SummarySome 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a condition where the engine will not turn off and/or have various electrical symptoms including a dead battery, horn stays on and no crank/no start. The vehicle may also have an illuminated anti-lock braking system (ABS) Indicator with DTCs C0020 and U3003 in the ABS module. This may be a result of water/moisture intrusion into the battery junction box (BJB). The BJB is located under the hood of the vehicle. This water/moisture intrusion may be related to the BJB cover not installed completely or broken cover tabs/locking fingers allowing water/moisture into the BJB. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to inspect for water/moisture intrusion into the BJB and replace the BJB if water/moisture intrusion is found.

SummarySome 2020-2022 F-Super Duty/Explorer/Aviator and 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Front Camera Fault, Lane Keeping Fault, and/or Collison Warning Not Available message with various diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored in the image processing module A (IPMA). If programming fails or Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) states a file failed to flash after replacing the IPMA or reprogramming IPMA software, test the battery using any approved Rotunda tool including the GR-190, GRX-3590, and DCA-8000. Fully recharge or replace the battery according to results of the tool. Set the battery charger to maintain battery voltage between 12.6 and 13.6 volts during the entire programming procedure. The IPMA programming procedure may take several hours to complete due to the size of the software files required.

SummarySome 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.2L or 7.3L gas engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0339 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or the vehicle may exhibit a runs rough concern with no DTCs. This may be due to a concern with contamination on the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor. If pinpoint test JD in the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual leads to CKP sensor replacement, inspect the sensor for contamination and document the results in the warranty claim. Use causal part 6C315 and utilize labor operation 12650D57D in the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2020-2022 F-Super Duty pickup vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine, 175 inch wheelbase, and built on or before 23-Sep-2021 may exhibit a thump/whine/knock noise from the midship fuel tank at idle or during key on, engine off (KOEO) after performing TSB 21-2057. The noise may be more pronounced at fuel levels at or below 1/4 tank. This may be due to the fuel pump. To correct the condition, replace the fuel pump and sender assembly with service part HC3Z-9H307-AP. For claiming, use causal part 9H307 and applicable labor operations in Section 08 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2016-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may exhibit a condition where the navigation voice prompts are inoperative after a SYNC map update. This may be due to an incomplete installation of the SYNC map software. If possible, using the original USB that installed the update, reperform the update and verify the navigation voice prompts have returned. Multiple reboots are expected when this update is being performed. Verify the Installation Is Complete message displays in the touch screen. If the original USB is not available, go to website https://syncnavigation.com/ford/home or https://syncnavigation.com/lincoln/home to download the files once more for the affected vehicle. SummarySome 2022 F-Super Duty vehicles built on or after 20-Dec-2021 and equipped with remote tailgate release may exhibit a perceived inoperative tailgate latch release function. This may be due to a design change to the tailgate release strategy. When using the power tailgate release switch in the instrument panel, release switch on the tailgate, or the remote keyless entry (RKE) fob, the switch must be pressed twice within 3 seconds with the transmission in Park for the tailgate to release. If the remote tailgate release is still inoperative, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-14 for normal diagnostics.

SummarySome 2021-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit an illuminated anti-lock brake system (ABS) warning lamp due to various diagnostic trouble codes or faults. If the ABS module does not respond to the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool during normal diagnostics, make sure all related connectors are fully seated. If no connector concerns are found, remove the FDRS scan tool from the vehicle and disconnect the vehicle battery cables for 10 minutes. Reconnect the battery cables and attempt to re-establish communication with the ABS module using the FDRS scan tool.

SummarySome 2018-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit inoperative remote features via the Ford Pass/Lincoln Way mobile app, incomplete user authorization, no modem electronic serial number (ESN) displayed or DTCs U2100 and/or B156D in the telematics control unit (TCU). These symptoms may persist even after performing a TCU software update and/or replacement. To correct this condition, start a new session with the latest version of the appropriate diagnostic scan tool and perform a PMI on the TCU. If issues persist, open a hotline assistance request and include the IDS version (if applicable) used to perform the PMI and the Authorization Status PID value in the TCU datalogger. For claiming use causal part 14G229 and applicable labor times in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may experience a lack of power due to snow packing of the engine air cleaner when operating in extremely snowy conditions. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P1548 may be present in the powertrain control module (PCM). A heavy snow environment pre-filter service kit (service part LC3Z-9K635-AA) is now available for use but is not a warrantable item. It is recommended that the service kit be removed at temperatures greater than 50ðF (10ðC) and reinstall in subsequent winter seasons in order to maintain optimal vehicle performance.

SummarySome 2021-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with 4x4 may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator and a 4x4 warning lamp with DTC P1812 stored in the transfer case control module (TCCM). DTC P1812 can set if the 4X4 selector switch is inadvertently left between detents of the switch during operation. If DTC P1812 is present, cycle the 4X4 selector switch several times and retest. If the DTC persists, inspect the selector switch connector for bent or pushed out pins. If no concerns are identified, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 308-07A pinpoint test D.

SummarySome 2017-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2022 F-650/F-750 with 6.7L diesel engines, 2015-2019 Transit with 3.2L diesel engines and 2018-2021 F-150 with 3.0L diesel engines may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C in the powertrain control module (PCM). Review of repair data supports that P206C is often the result of incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Per Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Pinpoint Test (PPT) RJ, a DEF concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition.
