While driving on a busy road at night, my vehicle displayed battery warning lights and went into "limp mode" which slowed me down to 25 mph before stopping completely. I was then stranded until a tow truck could be dispatched. The Kia dealer told me that the issue was an ICCU (integrated charging control unit) which they have to order. I have since learned that this issue is known and is common.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
A small amount of snow / ice is sufficient to prevent the windshield wipers from returning all the way to the original starting position low on the windshield. For some reason this prevents them from functioning entirely - they just get stuck in a loop trying to go all the way down. I am able to lift them up manually but they won't do so under wiper motor power / while driving. I have a video that clearly shows the failure mechanics that this system won't allow me to upload.

My 2022 Kia EV6 would not charge on my home Level 2 charger and potentially shorted my ChargePoint home charger due to a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). I tried to charge on a Level 1 charger and the vehicle would not charge and brought up a electrical error message. I then tried charging on a Level 3 charger which worked. I brought my vehicle to the dealership today and they confirmed that there is a problem with the ICCU. This is a serious issue that KIA/Hyundai has been aware of for several years and still has not adequately remedied. This failure can occur while driving so it could have caused an accident or left me stranded far from home. KIA/Hyundai should be forced to replace all ICCU units rather than releasing software updates that do not stop the ICCU from failing.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Most vehicles with ABS experience what I call “ABS shudder/jutter” when applying brakes across a road seam where the road surface is uneven or a rut in the road. In this particular case while applying the brakes across a long rut in the road, the “ABS shudder/jutter” was much worse. NOT SPEEDING and having plenty of distance to stop. With brake pedal to the floor several times, the vehicle continued to move forward. The last few feet before colliding with a pickup truck, although the road was completely dry, the vehicle was driving forward yet sliding forward slowly. Felt no different than being on ice. Collision aversion system did nothing to help avoid. There is also only electronic parking brake and not an emergency brake to pull a handle on to assist in stopping. Dealership wasn’t able to find anything simply by driving around and slamming on the brakes and not finding any error codes. Regional technician currently scheduled to be here the 27th of Jan. Several people online have expressed similar concerns, just haven’t hit anything. I feel that the issue lies with the ABS system specifically braking over uneven road seams or ruts in the road and my experience is being discounted.

Repeat failure of iccu/electrical system. Car fails to maintain charge in 12v over time. Something fails damages the charge. I replace the module 6 fuse regularly on my own because I was tired of taking it to dealer and paying ~$20 for a few extra fuses that cost almost nothing. The car was in turtle mode the next day after a trip. The car wouldn’t go more than 15 mph then shut off. You can’t start it to put in neutral to tow so they MUST drag it into the flatbed. You cannot access items to help you from the rear hatch. The car becomes a giant metal paperweight when this issue occurs an leaves you stranded and at risk of harm.

I have had multiple issues with the electrical system in this car. Even after recall and software update the iccu failed. Module 6 fuse consistently blows and I replace myself to keep my car working as close to the way it’s meant to as possible. The 12v battery has failed twice. The last time after a replacement. The system fails to maintain it. When the iccu electrical issue happens the car stops working completely. It is hobbled speeds as low as 15 and cuts off within minutes if you are dealing with this issue. The hatch will not open the car will not go into neutral to be towed so then has to be DRAGGED onto a flatbed to go to the dealership for repair. The repair often takes significant time.

ICCU failure while driving. Vehicle defaulted into limp-home mode and required towing to a dealership once it fully died. The issue was confirmed to be the ICCU and the part was replaced.

Right front tire failed while driving on interstate highway. Sidewall blowout. The tire is available for inspection. Stability of car compromised could have caused an accident. The problem has not been reproduced. The tire was seen by a state trooper and inspected by Les Schwab tire dealer. There were no warning signs.

Widely circulated and well known ICCU issue leading to 12v failure. There is a recall on this, but people are being stranded and offered only part replacement. Kia should be responsible for corresponding costs associated with their defective units. I’ve had 2 bad ICCUs and the second one left me stranded. Unacceptable.

I was driving and experience a loss in power and got the Check Electrical Vehicle System error message. As I was trying to get to safe location to stop, I got the Power Limited warning message and lost even more power then got the Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply warning. I did not have any warning lights prior to this happening. I had my car towed to a KIA dealership for inspection and am waiting for their findings. It was at the KIA dealership 12/22/2025 for the latest safety recall update.

The car stop working with this message "check electric vehicle system" I towed the car to kia service. They told me nee to replace ICCU unit. They replaced it for free, but still didn't have a car for few days. No loaner car offered.

The vehicle ICCU failed on 18 January 2026. It previously had the ICCU inspected and updated as part of #24V-867. Warnings on screen told me to stop driving and pull over. Had vehicle towed to Dealer where they confirmed ICCU failure and initially were going to charge nearly $4000 to repair. KIA Customer care spoke to dealership and ICCU repair is now being covered. It seems apparent that the earlier fix did not resolve the issue, and raises concerns over whether KIA truly understands the underlying cause. Will the replacement fail after 30k miles? Will I be stranded?

I am reporting a failure related to the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) on my Kia EV6 vehicle. The vehicle suddenly became unable to charge using Level 1 or Level 2 AC chargers. Each time the charging cable is connected, charging starts briefly and then stops within seconds with a “charging unsuccessful” warning. The issue occurs consistently across multiple chargers. However, DC fast charging (Level 3) still functions, indicating a failure specific to the onboard charging system. In addition to the charging failure, the 12-volt battery became abnormally depleted, which required external charging to prevent the vehicle from becoming completely inoperable. This raises safety concerns, as a drained 12-volt battery can disable critical vehicle systems. This appears consistent with widely reported ICCU failures affecting Kia EVs. The failure occurred without warning and has rendered the vehicle unreliable for normal use. Because the vehicle cannot charge at home or on standard public chargers, it creates a safety and mobility risk, especially if the vehicle becomes stranded due to 12-volt system failure. I am concerned that this is a systemic defect in the ICCU that impacts vehicle reliability and safety and should be investigated further.

ICCU failure at 71k miles on 2022 Kia EV6. Owned for 46 months, original owner. 12 volt battery also died when 18 months old, which left me stranded and I had to be towed to dealership Never missed a service or recall update

Vehicle was normal and during the drive a warning light for "Check Electric Vehicle System" was shown, then a second warning light "Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply" was shown, within 2 minutes the vehicle went into "turtle" or reduced speed mode and then finally the vehicle shut down completely. I was on city streets at the time and was able to park safely, but if this had happened on and interstate highway it would have been dangerous. This is a known issue with this vehicle as it ended up being an ICCU Assembly failure. There is also a safety recall for this, but Kia is not replacing the part and just doing a software update that is not fixing the root cause of the problem.

Unsure exactly why it happened, but I was driving in my parent's neighborhood (25 mph limit), and I heard a pop, and the next thing I saw was an electrical warning message on my dashboard. That's when I realized the issue is with the ICCU.
