I was at a traffic light, when the light turned green I gave the car gas it hesitated, then went into neutral, the battery sign showed on the dash, the car would not go. I was 1 line under half a tank of gas, so I wasn’t empty. Also, just before this happened the radio became full of static on an FM channel. It wouldn’t allow me to switch to park to try and restart it. Scary and Frustrating!!!

After numerous weeks of troubleshooting the dealer finally told me the low pressure fuel pump is faulty. That part number is included in numerous recalls on other vehicles yet my vehicle is not covered. This is the 3rd faulty part on this car I have experienced. This also probably led to the starter failing just before this part failed. All in under 4 years of ownership and 76k miles. These parts are faulty but Honda is making me pay for them even though there are recalls for the same parts in adjacent vehicles. This is a failure of the recall system.

The sunroof spontaneously shattered while I was driving approximately 75 mph on M-113. The roof was tilted open. There was no vehicle immediately around me, no truck, no apparent road debris or impact, and the weather was dry and approximately 58°F. The glass shattered into the passenger compartment and onto me.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V365000 (Structure, Suspension). After retrieving the vehicle, while driving 60 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. While depressing the brake pedal the contact heard a sliding sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle. The dealer stated that the sound might be coming from the heat shield. The mechanic determined that the screws were loose and the rear assembly might detach. The mechanic tightened the bolts and contacted the manufacturer for authorization. The mechanic stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive as is and the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the dealer confirmed that the part was properly tightened and the vehicle was safe to drive. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 91,169.

There is a defect issue with the driver's seat in this vehicle that is causing me to become distracted while driving. From the first time I sat in the vehicle, the driver’s seat produces a hard, localized pressure, like a bar or box, under the rear of the seat cushion that presses into my tailbone and the back of the seat bones. This is not delayed fatigue after a long trip. It is immediate. I have tried multiple combinations of seat height, tilt, recline, and lumbar. None of them remove the ridge. This vehicle has only about 900 miles. The sensation has not broken in or gone away. The seat is the ventilated (cooled) leather seat that is standard on TrailSport Elite. The hard spot is consistent with the ventilation housing/fan box under the cushion at the junction of the seat bottom and seatback. The sensation becomes like “sitting on a box,” tailbone/coccyx pressure and the need to shift constantly while driving.

* Purchased this vehicle used from Eckert Hyundai-Denton Texas - mileage 45,835 * 2024 Honda Passport Blk Edition-VIN [XXX] mileage - 48,406 * Reference NHTSA EA25004, Honda Service Bulletin 23-008 1-Having issues with engine/idle/restart allowing vehicle to die at red lights and failing to restart(engine dying/difficult to restart). This caused the vehicle to die several times at a red light and we could not get it easily started again, resulting in traffic delays and very upset drivers behind me. Finally able to restart after several attempts. Have to disengage this feature each time we drive now. 2-Also having issues with what appeared to be weak or dying battery. 3- Took to Honda Cars of McKinney, they diagnosed with weak battery, and replaced it at a cost to me of $402.08 at mileage 46,868 on XXX. 4- I am still having issues with 'reluctant/slow to start' issues, and engine/idle/restart 5- I would like this to be included in NHTSA EA25004, issued XXX if possible. The improperly designed or manufactured MOST coaxial cable can deform its terminals. This leads to intermittent connection losses between the audio display unit and the vehicle cable connector. If connection loss lasts for more than 20 seconds while the vehicle is in reverse, the rearview camera image fails to display. This increases the risk of a crash or injury. Honda issued a recall notice to replace with a new harness. The replacement did not fix the underlying problem. Our vehicle was “repaired” under the recall but the problem persisted. We were told by our local Honda dealership that we would need to replace the entire AV system to remediate the issue. We paid to have that work done, and the issue has started again. The dealership called Honda to consult with its technicians and they say that the issue is caused by the replacement harness. The work completed under the recall did not remediate the underlying safety issue, we paid thousands of dollars to try to fix it, and are now being told we would have to pay $5000 to repair a manufacturing defect

Vehicle Information: 2025 Honda Passport (Purchased in 2024, approximately 44,000 miles)Safety Defect Summary:The vehicle experienced a sudden and dangerous failure to restart during an Auto Idle-Stop event. While stopped at a traffic intersection, the Auto Idle-Stop system engaged and shut off the engine normally. However, when I lifted my foot off the brake pedal to accelerate, the vehicle failed to restart, completely stalled, and left me stranded in live traffic. The dashboard displayed error messages, and the vehicle required a mechanical inspection confirming a premature starter motor failure.Safety Risk & Hazard:This defect presents an immediate safety hazard. The engine stalling unexpectedly in the middle of active traffic intersections leaves the driver, passengers, and surrounding motorists vulnerable to rear-end collisions. Power steering and braking performance are compromised while trying to get the stalled vehicle safely off the road.Context for Investigation:This vehicle falls directly under the scope of the NHTSA’s active Engineering Analysis (EA25004) regarding Honda Auto Idle-Stop restart failures. The premature failure of the starter motor at 44,000 miles is directly caused by the defective operational logic of the vehicle's automated stop-start system, matching the exact systemic defects documented in prior model years.

This is the third time that the Auto Idle Engine has caused an issue while driving. If I attempt to turn the system off at a stop light it will automatically force my car into neutral and will not allow me to put my car back into drive. I have to turn the car off completely which it also does NOT allow easily and takes several attempts while I’m sitting in the middle of the road with my hazards on and praying I don’t get rear ended! Once I finally get the car to turn off it then allows me to restart and drive again. This should not be happening and is very unsafe yet when I took it into Honda they couldn’t replicate the issue so they said they couldn’t fix it even though it is a very common and known problem with the Auto Idle Engine!

72K miles on vehicle and twice it has shutdown the transmission and shifted into neutral, both events occurred at highway speeds. I believe the transmission control module is defective and I can no longer trust this vehicle on open roads or merge lanes which leave no room for error.

- #11767013September 25, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
My 2021 Honda Passport experiences a sudden, complete failure of the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen while driving. The dashboard controls go pitch black without warning, resulting in an immediate and dangerous loss of the speedometer, critical vehicle safety warnings, and the federally mandated rearview backup camera. The system stays dark for 3 to 4 minutes before attempting a forced system reboot. This matches the exact failure mode of NHTSA Recall 23V-431 (MOST Bus Network Connectors). However, both the dealership and American Honda Corporate refuse to cover the repair, stating my specific VIN is excluded from the current recall footprint. This is a severe, active driving hazard that removes critical speed and safety information while traveling at highway speeds.

- #11766704September 24, 2026STRUCTURE:INTERIOR PANELS:SUN VISOR
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that due to prolonged sunlight exposure, the interior foam fabric of the driver’s and passenger’s side sun visors were warped and swollen. The swelling caused the interior parts of the sun visors to poke through the exterior fabric coverings, creating a bulge that obstructed the view while driving. Additionally, the interior plastic housing had separated. The sun visors failed to stay in place and flapped around loosely, striking the driver’s head while driving. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the failure was confirmed. The failure mileage was 54,700.

Vehicle: 2026 Honda Passport VIN: [XXX] Mileage at time of most recent incident: ~16,795 miles Dealer(s): Garcia Honda, Albuquerque, NM (selling dealer); Honda of Santa Fe (servicing dealer) Complaint narrative: I am experiencing recurring electrical system failures and brake-related warning malfunctions in my 2026 Honda Passport that have required three separate repair attempts: [XXX] (RO [XXX]): Auto Stop/Start system shut down unexpectedly. Dealer installed a software update. Vehicle died while driving, [XXX] (RO [XXX]): Vehicle died while driving, with hazard lights inoperative. Diagnostic code U1291 was found, but the dealer could not confirm the underlying fault. [XXX] (RO [XXX], ongoing): Vehicle displayed multiple warning lights and a brake system malfunction message. As of 9/22/2026, the vehicle remains at the dealership and has been disassembled for diagnosis. These are not isolated incidents — the 2026 Passport has multiple other owner-reported complaints to NHTSA describing unexpected shutdowns, brake system warnings activating without cause, and safety features engaging unexpectedly, suggesting a pattern consistent with an underlying electrical/braking system defect rather than a vehicle-specific issue. The unpredictable nature of these failures — sudden shutdown while driving, loss of hazard lights, and unexplained brake warnings — poses an ongoing safety risk to myself and other drivers. I am also currently pursuing lemon law arbitration against Honda (NCDS case HON260745) regarding this vehicle.
