ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM), AIR BAGS
The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that in November of 2023 while driving at 80 MPH with cruise control engaged and approaching another vehicle, the contact changed lanes and the vehicle automatically slowed down. The contact stated that while returning to the set speed, the warning lights except for the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the battery was not maintaining enough voltage for the ECU and that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was not replaced because the dealer did not have the battery in stock. The contact was informed that he could go to any Genesis dealer, and the battery would be replaced if it was in stock. The contact drove the vehicle to Houston, TX in December of 2023 and the failure reoccurred with the check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The dealer, Genesis of Spring (20440 Interstate 45 N, Spring, TX 77373) informed the contact that the battery did not need to be replaced but the ECU needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the ECU was replaced. The contact stated that on [XXX], while his wife was driving and had stopped the vehicle in the driveway, without warning all the side air bags and seat air bags deployed. The seat air bags located in the front driver side and passenger seats as well as the seat air bags in the rear driver seat and passenger seat. The frontal driver’s side and passenger’s side air bags had not deploy. The contact stated that the air bags warning light was not illuminated before or after the failure. The Insurance provider was contacted and had the vehicle towed to a USAA repair facility. The vehicle was inspected by a Genesis engineer at the repair facility. The manufacturer sent an email stating that no assistance would be offered as the air bags had not deployed due to a manufacturing defect. A case was opened with the manufacturer. UNINTENDED ACCELERATION!! 2022 GENESIS GV80 2.5T Prestige model. 60 miles after I had the fuel pump replaced due to a recall on the fuel pump, car was totaled. It was complete luck that I or others WERE NOT KILLED. The vehicle was sitting still with engine running and all of a sudden just accelerated up to about 40+ mph. I had to steer into parked car to stop my vehicle. The gear shift would not go into neutral or reverse. entire experience took 6-8 seconds. Air bag saved me. The car had just come from the Genesis service center 60 miles prior to incident. Was in excellent condition with only 6190 on it. VERY SCARY..If I had been on the highway or going through an intersection people would have been killed, as car kept gaining speed. My insurance company has sent out an independent investigator to read data from the car-have not heard back yet. Police report was filed. NO warning light or any thing unusual prior to incident

The car is not accelerating or needs hard acceleration to move. It is also losing power intermittently. The car can not accelerate to pass a vehicle. The transmission is behaving erraticly. Causing severe back pain accelerating the car in normal city driving. The RPMs exceed 4000 reaching a speed of 45 miles an hour making the car engine very noisy.

After 3 weeks of sitting idle, the car door had trouble to open. We changed the key batteries but didn’t fix the issue. The next day, car door opened without issue and the car was fine to drive. The 3rd day, the car went dead with no response to the key. The 4th day it came back to live again. However, the car went completely stalled during driving. The engine stopped and no lights or electricity can be turned on. After 15 seconds, the car restarted by itself. I sent the car to dealership but they cannot find any issue.

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer on two occasions, where the ignition coils and unknown parts were replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V282000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The dealer determined that cylinders #1 and #3 were misfiring. The dealer replaced the #2 fuel injector. The contact stated that upon picking up the vehicle from the dealer, the check engine warning light was no longer illuminated; however, there was a strong gasoline odor inside the vehicle, and the odor persisted while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was test-driven, and the contact was informed that the odor was no longer present. The contact stated that upon picking up the vehicle, the failure persisted. The dealer was contacted but no assistance was provided. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing hesitation while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

There are cracks on the driver side headlamp due to design flaw. My light went completely off causing the front headlamp to turn off and disable certain things that are crucial forndriving. the dealer will not replace the headlamp saying it is external factors. The contact restarted the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V282000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Safety Issues: • Battery runs out of charge within one day without any rational reason (i.e., no lights, no alarm, no equipment in use) which put me at risk since the car would stop at any time without any warning. • Then, the Genesis Connected Services will sent alert messages every three (3) minutes for minor events (e.g., washer fluid low, window open, door unlocked…). Those same two problems were reproduced at HYUNDAI RICK CASE DAVIE FL – Official Agent even after two GENESIS FIELD SERVICE ENGINEERS changed the following parts (between May 203 and August 2023): i.JUNCTION BOX ASSY (Ref. 91950-T6032): The junction box assemble is the main fuse box on the driver’s side under the dash. ii.JUNCTION BLOCK-SUB (Ref. 91957-T6500): The junction box sub assembly is the fuse box location in the rear of the vehicle on the driver’s side. iii.AUDIO UNIT (Ref. 96560-T6600): The radio and navigation unit. iv.EXTERNAL AMP ASSY (Ref. 96370-T6700): The power amplifier for the audio unit. Timeline: On [XXX] [XXX] and [XXX] , my SUV (2021 GV80 3.5T Prestige, V6, AWD) was dropped at GENESIS official agent facility (RICK CASE DAVIE, FL) to be inspected and repaired based on the non-conformities described above. On [XXX], BBB AUTOLINE ARBITRATION rules for a REPLACEMENT that manufacturer (GMA) refused to execute. On [XXX], after arbitration, FLORIDA ATTORNEY GENERAL BOARD ordered to manufacturer (GMA) to provide a REPLACEMENT vehicle. The 40-day notice ended on [XXX]: The manufacturer still did comply with the order, and did not provide any replacement. FYI: Manufacturer did not appeal any of the arbitration decisions (BBB & FL STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL). My Lemon Car vehicle (subject of this claim) is still immobilized at the official agent (RICK CASE DAVIE, FL) since [XXX], totaling 310 days, without getting any loaner of replacement as clearly requested since [XXX] when I filled my initial claim with the MANUFACTURER (GMA). On two occasions in the last month the car has suffered a loss of power with the accelerator unresponsive to input. After 5-10 seconds of this still actively occurring the car began to shake violently while I was trying to find a safe place to stop the car out of the traffic lanes. Within a minute or so things would go back to normal. The first time I was in a 35mph zone so the car was relatively controllable but unable to keep at speed. The second time was on the interstate at 70mph in heavy traffic. The car reacted much more dangerously at this speed. The loss of power was more severe and the violent bucking and shaking of the car was very severe. I thought parts would start falling off the car at any moment, it was that violent. With my emergency flashers on I was able to exit the interstate without accident or injury but there was a bit of luck involved. It could have just as easily gone very badly in the heavy traffic. There is an open recall on the Genesis GV80 for the fuel pump needing replaced for this exact type of occurrence. [XXX] ). While my VIN is not part of the formal recall I feel 100% certain that this is the same exact issue. Numerous others with GV80's have had and are still having the exact issue. The car was dropped at the dealer (Genesis Bedford OH) last week. They kept the car for a week but were unable to duplicate due to the randomness of the issue. They returned the car without fixing the issue. They never mentioned anything about the GV80 fuel pump issue. I have an open case ([XXX]) with Genesis but they are refusing to replace the fuel pump or rectify the issue in any way. As is noted in the recall of the fuel pump this issue does not cause any check engine lights to activate nor is Genesis storing any type of code from the issue. The recall clearly states that a car with this fuel pump issue should not be driven. Genesis is currently refusing to assist me in getting the car fixed. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
While driving at low speeds (less than 50mph) the Forward Collision Warning randomly activates. Sometimes its just a warning and sometimes its a warning and forced braking. I was able to capture a video of this. Please see link below. The first occurrence was in November 2023 after I the I took it to the dealership to address Recall Number: [XXX] 2022MY GV70, 2021-22MY GV80, 2021-22MY G80 LOW-PRESSURE FUEL. The contact owns a 2021 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the service brakes independently engaged. The contact stated that the brakes independently engaged a total of four times while the contact was driving on a major highway. The contact’s son was a passenger in the vehicle. The contact stated that he was almost rear-ended several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer four to five times previously regarding the proximity sensors. The contact stated that the proximity sensors had been illuminated several times in the past. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Left LED Headlamps & intergral camera sensor assembly has failed due to moisture penetration behind the lenses. In addition to no left headlamps or left front turn signal, we have lost the emergency braking, forward collision warning, the lane departure warning and the lane keeping assistance features. Service advisor has advised on 01/08/24 that this is a common problem & parts are not readily available.

Defective software issue that has not been corrected since owner took possession of vehicle. Customer/Client is told to deal with the Engineering dept. at Genesis Corporate and it is out of the hands of the dealer. The software effects a lot of moving parts and safety features within vehicle, I feel the vehicle cannot be trusted. No one follows up from dealer to National Customer Service for the brand. They need accountability immediately.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The Adaptive Cruise Control will slow the car down or try to bring it to a stop from speed on a highway for no reason, with no other vehicle in close proximity. Sometimes it occurs on a curve when the car seems to react to a guard rail or snow bank. Very often it is on a long straight stretch of road with no one in sight. Car just aggressively decelerates. The only action is to press the accelerator or shut the cruise control off in order to overcome the problem. Clearly this puts vehicle occupants at risk because the car creates a risky driving situation on highways. Have brought it to a dealer where the service manager acknowledged that this is an issue with this vehicle that others have complained about, but Genesis has not addressed. Message boards and Genesis on-line forums are filled with similar complaints. There were no warning lamps or other indicators for the problem.

THE 2021 GENESIS GV80 REAR BUMPER COVER VIBRATES WHILE DRIVING AS IF IT WANTS TO BLOW OFF. THIS PART OF THE BUMPER INCLUDES THE TAG AREA AND THE LOWER BUMPER COVER. WHILE DRIVING, THE TAG ALSO VIBRATES. IT SEEMS TO APPEAR THAT THERE IS NOTHING SUPPORTING THIS BUMPER. THIS VEHICLE COSTS TOO MUCH FOR IT TO HAVE THIS TYPE OF DEFECT. SAFETY IS PUT AT RISK BECAUSE THE BUMPER COVER COULD POSSIBLY BLOW OFF WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEED. I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER YET BUT I WILL HAVE IT INSPECTED BY THE DEALER. THIS FIRST APPEARED TO BE NOTICED ON FRIDAY, NOV. 17, 2023 WHEN DRIVING HOME FROM OUT OF TOWN. MY HUSBAND TRAILED ME AND NOTICED THE VIBRATION OF THE BUMPER COVER. HE TOLD ME TO PULL OVER AND EXPLAINED TO ME WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO THE BUMPER COVER WHILE I WAS DRIVING. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE REAR BUMPER COVER AND TAG AREA WAS VIBRATING WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. THERE WERE NO WARNING LAMPS OR MESSAGES WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAR IS EXPENSIVE AND SHOULD BE BETTER MADE THAN IT IS. I WILL CONTACT GENESIS CORPORATE AND SHARE THIS SAME INFO WITH THEM.
