- #11690168September 28, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I was driving my vehicle through a parking lot at a low rate of speed (approximately 5 mph) with my wife and three children in the car. A pedestrian suddenly stepped out from a shopping strip on the passenger side to cross the road, about 8–10 feet in front of my vehicle. I immediately attempted to apply the brakes manually. However, the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system unexpectedly took over and completely prevented me from braking. At that moment: - The car began vibrating and shaking while continuing forward at the same speed. - The brake pedal was locked and completely unresponsive to my repeated attempts to press it. - The pedestrian, realizing the vehicle was not stopping, was forced to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. After several seconds, the automatic braking system finally disengaged, at which point the brake pedal returned to normal function and I was able to regain manual control. This incident was extremely dangerous and could have resulted in a catastrophic accident, with both my family and the pedestrian at serious risk. The automatic braking system not only failed to stop for a pedestrian directly in front of the vehicle, but it also disabled my ability to manually apply the brakes.

- #11690139September 28, 2025LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? ---------- Nothing failed but the lane assist feature forces the car to drive hugging the left lane and not on the center of the road. This can be very dangerous on a freeway when passing big wide trucks. If you use the cruise control this feature automatically turns itself on. . How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? ------ When the lane assist is turned on the car drives close to the left line and not on the center of the road and this could be very dangerous when passing large wide vehicles or those with wide trailers. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? ------------ Yes. I took it to the dealer and they said that's how the car was designed and there is nothing they can do. They asked me to contact the Hyundai Customer Affairs. I opened a case number with Hyundai Customer Affairs. They said that if the dealer did not find a problem then there is nothing they can do. I am stuck with the problem. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? ------------------- See above. When I googled to see if other people are complaining about the issue, I found out that there are other people complaining but no formal complaint has been put forward. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? ------------ The issue has existed from the dealer. There are no warnings or anything

The air compressor on my 2020 Hyundai Palisade with 55,321 miles has completely malfunctioned. The issue was diagnosed by Five Star Hyundai Dealership in Macon, Georgia on 9/26/25 and is currently available for inspection. The repair will cost $1,781. A failed A/C compressor in a 5-year-old vehicle could put my safety or others’ safety at risk due to reduced visibility from poor defrosting, driver impairment from extreme heat, and secondary damage affecting critical systems like steering or electrical power. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to air compressor failure. However, Hyundai has issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) for certain 2020–2022 Palisade vehicles regarding the AC compressor. Bulletin 24-HA-003H: This TSB addresses reduced AC performance due to an "out of specification" AC compressor pulley and hub assembly. - #11689835September 26, 2025Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness
Magnetic chest clip will pop open after clipped. With one finger underneath you can entirely pop it open. Our original chest did the same thing, so chicco sent a new one and now just about a year later, this one also failed. Chicco is now sending a non-magnetic chest clip to remedy, however, this seems to be a further reaching problem. I am a CPST.

When I am braking on a road with bad condition (bumpy, uneven, some minor potholes, etc.) the car starts to skid causing the wheel to shake, I lose control of the vehicle, and my stopping distance increases. It's like the ABS is overly sensitive and kicks in whenever the road has any of the problems stated above. This has almost led me to rear-end another car who is in front of me several times. This problem happens almost daily. My children, husband, and I drive in this car daily and it puts all of us at risk. I took my car to a Hyundai dealership , (Napelton's Auto Park of Urbana) and they were not able to reproduce the problem, therefore they could not find anything wrong. The vehicle and component have not been inspected by anyone except for the dealership mentioned. No warning lights, messages, and other symptoms have been displayed at any point in time, before, during, or after the problem occurs.

- #11689441September 24, 2025UNKNOWN OR OTHER, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
This vehicle has driver-assist functions and warning lamps in the electronic instrument cluster located in the driver's display area. Randomly and unpredictably a group of warning lights -- "check blind spot" collision alarm, lane safety indicator light, triangle-shaped general alert icon -- all activate simultaneously for no apparent reason. The unpredictability creates a serious distraction to the driver and potentially unsafe reactions which could result in damages and injuries. There are numerous references to this problem on the internet, indicating this is a widespread safety issue for Hyundai models. Dealer said possible recall imminent.

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while reversing out of the garage, the powered front driver's seat suddenly began to move backwards, and the contact was unable to reach the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The powered seat then moved forward, causing the seat belt to tighten around the waist of the driver. The contact was able to put the vehicle in park and stopped the vehicle. During the failure, no injuries were reported. Also, the contact indicated that previously, while driving at an undisclosed speed, a message was displayed that the vehicle was driving the wrong way. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving down a dark and unfamiliar road. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 10,000.

The engine has been intermittently cutting off every day. We have taken it to the dealership multiple times, and they say they cannot recreate the issue, so there is absolutely nothing that they can do. The vehicle will shake a little bit and then turn off.

The ABS system has malfunctioned 4 times now while braking when going over an uneven surface- railroad tracks, uneven older roads in the area. The car will start shaking and lunge forward even with the brake all the way down to floor. This has caused me to almost hit 4 vehicles now. Yes, it is available for inspection. My safety, as well as others on the road are put at risk until this issue is fixed. The first dealership i took the vehicle to on 8/28/25 told me there were no issues and couldn't find anything wrong. The problem has since been replicated by the 2nd dealer who has looked at the vehicle 9/22/25. No warnings or messages popped up on the dash at any occurrence. Their response was that they called the manufacturer and explained the issue and they were told that this is normal and is intended to do this- continue to move towards other vehicles when brake is engaged. This does not seem to be correct and appears that there is even a class-action lawsuit for the same issue that was filed early 2025.

The braking system has been an ongoing issue, shuddering and grinding when braking and hitting an uneven surface, especially at slower speeds. It has consistently become worse, shuddering, grinding and not stopping when going down a driveway. Tonight when going less than 20MPH and on a smooth surface, it would not stop when coming up to a light/intersection. The shuddering and grinding was much worse and the car kept going forward as if it were on a sheet of ice. The car slid forward more than 20 feet, coming within a few inches of rear-ending the vehicle ahead. It was terrifying! It did the same thing 2 more times in the 3.5 miles to my driveway. Thank goodness there was no other traffic. This is not normal at all and I’m in fear of driving it again.

On [XXX] around [XXX], turned right from [XXX] is very bumpy due to potholes. My palisade’s ABS kicked in and I was not able to break my car before the red traffic light. The car went over the light. If there was a car in front of me, I wouldn’t be able to stop my car without accident. This is not the first time my palisade’s ABS suddenly engaged. The ABS seems always kick in when driving in low speed on a bumpy road. I am concerned someday I will have an accident due to the faulty ABS. ABS system is malfunctioning when going over bumps. For instance, I tried braking when going over small bumps and car started jerking and skidding almost rear ending car and finally brakes kicked in at end. Happened 4 times now after buying it a year ago. This is a known incident online that needs to be addressed. Could be very dangerous at higher speeds and cause a wreck. Dealers apparently aren’t doing anything or Hyundai.

Since early ownership, my Palisade’s ABS activates improperly on bumpy/uneven surfaces like railroad tracks, construction zones, causing brake pedal pulsing, vibrations, and significantly longer stopping distances. Braking feels ineffective, as if the brakes “don’t catch,” unlike my wife’s new SUV, which brakes normally on similar surfaces. This occurs at low to moderate speeds (10-40 mph) on dry, rough roads like potholes or gravel, but not on smooth pavement. I believe the ABS/traction control system misreads wheel speed, reducing braking efficiency and posing a safety risk. The issue occurs 2-3 times weekly crossing railroad tracks near my home and daily on my highway commute through construction zones. I must maintain extra following distance (4-5 car lengths at 40 mph) to compensate, which is challenging in traffic. This defect nearly caused two collisions. In both, braking on rough surfaces at ~30-40 mph (with 2-3 car lengths ahead) extended stopping distances, forcing me to swerve into the breakdown lane to avoid rear-ending vehicles. This endangers my family and contradicts Hyundai’s safety ratings, a key reason for my purchase. I reported this to Branfon Hyundai in East Haven, Connecticut at my 7,000-mile oil change around November 2024 and was verbally told it was fineand again at 14,000 miles and asked them to document it April 2025. Both times, they documented my complaint but claimed it was “normal ABS behavior” and felt typical, offering no repairs or diagnostics. After another recent incident today I research the issue and the [XXX] v. Hyundai lawsuit (filed May 2025, CA) confirm similar ABS issues in 2023-2025 Palisades. Please investigate this ABS defect for a recall to fix braking performance. My family relies on this vehicle’s safety and was the main reason I bought it and most people who have families are sold at this safety award. I can provide service records or videos if needed. Vehicle Information: Year: 2020 Make: Hyundai Model: Palisade Component(s): Air Conditioning System / A/C Compressor Problem Description: The air conditioning compressor on my 2020 Hyundai Palisade has failed and does not function properly. The A/C system does not blow cold air, making the vehicle extremely uncomfortable and unsafe in hot weather conditions, especially with small children riding in the vehicle. Hyundai has issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) regarding a known defect with the A/C compressor in this model. Despite this, the dealership and manufacturer have refused to cover the repair or replacement under warranty or goodwill, even though this is clearly a widespread and acknowledged defect. I was quoted nearly $5,000 for the repair, which I cannot afford. Safety Concern: While the issue may appear to be only comfort-related, lack of functioning A/C creates real safety risks: Heat-related health concerns in hot climates, particularly for small children and elderly passengers. Reduced visibility if the defroster system does not work properly (since the A/C system is needed to remove moisture and fog from windows). Timeline of Events: Vehicle purchased: Purchased December 2023 First noticed issue: [XXX] Brought vehicle to dealership: [XXX] Dealer confirmed issue with A/C compressor but refused repair, citing that only certain VINs or conditions are covered, even though a TSB exists. Request: I am filing this complaint because Hyundai is aware of this widespread A/C compressor defect (per their TSB) but is not providing proper warranty coverage or resolution. This places an unfair financial burden on consumers and presents a potential safety hazard, especially for families with small children who cannot safely ride in extreme heat without a functioning A/C system. - #11688662September 20, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I am writing to formally report a safety concern regarding the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) in the 2024 Hyundai Palisade, which I believe may be a widespread issue affecting this model year. The problem has raised significant safety concerns, as it directly impacts the vehicle's braking performance. Recently, I began experiencing issues with the ABS system in my 2024 Hyundai Palisade. The brake pedal feels unusually soft or pulsates when braking, and there have been instances of skidding or loss of traction during routine stops were I have ended up in the middle of an intersection. I took the vehicle to a Hyundai service center, where they claim the system was performing normal. The technicians noted that the issue could be linked to the ABS control module or wheel speed sensors, but they could not provide a definitive diagnosis. The system has not been able to function properly since the issue started, and I am concerned about the vehicle’s safety. As a safety-critical system, the ABS is essential for maintaining control of the vehicle during braking situations, particularly under adverse driving conditions. The malfunctioning ABS system poses a significant risk to the safety of both the driver and passengers, as well as other road users. The inability to rely on the ABS system increases the risk of accidents, particularly in situations where braking efficiency is crucial. I have contacted my local Hyundai dealership for assistance, and they have attempted to address the issue through diagnostics and repairs. However, the problem persists, and I am concerned that this may not be an isolated case but rather a widespread defect affecting other 2024 Palisade owners. Given the severity of this issue and its potential to affect a large number of consumers, I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this problem to determine if it is a manufacturer defect that warrants a recall.

Happened to both my wife and I. As we attempt to stop the vehicle (for her at a stop sign, for me in a parking space), the car engages ABS and the car won't stop. Feels like you're trying to brake on ice. Very dangerous, I almost drove into a wall, she almost hit someone. We discovered that they have identified this as a problem and have offered no solution. I was told by the dealer "just tell your wife to go slow over speed bumps," and I corrected him that it seems to have nothing to do with speed bumps or not. And besides, that is not a correction that will make the car safe. Also discovered a class action lawsuit filed on May 9th 2025 for this exact issue. Many many driver reports online.
