SummaryWARNING: DO NOT PERFORM OPERATIONAL TESTING OF THE SMART CITY BRAKE SUPPORT (SCBS) SYSTEM. If the warning indicator light is not illuminated and there are no codes stored in the system, the system is operating properly, and Mazda cannot perform any additional testing of the system. Dealers and customers should never attempt to test or recreate crash scenarios under any circumstances because that could lead to an accident and injuries. NOTE: This article only applies to the applicable vehicles below equipped with SCBS system that uses a Laser Sensor. This article does not apply to newer vehicles equipped with SCBS system that uses a Forward Sensing Camera (FSC).

SummaryThe Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system alerts the driver of a possible collision using an indication in the display and a warning sound when the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) detects a vehicle ahead and determines that a collision with a vehicle ahead is imminent. In addition, the system reduces damage in the event of a collision by operating the brake control when the system determines that a collision is unavoidable. It may also be possible to avoid a collision depending on the relative speed between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. In addition, when the driver depresses the brake pedal, the brakes are applied firmly and quickly to assist.

SummarySome customers may complain about one or more warning lights ON when they start the vehicle during hot weather. The following DTCs are stored in memory: U3000:98 - Forward sensing camera (FSC) stops functioning due to temporary high temperature. U3000:04 - Forward sensing camera (FSC) internal malfunction. The combination of warning lights mentioned by the customer may include: Instrument Cluster Multi-Information Display (if equipped) warning messages may include: Forward Smart City Brake Support Malfunction, Smart Brake System Malfunction, Front Camera Sensor System Malfunction, MAZDA CONNECT center display warning messages may include: High Beam Control [HBC] / Lane-keep Assist System [LAS] Malfunction. Have the vehicle checked by a dealer if this indicator stays on. Smart City Brake Support [SCBS] Malfunction. Have the vehicle checked by a dealer immediately. Note: The center display Warning Messages are only displayed when the customer selects Applications>Vehicle Status Monitor>Warning Guidance>Warnings. This condition may be caused by FSC control logic that is too sensitive. When the FSC detects DTC U3000:98 during high temperature, it stops the internal communication and stores DTC U3000:04. DTC U3000:04 will not clear and SCBS/SBS, LAS/LDWS, and/or HBC functions will not resume until the ignition switch has been turned OFF even if the temperature of the FSC cools.

SummarySome vehicles with Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) may experience the following conditions (similar to when the BSM control modules detect dirt on the rear bumper surface): DTC U1A4B:97 - Radar sensor sensitivity temporarily decreases depending on various external and environmental factors (blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (RH)), DTC U3000:97 - Radar sensor sensitivity temporarily decreases depending on various external and environmental factors (blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH)), The BSM turns ?OFF? and the BSM OFF indicator turns ?ON? in the instrument cluster while driving, The BSM will not turn on again during the drive cycle, After cycling the ignition switch off and on again, the BSM operates normally, DTC U1A4B:97 or U3000:97 is stored in memory. To correct this problem, the control logic of the BSM control modules has been changed.
