Transmission down shifted from 10th gear to 1st gear while traveling at 80mph on XXX. Truck then continued to shift randomly throughout gears and occasionally not shift at all. Clutchs are all burned up and the fluid is now burnt as well. Had to be hauled 2 hours home from an army installation. On July 6th, I was in my 2016 Ford F-150 at a stoplight after driving 200 miles in mountainous roads when my brake pedal got soft and went to the floor. I immediately shifted into neutral and waited for the light to turn so I could ease into a parking lot. Once parked, I noticed fluid on the ground and on the inside of my front passenger tire. I called for a tow and had it sent to a local repair shop. The repair shop told me that the right front brake line failed causing loss of brake fluid. The cost of the repair was $495.00. When I called the local Ford dealership they told me that they could schedule me for July 31, 2026. I had the local repair shop do the repair. I did not have a brake fluid warning light come on while I was in the truck. My truck has 95,262 miles on it at the time of this incident.

I purchased my 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor in October 2017. On December 27, 2019, at 27,775 miles, the cam phasers were replaced under warranty using Ford part numbers beginning with HL3Z. In June 2026, at 74,665 miles — fewer than 47,000 miles after that repair — I began experiencing the same cam phaser symptoms (rattle/knock at cold start and idle) that led to the original repair. At no point was I notified by Ford or my dealer that the HL3Z parts used in my 2019 repair were known to have the same defect as the original phasers, despite Ford having since transitioned to an updated part (ML3Z) referenced in its own Customer Satisfaction Program documentation (CSP 21N03 and Supplements #1–4). I contacted Ford Customer Service in July 2026 requesting assistance with the recurrence and was told no help would be provided. I am concerned this failure can progress to loss of engine power or a more serious failure while driving, based on the known failure pattern of this component. The repair is labor- and parts-intensive, creating a significant cost burden for a defect Ford appears to have known was unresolved by the original repair parts. Reference documentation: SSM 48272, TSB 20-2191, TSB 20-2315, CSP 21B10, CSP 21N03 (and Supplements #1–4), TSB 23-2143.

Transmission slips, cdf drum must likely the culprit, clunks to the point that the adaptive learning isn’t able to compensate for the cdf failure. Recently while driving at freeway speed there was a failure in the cdf drum That caused the transmission to go into limp mode almost causing an accident. Luckily I didn’t and after shutting down the truck and restarted it I was able to make it home very slow. It’s been parked ever since.

driving approximately 20 miles an hour, gently applying the brake as I was approaching a stoplight when the brake suddenly engaged forcefully causing the car to jerk to a stop unexpectedly. There was a warning across the dash that said " forward collision is not available" and that disappeared. A local dealership said this was an ABS issue and reprogrammed it.

Truck has just started misfiring out of the blue, have had Ford dealerships look at it, have changed all 6 spark plugs and one ignition coil. The recall NHTSA 2025-366 may be the reason, it states there still is no remedy for this, recall was issued 1 year ago, July 2025. I need this remedy.

Component or system that failed: The backup camera system failed and is completely inoperable. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The failure of the backup camera creates a safety hazard when reversing the vehicle. Without the camera providing visibility behind the truck, there is an increased risk of striking a pedestrian, another vehicle, or an object that may not be visible using mirrors alone. Confirmation of the problem: Yes. An authorized Ford dealership diagnosed the failure and charged me for the inspection. The dealer informed me that my vehicle is not covered under Ford's existing backup camera recall. Inspection by others: The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or an insurance representative. The dealership did not provide information or assistance regarding how to have the issue reviewed by Ford or pursue any further action. Warning lamps or prior symptoms: There were no warning lights, messages, or other indications that the backup camera was beginning to fail. The failure occurred without warning. The problem first occurred in 2025.

I recently purchased/financed a 2019 f-150 xlt and told the dealer I was using the vehicle to tow a boat from XXX to XXX. The vehicle was inspected and released XXX and I left the morning of the third. Made it 2/3 the way and started experiencing dangerous down shifts and up shifts on the highway and off which almost caused me to get into a couple accidents. I managed to make it to my destination safely. Upon arrival the battery died and I thought that could be the problem. Purchased a new battery and this did temporarily help the issue and the vehicle ran more efficiently. Then on the return journey before I left I did a reset protocol for the transmission computer. That helped but eventually failed. I had more dangerous shifting towards the end of the trip just before getting home which also almost caused a accident. On top of all this my dog was thrown into the back of my seat from the issue. Im very upset and am considering legal action against the dealer and possibly Ford. I feel lucky to be alive. Ruined my vacation and has had me all worked up that I bought a lemon I still owe $24,000 in financing on. Thought my dog was injured too. Took him to the vet he was ok. Talked to a bunch of resources and spoke to a former Ford mechanic who admitted to me after becoming quite about my dog smashing into my seat. He admitted the same thing happened to him and his dog died. So there’s definitely a major issue with these transmissions which I have researched and found that ford was recycling foreign transmissions and putting their components in them and their failing left and right. Someone needs to further investigate this. I have been seeing some recent news reports of it. As well as every Ford dealer in the area is booked up in the transmission department for months. More than likely repairing these solenoid bodies and computer modules. Note: the dog was brought to the veterinarian to be checked out. On Thursday, XXX, at approximately 5:10 AM, I was driving my Ford F-150 XLT (VIN: [XXX]) eastbound on [XXX]. While exiting the elevated bridge at the intersection of [XXX] and [XXX] at 55 mph (6th gear), the vehicle experienced a sudden, uncommanded transmission downshift directly from 6th to 1st gear. This caused immediate extreme deceleration, engine over-speed, and locked the rear tires, causing tire slippage and an absolute loss of traction control on a high-speed highway. This severe event put my life and my wife's life in imminent danger of catastrophic injury. After safely pulling over, the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine) and the Powertrain Fault Warning Light (wrench icon) illuminated. The electronic cluster froze and failed to display the gear position. Drive (D) mode was completely unresponsive. I managed to vacate the active roadway using Manual (M) mode. While driving in 4th gear in manual mode under extreme caution, a second violent, unintended downshift to 1st gear unexpectedly occurred, confirming the persistent, dangerous nature of this failure. Consequential mechanical damage includes severe transmission clunking noises during gear engagement and a constant internal metallic knocking sound from the engine block caused by the forced over-speed. This failure perfectly matches the technical failure mode described in NHTSA Safety Recall Campaign 26V237 (OSS to PCM signal loss). On XXX, at 11:10 AM, I personally visited Arceneaux Ford Inc. (Authorized Dealership in [XXX]) to report this safety defect, open a service case, and request a safe vehicle inspection and loaner. The dealership explicitly refused to open a case or take action, stating that "Ford Motor Company does not currently have an engineered solution for this problem," leaving me stranded with an unroadworthy, highly hazardous vehicle. The April 2026 recall for the 6R80 transmission (2015- 2017 F-150s) involves a software update to prevent unintended downshifts to first gear, which, if left unaddressed, can cause significant damage to the transmission and torque converter. The recall aims to prevent this damage, not cause it, though the underlying defect—if it causes violent, abrupt downshifts-can lead to transmission failure, including issues with the torque converter. The pcm tells the transmission what gear to shift into. The trs is what signals the pcm to tell the transmission what gear to shift into. I am saying all of this because I am have a bad downshifting problem almost like it’s causing the transmission to slip it has been doing this for months and I think it is causing more failure in my truck. It is getting worse and worse and this is my only reliable vehicle to get to work. I’ve called ford and they told me to keep driving but I don’t feel safe. They also quoted me for a new transmission saying the problem will occur again if I get one so I don’t get the point in doing that but I think it’s causing my transmission to go out and my torque converter to go out. I am out of ideas and don’t know what to do. I cannot afford a new transmission and it’s unfair to me that it’s their problem and I got quoted a new transmission. Also if I keep driving it and it messes up they are going to deny that that recall isn’t the problem I’m not sure what to do.

This vehicle has been a lemon ever since we purchased it new. To start the 3rd brake light would always leak during rain and ruined the headliner took it back to andy mohr ford were we purchased approx 25 times for this issue. Then we have had oil leaks about a year after purchase and it still leaks. Third the fender wells are rusting. And also all the lights on the dash are lit because the computer board failed. To date the truck only has 147k miles. This truck has been a lemon the whole time we have owned it and i am tired of sinking money in this junker. Ford needs to be held responsible for every vehicle off there assembly line.
