them. Simply put it happens suddenly, not all the time and I obviously cannot replicate the issue in front

My 2021 Mercedes Benz GLE 350 got AC Conditioning Leak problem (blow hot air) , which could lead to a short circuit and even risk a fire. I checked with NHTSA recall history with this model, and found out 2020 and 2021 models had recall last year with AC issue, but my Vehicle was not included in 2023 recall (NHTSA campaign number: 23V-177). I believe manufacturer was aware of this model AC issue from manufacturing defect, but inappropriately set the range of recall. Please investigate this issue.

The contact owns a 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle came to a sudden stop while approaching a puddle of water. The contact was thrown forward. There was an unknown warning light illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. The contact confirmed that there was no surrounding object that would have activated the Forward Collision Avoidance. The dealer informed her to disable the driver assist and that there was no error code since it does not record. POWER TRAIN, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
The transmission does not shift from first to second and created several dangerous situations in whichI tried to enter the highway. I called the corporate headquarters to make a complaint and was sent to the dealership to file a lemon law complaint. The Transmission specialist at AAMCO said the transmission parts are in good shape, but the problem is that there is too much clearance between the transmission casing and the transmission parts. I told him that this is a defective engineering and these vehicles should be recalled. When I did further research, I found out that I was not alone and that this is a well-documented problem with the Mercedes transmissions. I am reaching out to this agency because I believe that this situation has created a dangerous problem that should be looked into. The following link details these defects. [XXX] The problem with why this has not been reported is that many people that on these cars do not want to look as though they cannot afford the car and just have the vehicle repaired. I truly believe that the government should look into this before someone is seriously hurt because I am not the only one that has had this experience. I was driving on the interstate (on I95) and heard a loud pop/bang ! I didn’t know what it was because my AMG exhaust pops and bangs but this was extremely LOUD, I pulled over immediately to the side of the road thinking maybe I blew my engine and upon inspection I noticed my roof panel was broken and it flew off of my car, this is EXTREMELY dangerous had someone been behind me it could have definitely caused a crash. There are multiple reportings of this happening with other Mercedes GLE such as the vehicle I own, I was told my specific vin is not included when the same part and glue were used on my vehicle. This HAS to be looked into
