- #11756300August 11, 2026ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2024 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), the contact was informed that the vehicle passed the inspection and no repair was needed. However, the vehicle experienced engine failure approximately seven months later. While driving 50 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The driver pulled over, restarted the vehicle, and resumed normal driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer the following morning, where the Electronic Control Module was replaced under warranty; however, the failure recurred while driving 70 MPH three weeks later. No warning light was illuminated. The driver pulled over, restarted the vehicle, and resumed driving; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 40 MPH and shut off. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine, radiator and seal kit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was concerned that the recall remedy failed to prevent the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a buyback was requested, but the request was denied, and the contact was referred to the dealer for additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 27,800.

Unknown brought my car in on July 24, 2026. They reported they do not know what is wrong with the engine, but stated GM is not letting them take it apart and told them to replace the engine. While the car was parked and during acceleration, my car was making a weird noise that got louder during acceleration. A few days prior to this happening, while driving on the highway, my car's emergency lights came on. I had to pull over to turn it off.

- #11755582August 7, 2026ENGINE, SUSPENSION
We took in our Yukon for the recall letters we’ve received in the mail and to check a suspension light the popped up. Our Yukon was given back to us with the ac not working properly anymore and it started to turn off on us out of nowhere. now we need an engine replacement. What’s more aggravating is that the Yukon was checked out the week of july27 -31 according to service advisor the engine was good and the only thing needing to be replaced was the module for the suspension light that popped up. Now it turns out that it doesn’t even need a module replacement and the suspension issue is something else. Super frustrating It’s our only family vehicle and it so upsetting that we were given the Yukon back in the condition it was in. Thank goodness the Yukon shut off at a drive thru and not a freeway or my husband would’ve got into an accident.

Driving on highway, engine stopped while driving 70+ mph. Had to get to the side of the multilane highway. Was towed to nearest GMC dealership. Dealer said the engine was locked up, and they have many vehicles right now with similar problems. They will have to replace the engine due to complete engine failure.

- #11754196August 1, 2026SERVICE BRAKES
I got into my car to run some errands. As I drove away from my house, I made a left turn downhill. I noticed vehicles ahead, so I began to slow down. At that moment, I was driving between 20 and 25 mph. When I tried to brake, my brakes failed and started flashing a brake failure warning light. I kept pumping the brake pedal, and eventually, the car slowed down and came to a stop. I turned on my hazard lights, and immediately returned home. My nephew and I were both in the car. Our live flashed in front of us. Thankfully, there were no vehicles directly in front of me or pedestrians. This could have turned out to be the worst day of my life if anyone had been injured.

- #11754163August 1, 2026LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
On my 2023 GMC Yukon, XL the infotainment screen freezes and you have no access to any vehicle information, including rearview camera. This issue appeared three months after I purchased a vehicle in 2023 and was taken to the dealership confirmed the issue, but said the resolution was to do a hard reset on the infotainment center. After driving the car for three years and taking the advice of the dealership and resetting the infotainment center every few weeks, the problem escalated and started freezing up at least once a week to eventually doing it every day and the heart reset wouldn’t always work the first time. Dealership eventually confirmed it was a defective radio module. This is a very large vehicle and the rearview camera is an essential necessity to avoid collision.

- #11752916July 26, 2026UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
My vehicle keeps showing a front camera warning and we went to the dealership multiple times and they were unable to diagnose the problem. This seems to be a widespread common problem among many owners and it’s a safety concern affecting parking and forward collision.

- #11752614July 24, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
On July 14, 2026, I experienced a serious fuel system failure with my 2023 GMC Denali. That morning, I filled the vehicle with a little over 20 gallons of fuel at a gas station approximately two miles from my home. Later in the day, I made a short trip to my neighborhood swimming pool, roughly 1.5 miles round trip, with no unusual noises or warnings from the vehicle. Approximately two hours after returning home, I entered the vehicle to run an errand. When I shifted into reverse and began backing out of my carport, I immediately heard a scraping noise on the concrete. I stopped the vehicle and inspected underneath. At that point, I discovered that the entire fuel tank had fallen out of the vehicle and was resting on the ground. I contacted roadside assistance, and the vehicle was towed to the dealership. The dealership informed me that the fuel tank support straps were missing, which allowed the tank to detach and fall. I personally searched along all the routes I had driven earlier that day and did not locate any straps or debris. The tank itself showed no impact damage, suggesting it dropped cleanly rather than being torn loose by road contact. Although the vehicle is relatively new, my bumper to bumper warranty expired in September 2025, and I was charged for the repair. I have included photos taken before and during the tow, as well as the dealership’s invoice. I am extremely concerned about the safety implications of this failure. If the tank had fallen while I was driving at interstate speeds (approximately 70 mph), it could have caused a catastrophic fire hazard, loss of vehicle control, or danger to other motorists. I do not know how long the vehicle had been operating without fuel tank straps, nor why there were no warnings or indications of a structural issue. I also question why the dealership did not treat this as a manufacturing or assembly defect, given that fuel tank straps should not detach under normal use. ...RAN OUT OF CHARACTERS...

- #11752591July 24, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
The car just died while going 55mph on the highway. Complete shutdown but luckily both the steering and brakes worked. After stopping it wouldn’t start again. I had my three children in the car aged [XXX], [XXX], and [XXX]. It was a horrific experience. GMC did some repairs to the engine that took over two months and then the car had a few more warnings pop up just a few weeks later. GMC now says there is a misfiring in one of the positions. I’m terrified of driving this car with my children as I don’t know when it will shut off again and how bad it will be! The vehicle has an unpredictable and random tendency to hesitate when the gas is pressed. This has been happening at some level since the vehicle was new. The dealership service department was never able to get the vehicle to do what I was concerned about, so they never helped resolve the issue. Now that it is out of warranty, the issue is getting worse. It is to the point that I believe it is unsafe for anyone but me to drive it. I have to make sure that when I turn onto a new road, that there is absolutely noone coming because I cannot depend on my vehicle to accelerate quickly enough, even at a normal rate. It may lag and take its time speeding up, or it may accelerate normally with no issues. I stopped going to the dealership for oil changes and checking the issue because they no longer give loaner vehicles and they take a minimum of three hours for an oil change. So I recently took it to my trusted mechanic. He replaced the knock sensors, which helped slightly. He could still detect issues, but was concerned it would require a whole new engine built to bypass the DFM system and repair the cams and lifters. So I nw have to drive a vehicle that needs $20,000 worth of repair, has the potential to be dangerous or leave me broken down on the side of the road. It has 106,000 miles and I still owe $12,000 on it. From my research, I understand that this is a known issue and that there are several lawsuits regarding the issue. That does not help the average person who doesn’t care about a lawsuit, but is justifying st trying to live their average life with a dependable vehicle. Please help!

Engine seized while driving on the highway. This is the same engine that is being recalled and GM has said that the vin is not covered. The vehicle stopped running on a major highway with my [XXX] old son in the car. The dealership is saying this is the exact issue that is part of the larger investigation for GM v8 engines. There were no warning lights at all prior to the engine seizing. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

We're in the waiting period for our 3rd engine. 1st engine failure, while driving on interstate at 70+ MPH, engine stopped running, causing a very unsafe condition for family and surrounding vehicles. Engine failure 2 days later, towed to dealership for inspection, replacement engine was installed ~4 weeks later. 2nd engine failure, while driving on interstate at 75+ MPH, engine seemed underpowered and would rev upwards of 6000+RPMs, not exactly unsafe, but not usual operating conditions either. Returned to dealer, upon inspection, total engine replacement was recommended.
