The Steering Assembly is faulty in the vehicle. I purchase this vehicle as a used Certified preowned vehicle from Hart Infinity in Connecticut. I looked at several one year old Infiniti's as I had an accident in my 2019 and it was totaled. As I was looking, I notices that several of the vehicles had curb rash on the front rims as well as the one I purchased. After I bought mine in July 2024 I noticed that on uneven pavement the vehicle would pull left and right an I had to fight the steering wheel to keep the car in my lane. My safety was at risk because if I didn't maintain control I could crash into someone. I did some research on some sites and there was several people talking about the same issue. Some thought it was the run flat tires. I replaced my tires and still had the problem. Others thought it was the sway bar. I replaced mine with an after market to try to fix and that didn't fix it either. So then I went to the dealership and they checked it and did an alignment. It didn't fix the problem. After doing more research I found that a lot of people was having this issue. Since I had the rim rash on the rim when I purchase I thought maybe someone had an accident and something else was wrong like the lower control arm. I took it back again to another dealer and they said the control arm was fine and that I they did an alignment. I told them that it wasn't the issue that they did that last time and asked them to keep looking. They service rep said he talked to his head mechanic and he said that he just fixed that issue on another car and it was the steering assembly. Now the dealership is trying to charge me $5000 to repair the steering assembly and it was an issue with the car from purchase. After doing more research I found that they had issues with the steering assembly in previous models and there have been recalls. Please hold Infiniti responsible for putting people safety in jeopardy. They should repair a major flaw with there vehicle.

- #11751084July 17, 2026AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS
I am reporting a potential safety defect involving my leased 2023 Infiniti Q50, VIN [XXX]. In 2024, I brought the vehicle to the dealership because the passenger seatbelt warning activated even when the passenger seat was unoccupied. I was told the condition was caused by objects triggering the passenger seat sensor, and no further repair was performed. On XXX, I returned to the dealership for a routine oil change and again reported that the seatbelt warning problem was continuing. I was initially informed that a component in the passenger seat required replacement and that the defect affected the passenger-side airbag system. I was later informed by the dealership that the defect affects both airbags, not only the passenger-side airbag. The dealership advised that the required replacement part must come from Japan. As of XXX, the part has not arrived, the repair has not been completed, and the vehicle remains awaiting the necessary part. My concern is that the airbags may have been inoperative or compromised for an extended period after I first reported the related warning issue in 2024. My wife and daughter drove and rode in this vehicle believing its safety systems were functioning properly. Had the vehicle been involved in a collision, they could have faced a substantially increased risk of serious injury. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA can investigate whether this is an isolated defect, a dealer diagnostic failure, or part of a broader safety problem affecting other 2023 Infiniti Q50 vehicles. The contact owns a 2021 Infinity Q50. The contact stated that the vehicle was recently purchased from a dealer. When the vehicle was purchased, the tires were replaced. The vehicle was later taken to the dealer for maintenance, and while at the dealer, the contact was informed that there were nails in the tires and that the tires needed to be replaced. The contact checked the sticker on the door panel for the tire information. The contact stated that the sticker indicated that the wheels were 18-inch rims. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to install the new tires, and the contact was informed that the rims on the vehicle were 17-inch rims. The vehicle was purchased at a CarMax dealer, and the contact asked why the 17-inch rims on the vehicle. The contact was informed that the ride would be better with the 17-inch rims and tires. The rims were not replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.

While driving my vehicle on 12/06/2025, a wheel separated from the vehicle at the knuckle/ball joint area. This resulted in an immediate loss of safe operation and required the vehicle to be taken out of service. The failure involved the wheel/suspension/steering assembly. This event created a serious safety risk, as loss of a wheel while in operation can cause loss of control and endanger the driver, and other motorists. The vehicle became unsafe to drive and has not been operated since the incident. The vehicle has not been repaired. It remains available for inspection and is currently being held at an authorized dealership. No teardown or repairs have been performed. The issue has not been reproduced because the vehicle has not been driven since the failure. The failure has not yet been confirmed through repair, as no repairs or disassembly have been authorized. The manufacturer has been notified. No inspection or written findings have been provided by the manufacturer to date. Insurance representatives and dealership personnel are aware of the incident, but no corrective action has been taken. There were no known warning lights, messages, or abnormal symptoms immediately prior to the failure. The wheel separation occurred suddenly without prior indication.

- #11660788May 13, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, STEERING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
I’m reporting a recurring safety issue with my Infiniti Q50 involving the brake, steering, and acceleration systems. While driving, I’ve experienced the brake pedal becoming unresponsive, the gas pedal not reacting, and the steering wheel locking or feeling stiff, making it extremely difficult to control the car. The most recent incident occurred today, [XXX]. I had to stop driving immediately and had the car towed to an Infiniti dealership, where a full systems check was performed. However, since the issue didn’t replicate while there, the dealer said they could not determine the cause. The car is available for inspection if needed. The safety risk is severe: I could not stop or accelerate safely, and I struggled to steer — this put me and other drivers in danger of a serious accident. I have experienced this more than once. The dealership originally diagnosed worn brake pads, which I had replaced at an independent shop, but the problem continued afterward. I also showed the dealership photos of the warning symbol that appeared on my dash during both incidents. The car has been inspected by the Infiniti dealer and an independent mechanic, but no resolution has been found. No inspections have been done by police or insurance. Given the serious nature of this malfunction, I am requesting this be investigated as a possible safety defect. Thank you, [XXX] Suffern, NY [XXX] [XXX] Infiniti Q50 2023 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle was parked in my driveway with the engine running for about 5-10 minutes while I was going into the house to turn off my alarm, then return to take out 2 of my elderly dogs; & finally to take out my other dogs. I then returned to the car, opened the driver's side front door & reached in to push the "stop" button on the dash. As soon as I did, the vehicle immediately went into reverse & pulled me down the driveway by the open door. The vehicle continued down the driveway & crossed the street, hitting a fire hydrant in my neighbor's yard across the street. I never physically got into the vehicle to do the steps required to put the vehicle into reverse, i.e. putting my foot on the brake & depressing the transmission shift button. I contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle after the incident & explained what had happened. I spoke to Francisco, but he said there was nothing he could do unless I wanted to pay for diagnostics on the vehicle. I explained that the vehicle had clearly malfunctioned since I was not physically inside of the vehicle to put it into reverse. I asked him to document the incident, but he said he was unable to & suggested I contact Infiniti Consumer Affairs. I did that immediately after speaking with Francisco, & gave a detailed description of the incident. I was given a Case Number at that time. I called another Infiniti dealership to explain the situation to ask about diagnostics, & was informed that the car's computer would not give an error code for the car going into reverse. I called to speak to my dealership service advisor & was able to schedule a diagnostics appointment at no charge. I did an internet search & discovered it could be a linkage issue, which is a safety issue & the recommendation was for the vehicle to NOT be driven. I have since scheduled an inspection with Nissan Corp. but the rep was not receptive to my request for repairs. I supplied a video to the dealership, but Nissan said they did not have it.

My vehicle was stolen by theives using some kind of device to gain access because I have both key fobs that came with the vehicle but somehow they were able to gain access and start it and drive off. I believe this is a security and safety concern for Infiniti vehicles. it should not be easy to steal a locked, secured vehicle.

I was driving home on the Veterans Expressway in Tampa traveling about 65 mph when a sound like a gunshot almost caused me to lose control as I swerved out of fear - thankfully no other vehicles were nearby. I pulled over at the next exit in a public place and discovered my sunroof class had a piece of glass missing and it looked like it was pushed upwards. I knew this is not normal and never had I had this happen in any other car I owned with a sunroof. I had very small slivers of glass inside the car which cut my fingers because they were not visible, along with the tempered glass. Since it was going to rain, I drove home and put in garage to avoid water damage. I called the dealership in Sarasota and they stated this was reported by another customer in recent months. There was no warning there was a problem with my sunroof, nothing hit it, and it had been opening and closing with no problems. I’m lucky not to have crashed. In addition, flying glass that broke free created an even more dangerous situation for other drivers - thankfully the road was empty - by the time I was able to get to a gas station closer to home, the majority of the glass was missing. I researched the problem online and discovered numerous reports online suggesting this is a frequent problem with Nissan/Infiniti - apparently there is already a class action suit, but not for my model. Please investigate this dangerous problem immediately and ask Infiniti to inspect and issue recalls on their sunroofs. Unfortunately I believe they know a problem exists and have not issued a recall for the safety of their consumers. The cost to repair is in the thousands and I am without a car plus there are glass shards inside my car. **I tried to upload pictures but wasn’t able to do it from my phone - I have multiple pictures to share

- #11460324April 10, 2022VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I purchased a new 2021 Infiniti Q50 from Infiniti of Cool Springs on September 28, 2020. There was an incident on January 13, 2022 due to a manufacturer defect that caused my car to accelerate on it’s own. I was parked at a car wash to vacuum my vehicle. I had my foot on the brake to move the gear shift into park when my car rapidly accelerated which caused me to crash through a metal fence that separated the car wash from the adjacent property. I have an added safety feature on my vehicle to prevent a forward collision with emergency breaking that also didn’t implement. There wasn’t any warnings, indications or symptoms beforehand. I had my Infiniti for 16 months with only 20,766 miles on it at the time of the incident. This malfunction could present a serious public safety issue. I or someone else could have been seriously injured in a different scenario. It was fortunate that I was stopped and no one was in front of the car. Nissan issued a recall on April 3, 2021 for the problem of rapid acceleration. The dealership without my knowledge completed the recall on my vehicle on April 1, 2021 which evidently didn’t fix the problem. Nissan and the dealership have been and are therefore aware of the problem. Infiniti Consumer Affairs nor the dealership want to assume any responsibility for the malfunction. An inspection has not been performed yet. Infiniti Consumer Affairs requires me to assume responsibility for the cost of a rental during the 6 - 8 week inspection of my vehicle along with the cost of any storage fees. The vehicle can be inspected at Infiniti of Cool Springs. It’s been there since the incident.
