POWER TRAIN
While driving my Q50 on the highway at around 65mph my car automatically down shifted to 1st gear. It was a really hard shift, so hard I thought someone rear ended me. To down shift that quickly on the highway placed me in a very unsafe position. My car almost came to a complete stop without any notice to the vehicle behind me. Someone could have rear ended because I didn't hit my breaks. Thank God the car behind me was pretty far back, because if they had been a little closer, they would have hit me.

The car sometimes turning - changing lanes - just various times the rear end will slide around - or skid. Just does it various times - does not matter if the road is wet or not. Infiniti Service did not find an issue - but there is definitely an issue. No certain time so hard to pinpoint what is causing it.

SEAT BELTS:FRONT:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY, SEAT BELTS:FRONT:RETRACTOR
The contact owns a 2015 Infiniti Q50. The contact stated that when she was about to drive the vehicle, her son who was sitting in the passenger’s side seat noticed that the passenger seat belt retractor was locked. Her son was unable to stretch the seat belt to securely buckle the seat belt. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the entire seat belt assembly needed to be replaced. The contact also contacted Bob Moore Infiniti (13000 N Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73131) who informed her that she would be responsible for the cost of the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 96,200.

STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
1. The Electric Power Assist System or DAS malfunctioned preventing the car to steer correctly. When pulling out of side street onto the main boulevard, the car would not steer straight, there was no response from the steering wheel input and the vehicle crashed into a parked car parked on the side of the road 2. The safety of the driver and others were put at risk because the car crashed. 3. The problem has not be confirmed by the dealer our insurance company stated they may or may not investigate the problem. 4. Our insurance company has photos of the accident and damaged vehicle but has not inspected the car components for possible failure. 5. No warning light or messages were displayed to the best of my knowledge prior to the crash. 6. There was a safety recall # 16V430000 for this model and model year but our VIN indicates that there is not an outstanding recall currently for the car

POWER TRAIN
I WAS DRIVING MY INFINITI Q50 and puled up to a light. When it turned green I proceeded when I noticed my check engine light comes. It won't shift past 3rd gear. it seems to be in limp mode but there was a tractor trailer barreling down on me. So I get to 35 MPH and ride the side of the road. Once I got home I did a search and apparently there are A LOT of issues with this transmission. Most indicated it was the valvebody and that it could cost upward of $2,500.00 plus there is a back order on them. This is my only car and can't have it tied up to long. I have an appointment to have it diagnosed this coming Wednesday, 06/09/2021. I can't drive it or I will burn up the transmission. If there is such a large problem I would think this would have a recall on it. My car only has 65, 624 miles on the clock. This needs to be addressed. I am hoping for a miracle when it gets diagnosed but with all the evidence out there about the bad transmission in these cars I am expecting the worse.

The contact owns a 2016 Infiniti Q50. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked before stalling. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine was faulty. After replacing the engine, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired several times before the engine was replaced. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

POWER TRAIN
On 5-25-2021 while merging into traffic on busy I-75. My 2015 Infiniti Q50 did not change into a higher gear as it should have causing the vehicle to not accelerate and lose power then the check engine light came on a few seconds after failure.This failure of the vehicles drive train placed my wife’s life and my life in extreme danger in which we were not able to accelerate with the flow of traffic and was nearly ran over by several semi tractor trucks. The vehicle is in the repair shop for the transmission valve body failure and replacement. I’ve looked this issue up online where numerous owners of this type vehicle have complained and described this as a common problem with these vehicles.

The contact owns a 2017 Infiniti Q50. The contact stated that while his son was driving at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. Due to the failure, his son lost complete control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch. The air bags did not deploy. The contact's son was not injured as a result of the accident and did not seek medical treatment. The police were not called to the scene and a report was not filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed from the scene to an independent auto repair shop. The contact was informed by the auto repair shop the serpentine belt had shredded inside the engine which caused the failure. They also informed him that there was a service bulletin on the vehicle in relation to the failure. The contact's son reached out to the manufacturer where they both agreed to an unknown settlement. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was 28,097.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, STEERING
ENGINE HAS ROUGH IDLE WHILE IN PARK. EVEN AFTER THE FOLLOWING MAINTENANCE WAS DONE. REPLACING SPARK PLUGS, ENGINE SOFTWARE UPDATE, COOLANT FLUSH, POWER STEERING FLUSH, FUEL SYSTEM CLEAN, NEW MASS AIR FLOW SENSORS BOTH SIDES, SERPENTINE BELT, ALL NEW GASKETS ON TOP PART OF ENGINE, VALVE COVER, INTAKE MANIFOLD, SPARK PLUG TUBE SEALS. FLUSHED REAR AND REAR DIFF AND TRANSMISSION. STEERING IS HEAVY TO TURN. THE COLDER IT IS OUTSIDE THE WORSE THE ENGINE SHAKES. THROTTLE RESPONSE IS DELAYED AT TIMES. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD THE WORSE THE ENGINE SHAKES. COLDER IT IS THE SLOWER THE WINDOWS ROLL UP AND DOWN ALONG WITH THE WIPERS. ENGINE DROPS RPM WHEN TURNING WHEEL WHILE IN PARK. WHEN DRIVING ENGINE DROPS ABOUT 100 - 200 RPM THEN KEEPS GOING BACK UP UNDER ACCELERATION BUT CAUSES TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT HARD. THIS PROBLEM CAUSES THE OUTPUT SHAFT SEAL TO BREAK AND REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSORS WERE REPLACED. AFTER A SHARP TURN CAR HESITATES TO ACCELERATE EVEN IF HARD ON THE GAS. EXTREME COLD TEMPS OUTSIDE MAKE THE ENGINE ALMOST SOUND AS IF SOMETHING INSIDE ENGINE INTERNALS IS NOT RIGHT. HOT AND HUMID WEATHER MAKES IT RUN THE BEST. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEM STARTED AT 90,000 MILES NOW IM AT 126,000 MILES AND STILL NO FIX AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. EVEN GOING UP THE SMALLEST HILL INCLINE MAYBE A COUPLE FEET OVER A DISTANCE OF MAYBE 3 BLOCKS ENGINE DOWNSHIFTS TO 5TH GEAR JUST TO MAINTAIN 70MPH EVEN THOUGH I CAN BE GOING 50MPH IN 7TH GEAR. CAR JOLTS FORWARD WHEN COMING TO A STOP AS IF THE OUTPUT SHAFT IS STILL SPINNING AT A DIFFERENT SPEED THAN THE ENGINE. CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF NOT FIXED. OTHER INFINITI CARS SEEM TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. EVEN THE G37.

WHEN I BOUGHT MY 2014 INFINITI Q50 I PUT IT ON THE ROAD AND THEN I STARTED RECEIVING RECALLS. I ALSO HAD SEVERAL LIGHTS ON. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP THEY DID SOMETHING LIKE CLEARING THE LIGHTS WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT. 45 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE I WAS IN A SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT. I ALMOST DIED AND I LOST MY SPLEEN. ONE OF THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY WHICH WAS THE REASONING FOR LOSING MY SPLEEN. I BELIEVE MY STEERING LOCKED UP AND ENDED UP HITTING GUARDRAIL. TOTAL LOSS. I LOST 4,000 BECAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT NEVER MIND I ALL MOST LOST MY LIFE!!! THIS ACCIDENT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY.

MY CAR PAUSE AND JERKS THEN STOPS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AFTER BEING FIXED. THE MECHANIC SAID THEY HAD A RECALL ON THE 2016 MODELS FOR THIS BUT NOT THE 2015 BUT HAD TO CORRECT MANY OF THE 2015 MODELS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER IT STOPPED. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE THE LAST TIME WHEN IT STOPPED. I AM AFRAID THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING DEFECT THAT INFINITI NEEDS TO CORRECT ASAP.

SERVICE BRAKES
MY VEHICLE HAS HAD TO HAVE MY ROTORS REPLACED 5 TIMES OR MORE IN A SINGLE YEAR. THE DEALER SAID THAT THESE ROTORS GET HOT AND CREATE HOT SPOTS WHICH IN TURN REQUIRES NEW ROTORS AND BRAKES EVERY 2-3 MONTHS. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE COST FOR SUCH A LUXURY VEHICLE. THERE IS A RISK THAT THESE ROTORS WILL CONTINUE TO BURN THROUGH THE PADS LEAVING DRIVERS WITHOUT PROPER BRAKING SYSTEMS.

SINCE MARCH OF 2020 I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE DISPLAY SCREEN AND THE GPS SYSTEM. THESE PROBLEMS ARE ONGOING AND THE DEALER CANNOT REPAIR THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. I HAVE ELEVATED THIS COMPLAINT TO INFINITY CUSTOMER AFFAIRS AND WAS ISSUED CASE# 43115404 TODAY. I HAVE TAKEN ATTEMPTED TO HAVE MY INFINITY DEALER FIX THE PROBLEM FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPAIR THE TWO ISSUES.THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE GETTING WORSE AS THE FREQUENCY OF THE PROBLEMS IS OCURRING MORE OFTEN NOW.THE DEALER CONTACTED THE CORPORATE TECH ASSISTANCE DEPARTMENT WAS WAS DISAPPOINTED BY THE LACK OF SUPPORT AND THE REFUSAL TO APPROVE ANY REPAIRS. THESE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ONLY OCCUR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN.

VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND DETERMINED THAT BATTERY WAS DEAD. ARRANGED FOR JUMP START (THROUGH MY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM) BUT VEHICLE WOULD STILL NOT START. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO INFINITI DEALERSHIP. THEY FIGURED OUT A WAY TO CHARGE CAR (WASN'T ACCESSIBLE VIA FRONT HOOD SINCE A HYBRID) AND FOUND A WAY TO OPEN TRUCK TO DIRECT ACCESS AND CHARGE BATTERY. UPON CAR STARTING, VARIOUS ERROR CODES APPEARED. CAR DEALERSHIP HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT THEY MEANT AS THEY HAD NOT SEEN THEM BEFORE. I CONTACTED INFINITI CORPORATE AND THEY ASSOCIATED THE CODES WITH A PREVIOUS DAS VOLUNTARY RECALL. HOWEVER, UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION BY DEALERSHIP, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT DAS UPDATE WAS ALREADY APPLIED. TO DETERMINE THE ROOT CAUSE, I WAS TOLD IT WOULD REQUIRE THE CAR TO BE PARTIALLY DISASSEMBLED. AS TWO OF THE CODES POINTS TO A BRAKING SYSTEM ISSUE, AND ONE TO THE CHASSIS SYSTEM, I WANTED TO VERIFY IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IF A RECALL IS NEEDED. (SEE ATTACHMENTS FOR REFERENCE)
