SummaryThe Mazda DCA-8000 is required for all warranty battery testing. If the Mazda DCA-8000 is not used, incorrect battery testing may result in unnecessary battery replacement. Use the following test procedures in this Service Bulletin to test Mazda vehicle batteries and to generate a Warranty Code. NOTE: A Warranty Code is required for warranty claim submission Battery Identification (Mazda batteries have 2 rating types) 1. JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard): JIS codes are six-digit alpha-numeric markings (excluding i-STOP batteries e.g. Q-85, S-95) molded into the top of the battery to identify a battery by the capacity (amps), dimensions, and battery terminal type. Vehicles manufactured in Japan come from the factory with a JIS rated battery. NOTE: Replacement batteries may use a CCA rating. If so, use the CCA rating listed on the battery.

SummaryA New Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF-A7) is being used for some 2023-2026 models. ATF-A7 is an extremely low viscosity formulation with low friction to achieve best-in-class fuel economy and driving performance. For easy identification, ATF-A7 is colored Red and ATF-FZ is colored Blue. There is NO interchangeability between ATF-A7 and ATF-FZ. For CX-30, Mazda3, and CX-5, some 2.5L and all 2.5T engines still use ATF-FZ. Verify the type of ATF according to what is in MGSS (TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE TECHNICAL DATA) or what is marked on the dipstick (see below).

SummarySome vehicles may experience exterior trim heat damage such (melted, separating, etc.) when parked near a glass building or Low-E windows. This may be caused by the sun's reflection. If a structure's windows create enough of a curve, the concave glass can focus the sun's rays onto a small area and acting like magnifiying glass direct the sunbeams into a hot pinpoint of light. This magnifcation of the sun's rays can cause damage to vehicle trim (see examples). Additional information and exemplar images regarding this phenomenon can be found by performing a google search.

SummarySome customers may complain of an engine restart failure after i-stop activation, following a stop after low-speed driving (below 20 km/h). Engine restart is possible with key operation. This problem occurs when an IR request happens during an extremely short period (a few milliseconds) while transitioning to i-stop control, such as when the brake is released. In this case, the engine may fail to restart due to improper i-stop control. This concern has been eliminated through a PCM control software modification.

SummarySPECIAL SERVICE PROGRAM - SSPD5 - WARRANTY EXTENSION - MULTI-MODEL - VALVE STEM SEALS CLASS ACTION In conjunction with a Class Action Settlement, Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to conduct an extension of the Engine powertrain warranty related to excessive oil consumption. In addition, there is a Reimbursement Program, for limited qualifying out-of-pocket expenses (prior oil changes and additional oil purchased before the normal oil change interval due to oil consumption concerns) on certain CX-9, CX-5, Mazda6, Mazda3, and CX-30 vehicles equipped with a 2.5L turbocharged engine with the affected valve stem seals. For all Mazda dealers, an FAQ document for this Class Action Settlement and all documents for SSPD5 will be available on Mazda Global Service Support (MGSS) on or before May 13, 2024 concurrent with notification to the Settlement Class. Please review this entire communication in regards to updated coverage for Special Service Program SSPD5 and vehicles out of Powertrain Warranty. Parts & Warranty Information and Dealer FAQ’s on Mazda Global Service Support (MGSS) have been updated. WARRANTY EXTENSION If you have any questions regarding this campaign, please read the Mazda Dealer FAQ’s available in MGSS under this campaign before contacting Dealer Recall Help. Effective October 15, 2024: In the final settlement agreement which was approved by the Court in October 2024, there is also coverage for Valve Stem Seal related repairs only an additional 1 year and 12,000 miles however, this coverage only applies if the vehicle is presented to a Mazda dealer by October 15, 2025 and has no more than 96,000 miles. After October 25, 2025 all coverage under SSPD5 will revert back to the original extension limit of 7 years, 84,000 miles. The Powertrain Limited Warranty Extension is limited to 7 years, 84,000 miles. Update August 2025: The Court has clarified that under the settlement agreement, the Mazda Powertrain Limited Warranty Extension includes coverage for 7 years or 84,000 miles, whichever comes first, for all powertrain components in the Warranty Booklet under the Powertrain Limited Warranty Parts List (i.e. without restriction to engine issues, oil consumption or valve stem seal issues). Reimbursement will also be provided for any Class Member who was denied coverage and paid out-of-pocket for a qualifying Powertrain Limited Warranty repair during the applicable period. If the vehicle is under Powertrain Warranty, please submit the claim following normal Warranty guidelines (with NO process number). If the vehicle is over 5 years or 60,000 miles, • For valve seal related repairs, use Warranty Claim information for SSPD5 (With process number) • For other than valve seal related repairs, submit claims according to normal claim procedure for repair under Mazda Limited Powertrain Warranty (with NO process number) Prior repair reimbursement: Customers who received a class action notice can apply for reimbursement at www.MazdaValveStemSealSettlement.com for certain out of pocket expenses related to prior oil changes and additional oil purchased before the normal oil change interval due to oil consumption concerns.
