The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with piston failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Horn has stopped working. A driver was about to change lanes into my vehicle on the highway, and I went to honk my horn to alert them, but it would not work. It is unclear if the issue is with the sensor in the steering wheel, or with the wiring or horn itself. I have continued to test the horn over the next few days and confirmed that the issue is persistent. The lack of a horn meant I was nearly able to avoid an accident by swerving away from the other vehicle. If there had not been a gap in traffic, I wouldn't have been so lucky. The vehicle is available for inspection. I have an appointment with the dealer on Friday 1/3/25 to have this addressed, likely under warranty. No one else has inspected the vehicle at this time, and there are no warning notifications, etc.

While driving at highway speeds the vehicle will suddenly decelerate forcing vehicles behind said vehicle to make defensive maneuvers to avoid hitting our vehicle. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership twice for this condition. This time we were told it was the EGR valve, but it was on backorder. We are now forced to drive this vehicle until it is repaired.

The door locks are faulty and do not allow the door to open. This is the second time the vehicle has had issues with the doors not unlocking. The first time it was my front passenger side a few years ago and I paid an auto shop to repair it as this was an immediate safety concern in case of a car accident or fire. A few months later Hyundai issues a recall and sent me an email about the faulty door locks and that they could be repaired at a Hyundai. I called to ask for reimbursement since I paid out of pocket and they refused. Now another door lock is broken, this time the rear driver side, and I have the same safety concerns as before since the door does not open from the inside or outside. In both cases, the issue was sudden and no other damage occurred to the vehicle. It's unsafe to have to drive with doors that cannot unlock from either inside or outside.

On June 13 2023, I received an alert on my dashboard that my cruise control was unable to be used due to an issue with the front sensor. The alert went away soon after but then reappeared on August 27th, 2023 the error appeared again. Specifically error code C162078. I wasn't able to get the issue repaired until November 2023, which is also where they replaced my faulty backup camera.

At the beginning of December 2022 (a year after I purchased my brand new vehicle), two of the ignition coils misfired. I was driving down the highway and suddenly my car lost power and then cut off. I was able to start it again, but it would not drive faster than 25mph and would randomly lose power again. On December 7th, 2022 I took it to Hyundai and they were able to replace the two coil packs under the warranty. However, they didn't change the spark plugs (unbeknownst to me), a few months later I decided to change my spark plugs (which had to be purchased directly from Hyundai for $120), all of my spark plugs were completely burnt and looked terrible. There was a caution signal on my dash board and after running an OBD code scanner, one of the error codes that were triggered were "P030400".

For the second time in two years, my horn suddenly stopped working. About 6 months after purchasing the car, the horn began to sound high pitched. Then about three weeks later the horn stopped working, requiring the replacement of the horn. A month later, the horn sounded high pitched again. Hyundai advised me the horn is a "two-horn system" in which a high pitch and low pitch horn produce the horn noise. The low pitch keeps failing. About 4 months after the horn was only sounding a high pitched sound, the horn stopped when I hit the horn to avoid an oncoming driver.

AIR BAGS
On [XXX] at about 1:40 p.m. I was driving to work, and got distracted and had a front-end collision with a tree that was about 1-3 feet next to the side of the road. Extensive damage to the vehicle, and personal injuries occurred (mild concussion, stress fracture of left forearm, bruising/abrasion on ride side torso, sprained left thumb, and abrasions on head). Both the driver and passenger airbags did not deploy which contributed to me almost flying through the windshield. The emergency responders and tow truck operator were very surprised I wasn't in critical condition or dead and noted that the airbags failing was a serious issue and I was lucky. This was reported to the manufacturer and geico insurance on December 20th, and I am currently awaiting to hear back from both to get the inspections scheduled. The vehicle is currently located at OC's Auto at 598 Armistead Blvd, Holt FL 32564. I have already signed papers giving permission for inspections by the insurance company if they request it, but currently inspections haven't been done yet to determine damage estimates or to investigate the airbags. High Beam Assist, Check Rear Cross-Traffic Safety System, Check Blind-spot safety system, Check forward safety system, Check Lane Keep Assist System, Traction Control disabled. ALL of those messages came on while driving. Rear backup camera quit working, reverse lights do not engage. No remedy for recall still. Vehicle is unsafe to operate without recall being fixed. This is my only transportation, FIX it!!!

On six seperate occasions since I purchased new my traction control light flashed and the vehicle jerked and would lose power. It would then gain and lose power again. Four of these occurances happened in the last few months. It would not subside until I stopped the car. I took the car to the dealer three times and they said they could not duplicate the problem. They also said there were no codes in the car system history that showed any problems. I contacted Hyundai USA for advice. They said to bring it into the dealer and ask them to inspect the car again. That was visit number 3 and the results were the same. The person from Hundai said she would let her supervisor know of my concern for the vehicle safety but I never heard back.
