We are experiencing a technical issue with the vehicle, which appears to be caused by a software or component error, rather than user error. This situation has led to the car starting unexpectedly and presenting challenges that could compromise safety while driving. Unfortunately, there has yet to be a recall or resolution communicated by the authorities.

I am writing to report a critical safety concern regarding the recall of the steering system on my 2023 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback. Honda has informed me that the repair will not be available until July 6, 2025—an unacceptably long delay for such a dangerous issue. This delay forces me to choose between risking a potential steering failure while driving or being without reliable transportation for months, despite this being a new vehicle. I request that the NHTSA take immediate action to: Require Honda to expedite repairs. Ensure they provide temporary solutions like loaner vehicles or rental reimbursements. This issue poses a serious safety risk to drivers, passengers, and others on the road. I urge you to investigate and hold Honda accountable for addressing it promptly. Thank you for your attention.

When driving at least 45 mph+, the steering wheel "sticks" in a certain position. When trying to turn the opposite way, it takes more effort than normal, and it over corrects itself to a point of serious concern. I am afraid of my daughter's safety, as this is her car, and if she over corrects too much, it jerks in a way that would be in risk of an accident. This problem has gradually increased in seriousness overtime as it is getting worse. I have contacted two different Honda dealerships. One dealership said it was an electric power steering rack and they refuse to fix for free, even though Honda put out a recall for this same issue in 2023-2024 Honda civics. Under the lemon law act, Honda is required to fix repairs if it is a manufacturing defect. This sticky wheel issue is not a owner or driver's fault. This is a manufacturing defect that I was quoted to pay $3,760.72 to fix. The other Honda dealership said that it was a manufacturing defect in the steering gearbox and that the service representative would contact a Honda Representative to discuss the repair. When the service dealership representative called me back, they said the Honda representative would not cover the cost. I am very frustrated as I see many other 2018 Honda owners having the same issue, this is manufacturing defect, and Honda has refused to put out a recall.

The steering wheel will often stick while turning at high speeds on the high way, causing forceful correction of the steering wheel for it to un stick. This also happens at moderate speeds on city roads. The force required to unstick the steering wheel can cause sharp swerving motions with the car. This can be unsafe.

The vehicle was towed to an impound lot to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vehicle was a total loss. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. There’s been a safety recall and I took my car like more than a year ago to repairs and then the check the car but told me the piece it’s not ready yet. I have to wait almost a whole year for it and I receive the notification that the piece was ready. When I call to make the appointment the lady told me that I receive the notification but the piece it’s not on the Honda yet and I have to wait. Wait more ? I’m seriously concerned about my car and even though I receive the notification that it’s ready she says they haven’t receive the piece yet ? This is a serious matter and my car and even my family we are driving the car and this is absolutely not ok. I don’t know how much more do I have to wait.

There is an active recall on the fuel pump for Honda Civics. My car fits within the range of time of manufacture, but my VIN does not appear with any recalls. The vehicle shakes when starting and will stall most of the time. I can turn it off and turn it back on and the car will start okay, but if I accelerate too quickly or drive too fast or for too long the engine will stall. I have been driving on the highway before and the engine stalls and I have to pull over. The car can be turned off and started again okay, but it’s a safety concern when it happens randomly on the highway with plenty of other cars around.

When driving straight on a highway, probably 40+ mph, the steering wheel does not respond to small left or right adjustments to maintain a straight line. It feels like the steering wheel is sticky, and takes extra effort to break through the "stickiness." This results in an overcorrection when the steering system finally does respond. This can cause the vehicle to veer slightly into another lane or off the road. I imagine that other drivers may feel I am driving under the influence as the car weaves. The car is available for inspection, however, I have not had the vehicle into service to confirm the issue, nor has the car been inspected by any other party. No warning signs or other symptoms are present.

When driving on local streets under 40mph steering sticks in position and has to be forcefully recentered. It also makes a clunking sound when turning the steering wheel at low speeds. At highway speeds when making slight adjustments steering wheel sticks, causing me to overcorrect which in turn jerks the car back and forth. This issue starts after driving the car for about 10-15mins. I have tried numerous DIY solutions such as turning off Lane Assist etc. I will be taking the car to Honda soon. This has been going on for about a year now.

Paint and finish bubbling and peeling on hood, roof, some on trunk. In the worst spots paint is worn away down to the metal, creating rusting hazard. On hood, peeled paint can blow onto the windshield, interfering with vision and distracting the driver. Vehicle has been inspected by a USAA insurance adjuster and by Rudolf Body and Paint in El Paso, TX.
