The red wrench light keeps coming on, Hybrid system needs repair. It looses power for a short period of time, every time has been on the freeway. It makes a hugh crunch noise(transmission) and slams into gear. It is available for inspection, currently at dealership, it has been there for last week. This problem has been persistent, its been in many times for this issue. Chrysler told me they do not have a fix. It is all over the chat forums. We do not feel safe driving this car because it looses power temporarily and on the freeway. Many others are having problems with it stopping from a loss of power. It has been inspected by the dealership and in for repairs many times. This vehicle has been in the dealership on a regular basis since it was new. It has always had a power train issue, clunky and loss of power. Now it is worse and they don't have a repair. It has also had engine lights coming on and off. Had issue with having to put it in park turn off and turn back on to get it in gear. The loss of power on the freeway is the persistent issue right now. These cars need pulled off the roads until they are fixed!

I am unsure of what the complete issue is at this point. I have taken my car into two different dealerships multiple times and everybody keeps sending me back saying it’s running as it was designed. However, the things that’s experiencing it was not experiencing when I bought it, I would not have bought it And the list goes on. Has a random hesitation in the transmission. It revs way too high when shifting, it doesn’t downshift properly it doesn’t shift properly. There has been a groaning in the vehicle basically since day, one when downshifting it also howls when starting and sounds like a dieselThere is a very strange unstable feeling to the vehicle when traveling at pretty much any speed but when you get to the highway speeds, you feel very unsafe. It feels like you’re pulling a trailer, but you’re not as the best way I can describe it. This has been going on since about. I don’t know week five or six after buying the vehicle as I’ve stated I’ve taken it in multiple times. It wasn’t until I got the manufacturer involved that they’ve actually kept the vehicle and are apparently doing things… we’ll see. My reason for contacting is because I have driven a number of their loaner vehicles which were also grand Cherokee And at least half of them I was experiencing the same thing as I was in my own that seems to me like an issue…. the loaner I am currently driving I’m going to have them pick up with a tow truck because I don’t feel safe driving. It has not even half the miles on it than mine does and it’s worse than mine… to me that presents a problem. There are also weird electrical issues. The key fob doesn’t always let me in the door. I have to do it manually. It’s not communicating with the car. The gearshift just all of a sudden locks up and dash reads to put it in Park before I can put it into gear to proceed further. Sometimes the liftgate will not close. I have to do it manually and then it’ll catch the latch and pull down. I do feel there’s a safety is xxx

I am very worried while I am driving it, especially I have a child with me at all times in the jeep. Please help me, I want to get this solved as soon as possible and I live in Las Vegas now where it is very hot.

Vehicle loses power and warning lights come on “maintenance on the hybrid system”. A little red wrench appears down the lower left corner. It all goes away after about a minute and a half vehicle only loses power for a brief moment.

- #11673146July 13, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
"Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. Here is an example forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: [XXX] Many people on the forum believe this issue did not start until a software update a year or so ago. This is a well known and widespread problem, and there is even a DOT Bulletin on the issue: dot.report Bulletins Because this is dangerous (for settings/gauges/units to no longer be useful while driving), and it occurs randomly, I strongly believe this issue should be a manufacturer recall. I am reporting an unresolved safety recall issue on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (VIN: [XXX] ). On February 1, 2025, I brought my vehicle to Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep (3470 Boulder Highway) after being informed that the driver’s seatbelt retractor was part of a safety recall and needed replacement. I was initially told the replacement part would arrive within 10 days. However, more than five months later, the seatbelt remains unrepaired. My wife and I have called the dealership multiple times—she called five times and I called once. Each time we were promised a follow-up call when the part arrived, but none was ever made. On June 9, the dealership told us a new part order had been placed 2–3 weeks earlier from a new supplier, and that the sales associate Armando (“Mondo”) would follow up. No update was provided to me directly. On July 9, we were told the part was ordered again and messages were left with Mondo to contact us, but as of today, no one has reached out. Throughout this process, I have felt dismissed and the safety of the non-functional seatbelt— which hangs limp and offers no protection—has not been prioritized. I never received an official recall notice from Jeep, and I am left with a vehicle unsafe to drive with no clear timeline for repair. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in addressing this ongoing safety concern, as the dealership has failed to resolve the recall in a timely manner and the delay poses a significant risk. Vehicle suffers from a documented hybrid defect (DTC B273C-00) that causes loss of electric propulsion, disables hybrid modes, and triggers "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warnings. The problem first appeared around Feb 2025 and was confirmed by FCA’s own STAR bulletins and dealership diagnostics. No validated fix exists; dealership only cleared the fault code temporarily. The defect led to: • Power loss during highway merge on [XXX], with children in the car • Sudden unintended acceleration on [XXX] • Persistent warnings and failure to operate in advertised hybrid/electric modes for over 120+ days FCA refused to repurchase, replace, or permanently repair, despite acknowledging the defect and safety risk in internal documents. The vehicle remains in ICE-only mode, depriving it of the key safety and efficiency features it was designed to provide. The defect significantly raises risk of collision due to unpredictable propulsion response, and no dealership or FCA representative provided written certification the vehicle is safe in all drive modes. Vehicle purchased in Wisconsin but always registered and operated exclusively in Illinois. Arbitration through NCDS confirmed the defect exists but denied relief, citing insufficient corroboration. Problem was reproduced and confirmed by certified dealership and documented in service records. This complaint is part of an ongoing concern that hybrid system EMI issues (like DTC B273C-00) pose systemic safety risk and remain unresolved. Transmission will "buck" unexpectedly when slowing to a stop. This causes a violent and unpredictable lunge forward. This has been reported and inspected by the dealer multiple times with the assessment just being "that's an 8 speed transmission for ya". There is no warning of it happening, nor is an event stored within the vehicle ECU.

My 2023 Jeep GC Overland 4XE was at the Jeep service center for the same issue in a week. I get a Service throttle control warning, CEL, then every warning light on the dashboard lit up. It happened on my driveway the other day and I would not drive. I had Jeep roadside tow it to a Jeep service center. On 7/9/2025 I picked up the Jeep. Service tec said no open recalls, no software updates and the throttle body module was reprogrammed. A 14-mile test drive was done and the codes did not return. Shortly after pickup, while driving at 65 MPH on the thruway, I got the same error message, Service throttle control along with a check engine light and all warning lights again lit up. The Jeep displayed a reduced power warning, and many other warning but I didn’t have time to look at the dashboard. The vehicle slowed to a crawl in limp mode at 23 MPH, the steering became very heavy and slow to respond. I was able to quickly move over to the shoulder, and I was almost rear ended by a tracker trailer. I got off the thruway, shut the engine off, then back on and was able to get full power back. I immediately drove it to the dealership service center. This is NOT safe vehicle to be in and there are many other reports of this happening.

- #11672612July 10, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Emergency electric brake system has set up a number of times on its own always when it was parked. I was towing the car behind a motorhome ,it is 2024 grand Cherokee Jeep Summit with approximately 6600 miles on it ,the electric emergency break system set up going down the road at 50 mile an hour behind the motorhome. The motorhome has 650 hp engine. I didn’t even feel the brakes set up on the car. I saw a lot of smoke behind the motorhome . I pulled over and it turned out the electric brake set and I couldn’t get it to release. I called the dealer where I bought it to see if they could tell me how to release it. They referred me to jeep, I thought sure that they’d have someone but they referred me to a jeep dealer in Santa Fe, New Mexico The dealership had a tow co haul it to the dealership and told me tow ins were 3 to 4 weeks out before they could get in and look at them . After a month and they had not looked at it I had it hauled to Mike Shaw Jeep where I bought it. My concern is that had I been driving that car on interstate highways in Colorado 75 mph or states where it’s 85 miles an hour and the brake set up I’m going to be in the ditch or in the front of another vehicle killing my self and family or someone else family. This Jeep needs to be taken off the road before someone is Killed. I refuse to drive it.or let a family member drive it.have had no satisfaction from Jeep dealers. I had to have a car to drive so I had to spend another $60,000 for a car..

The vehicle will suddenly and without warning lose power while in operation in the middle of traffic. The vehicle will coast to a stop without power, no power steering, no power braking, etc. This is an extreme safety concern. The vehicle losing power in traffic and coming to stop poses serious and great risk to the health and safety of both the occupants and any other vehicles and their occupants on the roadway. This has now occurred multiple times, due to the inability of FCA to repair this defect, my family’s health and safety has been repeatedly endangered and will continue to be endangered with continued use of this vehicle. The most recent occurrence of the vehicle losing power and jeopardizing the life, health, and safety of my family occurred on May 9th, 2025 with the service appointment initiated May 10th, 2025. At this time no further repair attempt has been made by FCA. FCA has finally admitted that this is related to code B273C

Driving down interstate going 78mph in hybrid mode and the car shuts off and I was able to get over to the side of the road since traffic wasn't bad at the time. Restarted the car and went on my way with no other issues until last week. Driving down the interstate again in hybrid mode and the "service hybrid " light starts flashing and so I changed to all gas for the remainder of the trip. Took it to the dealer yesterday and they had no answers other then they updated the software. We shall see but how it works but I have my doubts that it wont cut off again or have issues. Only has 14K miles on it when this stuff happened.
