Cracked windshield. Manufacturer has not been able to supply a replacement for 4 months. Every time I ask for an ETA the day moves back a month. This is a safety concern for many affected drivers with no apparent solution from MBUSA.

- #11631436December 18, 2024EXTERIOR LIGHTING
On the 2024 Mercedes GLE 350, the speedometer/tachometer lighting does not dim to a safe or comfortable level during night driving. The dimmer switch functions between two levels of "bright and brighter" which affects night vision and makes it near impossible to see down the road. The lighting was tested by a Mercedes technician during the day, against another 2024 Mercedes. Mercedes corporate requested we schedule another appointment? which is on 20 DEC 24. We are requesting they use a "light meter/lux meter/illuminance meter" to determine the lumens per square inch or a photometer to measure the light intensity.

There had been multiple incidents where the battery dies. We had issues where the vehicle would not start. We do not get any warning error message before this happens. We make sure all doors are closed and all lights are off. We’ve had to tow the vehicle multiple times when the battery fails. This has left us stranded on multiple occasions. In addition we have taken it for service at the Mercedes dealership and they state that there is nothing wrong with the battery or the vehicle. They have suggested to replace the battery in 2022. At the moment the vehicle does not turn on and we have to find other transportation options to get around.

- #11629889December 10, 2024VISIBILITY:REAR WINDOW WIPER/WASHER
The windshield wiper fluid will not pump out onto the front or back window, causing poor visibility. The pump is working, but the design of the strainer on the bottom of the pump causes a restriction and causes goo to build up and block the flow of the windshield wiper fluid. Mercedes refuses to cover this under warranty, even though the failure is caused by their bad design. I am unable to use the wiper fluid, and my visibility while driving is impaired. This is a safety issue. Mercedes' neglect of their responsibility to provide a safe vehicle and honor its warranty is endangering us, the American people. Google is full of similar complaints about the Mercedes windshield wiper pump design. The repair involves removing the front wheel of the vehicle, etc., and a repair cannot be done by the average driver; it requires a mechanic. My dealer said that it would cost about $300 to fix, and I'd have to wait for the approximately 2+ hours that the repair would take, even though my car only has 22,000 miles on it and is under the original manufacturer's warranty. PLEASE HOLD MERCEDES ACCOUNTABLE AND ISSUE A RECALL.

Vehicle goes into Turtle mode with the error that says Performance Extremely Limited. It happens without any warning and has already happened 3 times right now. Last night (December 8th, 2024) it happened as my wife was merging into the freeway. All of a sudden, the power got cut out almost completely. The Check engine light turned on, the Turtle symbol came ON and the message Performance Extremely Limited came on. She was lucky there was no traffic, but this could happen where there is traffic at speed coming and they can easily rear end our vehicle. This condition can't be safe. While searching online, i see hundreds of people have the same issue happen to them as well, with Mercedes Benz having no answers to the issue at hand. This can't be safe.

On August 6, 2024 my vehicle reported " The state of charge of the starter battery in the vehicle Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 SUV is very low". We took it to our local dealership to have the battery replaced but upon receiving the vehicle we started having issues. The vehicle would shake and loose power. Upon turning off and turning back on the vehicle would continue working properly. We proceeded to have a local shop diagnose it since our 2021 vehicle was about 10k over the covered warranty and our local MB dealership is not very efficient. They recommended remove and replace engine cylinder head assembly. The warning lamp was for the battery and what followed after the starter battery getting replaced was the engine light. The problem that was concerning was the loss of power driving on the expressway. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Vehicle diagnosis from shop available upon request.

- #11629347December 6, 2024UNKNOWN OR OTHER, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
On [XXX] I was backing out of our driveway on a clear day. Normally the 2024 Mercedes Benz GLE 450e would beep when I get near an object in the back. This time, for some reason, there was no beeping or other audible or visual alert at all. As I was backing up, I was looking in the rear view while turning slightly. The rear of the GLE struck a mailbox that was installed in a large, half-wine barrel base. Bothe the wine barrel and the mailbox were hit with the rear of the GLE. In the past the reverse sensors have worked sometimes fine and sometimes they did not work at all. I have brought the GLE to the local Mercedes Benz dealer. They replicated the fault(finding the reverse sensor was not working) and then remedied by installing a software patch and other work described in the work order that I can send to NHTSA. This may be an ongoing issue with the GLS models or other Mercedes models. It is too soon know for sure if the remedy by the local dealer has fixed the reverse sensors issue. To be determined in an exact amount, the GLE suffered thousand dollars(likely above $ 5.000) worth of damage in body work and repairs to the rear as a result of the accident. No injuries fortunately. Please investigate if this is a safety recall or other remedies may be needed for the GLE to keep pedestrians and drivers safe. Thank you. On [XXX] We were driving our 2025 Gle350 fourmatic west on [XXX] between [XXX] and [XXX] @ 7:30 pm, driving at 70 mph in the right lane the panoramic sunroof exploded into shards of glass and rained down on the driver and passenger, it sounded like a gun went off as the front moveable roof panel blew apart. The vehicle had approximately 650 miles on the odometer. Nothing struck the car, no foreign objects were found in the vehicle cabin amidst the 1,000s of shards of glass inside the car. Upon taking the vehicle to Mercedes Benz of Novi for service, their comments were that we must be mistaken and a rock must have struck the vehicles roof. We have filed a claim with AAA insurance INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Water intrusion. It rained, water leaked into driver seat floor. The water then made it to the electrical parts underneath the driver seat. This seems identical to the recall I am seeing online with the number: 23V-177

On [XXX] Safelite attempted to repair a chip in my windshield but the repair was unsuccessful due to the size of the chip and it ran across the windshield from the top middle to the passenger side. I contacted my insurance company, USAA, and Safelite to get the windshield replaced and was informed there was a nationwide backlog in windshields for these vehicles, a 2023 Mercedes Benz GLE450 SUV 4Matic. Since then, I have called multiple MB dealerships, as well as USAA and Safelite on several occasions and each time, was told I am on a list of owners waiting for these windshields. There are no after-market versions of this windshield so it has to be an OEM windshield. I bought the car new in September 2024 from the MB dealership in Westminster, Colorado. I am driving an unsafe vehicle and cannot get it fixed. I have emailed Mercedes Benz Customer Service but have not received a response. Each dealership is keeping their own list of owners who need replacement windshields, and they claim they are at the mercy of the manufacturer. I want to sell the vehicle and never buy another Mercedes, but I cannot sell it with a broken windshield. How is this manufacturer allowed to do business like this in the United States? Vehicle unexpectedly lost power on a major highway. Limped into a service station, called for a tow truck. Several days later vehicle was repaired with a bill of $2800. Four weeks later, while driving, check engine light comes on. Contact dealership that completed repairs, brought car in. Now it’s the 48V Hybrid battery needs to be replaced, $4000. Based on some cursory research, this is a known problem in these cars. Mercedes Benz needs to be held accountable. The car was purchased brand new three years ago.

I suspect in an attempt to deal with an earlier recall: [XXX] That Mercedes has introduced a new issue. This issue has to do with the vehicle software calling for the camera system to calibrate itself each time it is driven. The issue arises from the fact that the parameters needed to calibrate the camera system are not met as part of a normal driving pattern. The vehicle needs to be driven in a straight line for approximately a quarter mile. The process resets if the wheel is turned more than 10 degrees or the speed exceeds 18mph. As a consequence the rear camera is stuck in and endless cycle of extending itself and retracting throughout a commute. The constant noise coming from the rear of the car at irregular intervals distracts drivers and a passengers leading to dangerous driving conditions. Furthermore attempting to complete the calibration process ie driving a quarter mile at a speed of less than 18mph puts the driver and others on the road in a dangerous condition that will likely lead to rear end collisions at some point. On [XXX], after I purchased the vehicle on [XXX] from Mercedes Benz Midlothian with 57,000+ mile, this occurred. I was driving south on [XXX] near Fairfield VA, when the SUV started popping, with the roaring of the wheels. Then the vehicle started to slow down no matter what I did with the gas pedal. I then pulled over to the grassy area of the [XXX] , and the vehicle completed died - like a brick. The engine would not start up at all. Safety: The issues for me are the facts that I was traveling 1:45 minutes from my home and I was almost smashed in the rear-end by the traffic behind me - due to a vehicle that totally STOPPED on the highway with a speed limit of 70 miles an hours - without any warnings. I traded in a 2014 ML350 with 279,000+ plus miles and had no major issues with the SUV it was a charm. Now I am dealing with a HUGE issues after purchasing a 2021 vehicle [in three days]. I do not know what the problems are - as the dealership has not diagnosis the issues during this writing. There are no reports from the police, dealership, or manufacturers, insurance at this time of writing. The only warning lights that I was grant was the power of the SUV left the vehicle totally. Just ridiculous. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
