While driving through rain on a long car trip, the wipers suddenly became completely inoperable. We could not see and were on a highway causing a serious safety issue. We had to drive very carefully off the next exit ramp. Tried turning on and off the car, no luck. Tried toggling the rain sense on the display and finally wipers came back on. About 20 miles down the road the same thing happened. Wipers became inoperable. We had to exit highway 4 times to try to wait and toggle for wipers to come back on. Immediately had it checked my a mechanic at our destination and he could find no cause for the incident. Our best guess is there is some computer glitch that needs to be fixed and I predict there will be a recall. Hopefully not before a disaster.

Vehicle indicated that the suspension system was disabled. Vehicle then lost power and disabled itself driving through the Eisenhower Tunnel I-70 Colorado. This tunnel is over a mile and a half long. We called 911 as we were very worried we were going to have another vehicle crash into us as there are no breakdown lanes. The tunnel had to close to West Bound Interstate traffic and the vehicle had to be dragged up a tow truck because the back wheels were locked. The CDOT tow truck then dropped our vehicle outside the tunnel. We had a private tow company (again dragging the locked tires onto the next truck) take us home and to our personal repair shop. Vehicle was diagnosed as a blown engine. We then had to tow our vehicle, again dragging tires, to a GMC certified shop. We have spent $1502 on towing. This vehicle has approximately 57,000 miles and was 9 days out of the powertrain warranty. The repair shop has the same diagnoses and a dead battery because we could not turn the vehicle off. We have no vehicle to drive as ours sits at the repair shop waiting for parts. GM told me we were out of warranty and would not help. The dealership says GM may do cost sharing but will still cost us $2000.

Vehicle was operating on the interstate with cruise control activated. Time was approximately 9:15pm. Weather was fair with temperatures in the lower 60's. Speed was approximately 73mph. Without any audible or warning light notifications the engine stalled and all exterior lighting, power assisted braking and steering was lost. The emergency flashers were immediately activated to warn vehicles in nearby proximity of our emergency status. I tried to restart the engine(the transmission was showing to be in N)with no success. During the attempt to restart, the exterior lighting was restored. With the path of travel now visible, I was able to slow the vehicle to a safe speed and exit from the roadway onto the shoulder. Upon stopping, the vehicle was placed into P and OnStar was notified of the event. We remained in the vehicle until one of our friends was able to take us home. Onstar contacted AAA to remove the vehicle to the nearest GM dealership.

The vehicle is experiencing symptoms consistent with the brake vacuum pump failure described in GM Special Coverage Adjustment N182202780, which applies to full-size GM SUVs in this model range. The symptoms include a hard brake pedal upon startup, reduced brake assist, increased stopping distance, and audible vacuum or mechanical cycling noise when the vehicle powers on. This malfunction affects the vehicle’s braking performance and requires significantly increased pedal force, especially during initial operation or low-speed braking. This results in delayed braking response and reduced stopping capability, creating a safety hazard to occupants and others on the roadway. Although the symptoms match the defect described in the bulletin and the vehicle is within the published 10-year/150,000-mile coverage parameters, multiple authorized dealerships and GM corporate have refused to perform a diagnostic or repair because the VIN does not appear in their internal eligibility system. GM Customer Care case number 82474826 documents these interactions. No diagnostic evaluation has occurred because the manufacturer and dealers declined to perform one unless the VIN is pre-flagged, regardless of symptoms. No warning lights or dashboard alerts accompanied the failure. The condition began gradually and has become more noticeable over time. I am concerned that other vehicles experiencing the same defect may also be excluded from inspection or repair due to VIN list limitations, despite meeting the published program criteria.

Complete Engine Failure at 83,986 miles and no prior signs that it was defective. Had GM initially look at it and they refused to cover the repair and indicated that it was due to faulty lifters. Took it to an independent shop, they tore it all down and indicated the lifters had trays that were not tight, which allowed the lifters to eat away at the camshaft. Due to that, metal shavings got into the main engine bearings and that is what ultimately caused the engine failure. While questioning how a new engine would be any more reliable than the one that failed, I was told that all engine suppliers were aware of the sloppy lifter play and the needed cam changes and new parts were all maid to a tighter spec so that this would not happen in the future. GM is fully aware of this issue and fortunately for me it did not result in my engine failing on the highway like others have. I was left with a $14,969.74 repair bill on something that should have never happened. I talked with current GM master technicians, and they indicated to me to stay away from anything pre 2025 because all engines were made to the same spec and they don't know why a change was not made sooner.

Classic Buick GMC (Classic Elite Buick GMC – Katy) Filed by: [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Phone: [XXX] Email: [XXX] Date: November 23, 2025 Texas Attorney General – Consumer Protection Division RE: SUMMARY COMPLAINT – Vehicle Misrepresentation, Unauthorized Charges, Financing Fraud & Warranty Violations Dear Attorney General, I am filing this complaint against Classic Buick GMC (Classic Elite Buick GMC) located at [XXX] , for multiple violations of Texas consumer-protection laws during the sale and follow-up service of a vehicle I purchased in March 2024. Summary of Violations 1. Misrepresentation of Vehicle Model Year I was sold a 2023 GMC Yukon Denali that the dealership falsely represented as a brand-new 2024 model, including on the key-tag. This violates Texas Occupations Code §2301.351(a) and DTPA §17.46(b)(5), (7), (24). 2. Unauthorized Add-Ons & Hidden Charges The dealership added $8,000 in accessories and $26,000 in warranty products without my consent. This violates DTPA §17.46(b)(12). 3. Financing Fraud I was promised 1% financing, but the dealership charged a significantly higher rate at closing without disclosure. This violates the Truth in Lending Act (TILA). 4. Warranty Refusal & Pre-Existing Damage Although the vehicle had defects and mechanical issues at delivery, the dealership refused to repair them under warranty unless I paid. This violates the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. 5. Failure to Provide Required Documentation The dealership refused to provide complete purchase documents, violating Texas Administrative Code §215.142. 6. Pattern of Evasion I personally visited the dealership three times, yet management refused to correct any misconduct. 7. Unsafe Vehicle Retained at Dealership The Yukon remains at the dealership due to mechanical/electrical defects. I refused to pick it up because the vehicle is unsafe and not as represented. The contact owns a 2019 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that while driving approximately 68 MPH, the vehicle vibrated abnormally, with a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment, with the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that lifter #7 had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that all the lifters were replaced. The contact stated that approximately 5 days later, on October 2, 2025, while reversing, there was a burning odor with black smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was towed to the mechanic and was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced; however, the warranty only provided the replacement of 2 head gaskets. After 7 days of having the vehicle, while driving approximately 68 MPH, the vehicle started shaking with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was also idling roughly. The vehicle was towed to the mechanic and was diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The fuel pump was replaced; however, the vehicle was idling roughly, and there was an intermittent misfire in cylinders #1 and #6. The dealer was unable to identify which cylinders needed to be replaced. The contact discovered information of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 127,000.

Routine oil change by professional local mechanic. Upon completion we were told that the vehicle would not turnover. The mechanic diagnosed and found that were 2 recalls for our vehicle - one for the fuel pump module and one for the engine. We had our vehicle towed to the local GM dealership. They then replaced the fuel control module. GM tried to manually crank over but engine seized once again. We spoke to the GM Advisor prior to this and were told that our vehicle was not part of the engine recall because our VIN was not listed as part of it even though our vehicle had the same exact issues as described in the engine recall and was for the exact year/make/model of the engine. The dealer quoted us $14,896 to replace the engine. They stated they would submit a Goodwill claim to GMC to help discount the cost to repair/replace the engine. The dealer called back later that day and said GMC would be willing to cover 30% of the cost so our expense would be around $10,000. All this for a vehicle we've only driven for less than a year and a half. The vehicle went in for a routine oil change and has never had any issues prior to this. This happened suddenly without any sort of warning. To make matters worse, our powertrain warranty expired a day or two before this occurred. We are still trying to fight with GMC to cover this engine failure. The car has less than 75,000 miles and is only used for basic personal needs like driving to school and the store so it is shocking that the engine would suddenly fail like this and to make matters, the manufacturer refuses to take responsibility for it and to cover it under the recall even though there has been known widespread issues with this engine.

DuraMAX 3.0L LZ0 engine with defective crankshaft thrust bearing caused catastrophic engine failure requiring engine replacement. The event occurred at about 1,000 miles. There is a GM TSB that addresses this issue. This failure displayed all of the symptoms as described in the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 25-NA-307. The engine has been replaced by GM. There was only one cryptic dashboard message that "acceleration may be reduced", that briefly appeared and then disappeared, three days before the incident. With no check engine light, the mysterious message was chalked up to possibly a DEF low warning. DEF was added. The vehicle displayed no problems during those three days -handling normally. Then while at interstate speeds approximately 90 miles later, the warning that "acceleration is limited" flashed and the vehicle went into limp mode, shortly thereafter the check engine light illuminated. OnStar read the code - P06DD. The email from them stated the recommended action: "Service within 7 days." The following morning the vehicle was presented to a GM dealership service department. Loud "knocking" noises were originating from the rear of the engine compartment at that point in time. The service department reported the engine needed replacement and did so.

While driving vehicle the vehicle appears to shut off as if someone is turning off the ignition. The steering control becomes stiff, power is lost and electronics flash and turn off and on. This has happened on multiple occasions and is intermittent during acceleration. The accessible grounds have been checked, battery checked and replaced, and alternator checked and verified to be charging appropriately. Several codes are present and have been cleared to return indicating low voltage issues with multiple systems.

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the message "You Have no Brakes - Do Not Drive Over 40 MPH" was displayed. The contact allowed the vehicle to roll to a stop. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the failure persisted. The contact parked the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had not caused an accident because the contact was driving early in the morning and there was less traffic on the road. The contact stated that her husband started the vehicle later in the day, and the warning lights were off. The vehicle was driven to the dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and informed the contact that several DTCs were retrieved, including a DTC for brake failure; however, the flow chart from the manufacturer instructed to first replace the battery and then reset the codes. The dealer replaced the battery, reset the codes and test-drove the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired and returned to the contact. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and supported the dealer's assessment. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

I am writing as the owner of a new 2025 GMC Yukon XL AT4 VIN: [XXX] , purchase date: 01AUG2025, from Elizabeth City GMC, Elizabeth City, NC. This vehicle, equipped with the 3.0L Duramax diesel engine and Super Cruise hands-free driving assistance, was purchased for safe family travel, including space for my wife, our 21-year-old daughter, and our family dog(s). At approximately 4,300 miles—well within the 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty—this truck suffered a catastrophic right-rear brake failure directly attributable to a dealer-installed GMC-approved Brembo Performance Brake Upgrade Package, resulting in a near-fatal highway incident and profound emotional hardship for my family. The vehicle experienced a lifter and valve train failure within the warranty period, as addressed in GM TSM MC-10209953. This failure can cause sudden engine noise, loss of power, and potential engine seizure while driving, creating a serious safety hazard for the driver, passengers, and others on the road. The component failure is reproducible and has been confirmed by a repair shop; it is available for inspection upon request. An engine rebuild was completed just after the warranty expired, and the manufacturer has denied warranty coverage and refused to address the issue. Prior to failure, no warning lights or messages indicated a problem, meaning drivers have little to no warning before a potentially catastrophic malfunction. Because this is a documented issue affecting multiple vehicles and the manufacturer is refusing corrective action, this defect presents a clear risk to public safety. I urge NHTSA to investigate this matter, determine whether a safety recall is warranted, and require the manufacturer to address this known defect to prevent accidents and injuries.

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low engine oil warning light illuminated. The contact checked the oil dipstick and noticed that the oil level was extremely low. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced by the dealer a month prior, and the oil change was performed. The contact stated that the oil level required to be topped off several times while driving the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where an oil consumption test was performed, and the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall with a similar failure description; however, the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,500.

While driving northbound on I2 at approximately 70mph I experienced a sudden loss of engine power. Vehicle would not accelerate and engine ultimately powered off. I was able to move across three lanes of traffic and pull over on the side of the highway. I attempted to restart the vehicle but was unsuccessful and after about 10 minutes the engine managed to start. The ‘check engine’ light was on after the incident and upon arriving back home I ran a code scan that resulted in code P129F indicates a problem with the fuel pump control module. There is recall #N252516900 dated 9/11/2025 which covers this issue for 2021 models only. This occurred on a 2023 model.

The vehicle suddenly stopped working while driving with my family of 5 in the vehicle. There was no warning, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to this. We had no idea there was anything wrong until it just stopped working. Then the engine light came on. Thankfully we were close to an exit and were able to pull off the road. We had it towed to a GMC dealer they found cylinder 7 intake lifter collapsed causing P0300 to set in ECM. Upon disassembly of bank one found lifter guide failed due to lifter collapse leading to camshaft lobe damage. The engine required replacement of camshaft and all lifters. The total cost of repairs was $10,115.72. When I reported this to GMC they said that our vehicle was not part of the current recall for engine failure because it was a 2020.
