- #11455742March 8, 2022UNKNOWN OR OTHER, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
The heads up display starting with the 2022 model removed the colored lane departure warning from the sides of the road graphic that is in line with the road and moved it to a very small display to the left side of the driver's field of view. Now to see the lane departure warning requires a shift of the driver's view to the left and a head tilt if wearing progression bifocals. On prior year models the colored warning provided an early alert well before the seat vibrates as the warning. Taking my vision off the road caused me to come up on a very slow moving car that required the automatic braking to slow my vehicle

Taillights and Brake light LEDs go out unexpectedly or work intermittently creating a safety hazard that drivers behind the Yukon are unable to see your taillights at night or when your braking causing Potential rear end collisions. For this common problem GM recalled the taillights of 2015-16 models, but the 2017+ models that still have the same exact taillights with the same issue but has not been recalled yet. Costing owners out of warranty $800 per taillight assembly. Please look into this safety issue.

The left rear tail light has gone out. There is no user replaceable bulb and this is a sealed unit. The deal has quoted almost $800 to replace. I feel a sealed unit should not fail prematurely and should last the entirety of the life of the vehicle. Had it been user serviceable, this would be a simple repair/fix.

- #11453520February 22, 2022ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, STEERING, ENGINE
The largest issue was today, 2/22/2022, when I was driving doing 56 miles per hour it felt like it wouldn't accelerate. Then all of a sudden, the wheel kind of jerked right and the car shifted down all on it's own and I was doing 25 mph. The check engine light came on immediately after the violent jerking happened. I was on a 4 lane highway and had to immediately pull over onto the shoulder. It was jerking forward and back as I was trying to pull over on a freeway where the speed limit is 70 mph!!! I had my 80-year-old mother in the car with me. AND YES!! It put us both at great risk! I had to call a tow truck and they towed it to a dealership 9.8 miles away. When I talked to the Assistant Manager, he said that there were 3 other GMC Yukon 2016 that had come in today - ALL WERE 2016 GMC YUKON MODELS WITH 125K MILES. My GMC has 124,700 MILES all with Transmission problems. This can't be an anomaly. So I got online and there are many, many complaints about this transmission. As a matter of fact, it appears in 2019 there was a Class Action Lawsuit about this very thing. I will not know until tomorrow for sure what the issue is - because the dealership could not get to it today. However, something significant happened. As a side note, recently I had an electrical problem where sensors, etc are all saying need to be serviced and none of them are working. I had appt today at 10:30 am to have them check this. On the way there, the violent jerking and sudden downshift and check engine light came on. I was scared to death and so I pulled over and called a tow truck. The dealership did not tell me this is a common issue, nor was I aware. The dealership told me if it is in fact the transmission - cost is $6,000!!! I need someone to contact me to discuss this. LED taillights have both gone out. One was replaced by a "service bulliten" and it didn't cost us. The other recently went out at approx 80k miles. These are supposed to last the life of the vehicle. Replacement cost is $750. After doing research, there is a recall for 2015-2016 GMC Yukon taillights that are the exact same product. I contacted GMC and they refuse to replace the known defect part. This is going to cause someone to get seriously hurt. They know the part is defective or they wouldn't have had a recall on the 2015-2016 models.

The transmission failed while merging and almost caused a collision. After a complete transmission replacement, the fuel injectors failed causing the same issue. GM extended fuel injector warranty due to the number of similar issues, but not in my state.

Transmission Code P0700 and P0796 ( pressure control) I was on the Interstate and my 2015 GMC YUKON SLT Engine locked up and shift down to 2nd gear. Causing other cars to almost hit me from behind and possibly causing an accident. I had to quickly veer off on the side of the road so that they wouldn’t hit the back of me. Immediately my engine light came on. Didn’t have this problem prior to the breakdown. Brought it to GMC dealership they told me my torque converter was bad along with Computer TCM and Valve body. They said I need a new transmission. My SUV have 132k miles. I called around at other transmission shops and they ALL said they are getting 3-4 GMC YUKONS in to fix a week and knew exactly what the problem was with SUV. They couldn’t understand why GMC wasn’t correcting the problem. Also, last year had to replace the Cam Shaft, Lifters and Catalytic Convertor that’s was $6000 now they tell me $5500 for Transmission. That’s $12000+ in repair in lease than 1.5 years. Never have I had this much major problem on a vehicle. This is a major safety issue especially on interstate.

Purchased the vehicle brand new on 12/3/21. On 12/21/21 vehicle started to display 'Service Safety Restraint System' and Airbag light was on. Also, all controls on the overhead console (sunroof, sunroof shade, MAP lights, rear access control, auto folding seat control) were no longer working. The passenger airbag light on the overhead console that notifies if the airbag is on or off was also no longer lighting up. The interior overhead lights in all 3 rows of the vehicle are not working and the fold down mirror lights are not working. I contacted my local dealership and they said the overhead console had failed and was the cause of the issues. They stated they had ordered the part and that I could come pickup my vehicle. They did state the part was backordered and it could be weeks before the part arrived. I asked if the vehicle was safe to drive as the airbag light was on, the passenger airbag light was no longer lit up, and the 'Service Safety Restraint System' error continued to display. They stated they could not guarantee that the airbag system was functioning properly, but I could still come get the vehicle. I asked if they had a loaner vehicle they could provide me with as I was concerned about the airbag system not functioning properly and they stated they did not have any loaner vehicles. I have contacted the dealership several times to see if there are any updates on the part and they have told me the part is still backordered and have no ETA of when the part may be in. So, I have been driving around in a vehicle for almost two months that has non-functioning airbags. This is a significant safety hazard.

- #11450419February 4, 2022SERVICE BRAKES
The contact owns a 2011 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at 60-65 MPH, the check engine warning light, the ABS warning light, the emergency parking brake warning light, the stability tract warning light, the warning indicator “Service Brake System” and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The brake pedal was depressed but felt rigid and failed to respond. The contact depressed the brake pedal with more pressure, but it hesitated to respond, causing 40 feet in stopping distance delay. The contact continued to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the EBCM module, the BPCM module and the valve ABS unit needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 131,814.
