  Some 2021-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit harsh or delayed engagement/shift concerns. Most concerns may be addressed with the PCM/TCM Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In Routine. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01, DTC Chart and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. This routine cycles the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination that may be sticking the valves and must be performed along with an adaptive learning drive cycle before attempting internal service. Although this routine was originally developed for low mileage vehicles, it has proven effective for resolving many shift and engagement symptoms across the life of the vehicle. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards Manual.

  Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 automatic transmission may exhibit a delayed engagement into drive and/or reverse on initial start-up. The condition may occur at times after sitting over night or for a couple of days. This may be due to the transmission fluid draining back from the torque converter. This is a normal characteristic of the 10R140 transmission and has no effect on durability, do not attempt to repair. Advise the customer to allow more time after first engine start-up and before shifting into gear allowing time for the torque converter to refill.

Typical examples are 1-3 or 3-5 upshift or a 6-4 coasting downshift. This is a normal characteristic and no repairs should be attempted for this condition.   Some 2017-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a TCU may exhibit inoperative remote features via Ford Pass/Lincoln Way mobile app, incomplete user authorization and/or no modem electronic serial number (ESN) displayed. To correct this condition prior to programming, remove the TCU fuse for 5 minutes then reinstall. Delete all previous session files for the vehicle. Verify that the electronic serial number (ESN) is now displayed. Start a new IDS/FDRS session. Program the TCU to the latest IDS/FDRS version level. Make sure you are connected to the internet before retesting. If the concern is still present, follow normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual(WSM), Section 415-00. Refer to PTS OASIS home page for TCU version identification. For claiming, use causal part 14G229 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

It is possible the vehicle may also have an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0729, P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0735, P0736, P076F, P07D9, P07F7, P2700, P2701, P2702, P2703, P2704 and/or P2705 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM).   Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles may experience an intermittent no crank condition. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P06E9 may also be set in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to corrosion being present on the run start relay in the battery junction box (BJB). Inspect the run start relay for signs of corrosion, including along the terminal edges, prior to performing Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics. If corrosion is found, replace the run start relay with new service part, MU5Z-14N089-A. If no corrosion is found on the run start relay, refer to WSM, Section 303-06 for normal diagnostics.

To correct the condition, clear the DTCs, cycle the ignition to OFF, cycle the ignition to ON, wait ten seconds, cycle the ignition to OFF, wait ten seconds, then start the engine. If the condition remains, refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for diagnostics.

  Some 2018-2020 Expedition/Navigator, 2015-2020 F150 and 2017-2020 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with power running boards (PRB) may exhibit a condition where the PRBs are disabled, changing the feature menu setting from Auto to Off mode in the instrumental panel cluster (IPC), DTC U3003:16 stored in the running board control module (RBM) and with or without an illuminated charging system indicator lamp. This may be due to a low battery voltage event or a fully discharged battery. To correct this condition, inspect the charging system and correct the low battery voltage event. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-08 > Diagnosis and Testing. Configure the PRB system mode from Off to Auto mode in the Advance Settings of the IPC. Refer to the Owner's Manual > Power Running Boards.

The vehicle may also exhibit harsh engagements and poor shift quality. This may be due to the sleeve in the CDF clutch cylinder shifting axially causing hydraulic circuit leaks. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the CDF clutch cylinder.

  Some 2020-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with various fuel system related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). While performing pinpoint test (PPT) M in the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual, the fuel pressure control valve (F_PCV) and/or fuel volume control valve (F_VCV) parameter identifications (PIDs) may not have an option to manually command them with the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. This may be due to the PCM software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM.
