Transmission has known issue by Ford Motor Company concerning defective components leading to wear and improper function causing potential safety issues with acceleration and deceleration. My vehicle, I purchased used with 32k miles in April of 2025. I started to have issues with shifting approximately 6 months ago when it would shift erratically when cold and when vehicle was not warmed up. On several occasions the vehicle, when shifted into reverse to back out of a parking space, the vehicle hesitates and drops harshly into reverse. This has occurred at least 4 times within the last 3 months. The next issue is when the vehicle is initially started up in the morning and placed into gear to leave my driveway I pull out and it appears to be operating fine. When the transmission goes to upshift it will shift on the gauge screen indicating it is in 3rd gear but either I have no gear and the engine will rev without acceleration, or as in the last circumstance, it will shift to 3rd, jump to 8th gear, and have no accelerator input for approximately 5-10 seconds. The shift indicator shows the transmission then shifts from 8th, to 5th, then down to 3rd and drops harshly into gear and proceeds operation as normal. The transmission will not shift as smoothly as it does when it is warm for approximately 3-5 miles. This type of operation has been identified as being contributed to the interior components of the 10R80 transmission. In particular, the CDF clutch is identified in the TSB for this issue 23-2250. I have had my vehicle at the Ford dealer on 2 occasions for this issue and they have not been able to replicate the issue. I was advised the 2nd time that the service technician stated the transmission was low 2 quarts of fluid and they were unable to get the transmission to replicate the harsh shifting condition. This vehicle was serviced less than 2 months prior and no indication of low fluid was noted in the transmission at the time of service.

Bought the car on Feb 14th 2026. We were told Avis car sales in fontana does their vehicle inspection on every car before its sold. We noticed the two back tires on the expedition were bald and showing cords. We told Tawnya and George about the tires and they said they would order them, they'd be in within two days and to bring the car back to get them replaced. When we got home we setup ford diagnostics and found out the oil life was at 29% so they also lied and sent us out with bad oil. We checked the dip stick and yeah super dark oil. We've called two days in a row and keep getting told they are busy and they will call us back, they have not. We have tried to reach corporate but they dont have a department for this. The vehicle is currently sitting because of how bad the tires are, its 100% not safe to drive. Trying to get the dealership to honor the safety fix they promised but they are avoiding it.

While driving down the road, the sunroof spontaneously exploded. The loud bang (sounded like a gun shot) and tiny pieces of glass, that luckily were caught in the sunshade, could have been disastrous for my wife and our three small children that were in the car. The glass is bowed outwards. It has been taken back to Mullinax Ford Dealership for repair. They tell me it will not be covered under any warranty. There were no warning signs before now that there could be a problem with this sunroof, we only have 5k miles on the vehicle.

While transmission is cold. You can start to back up into the street and will come to a complete stop half in the road and half out. Like as if it were in neutral. Then I violently slams back into reverse. From there once it in drive. It will skip gear and slam into a lower gear. The car will also come to a complete stop like in reversing when in drive from a cold starting position.

In June 2025, I bought a new 2025 Ford Expedition King Ranch. While washing my SUV by hand, I discovered a manufacturing defect on the roof—Ford Manufacturing had left exposed welding and rivets. The issue is quite noticeable, with depressions around the rivets and welds so deep they could hold golf balls. More than two dozen of these rivet welds are visible and exposed. I contacted my local dealership in Sioux Falls, SD to file a warranty claim, but it was denied. During this process, the dealership informed me that their lot was filled with Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators showing the same problem, indicating that it's a widespread concern among all dealers. After my claim was denied, I reached out to Ford's nationwide customer support at [XXX] and was given case number CXh-XXX. After two conversations, it became clear that Ford's organization was not effectively communicating internally. My dealership thanked me for bringing the issue to Ford Corporate, as resolving it is financially important to them. Sioux Falls Ford contacted the local Ford Factory Representative, but no solution has been provided so far. The presence of these divots allows water to accumulate in the crevices, potentially leading to severe corrosion in southern regions exposed to salty ocean air. In northern areas, freezing and thawing cycles may cause further structural Integrity deterioration, both overtimes causing catastrophic failure. At no time did Ford disclose these defects to their dealership network, and had it been, proper disclaimers would have been required on vehicle window stickers. Nor was I informed about the exposed rivets, welds, or dents on the roof prior to purchase. Ford Manufacturing failed to disclose material information regarding this issue. Ignorance is not an excuse—Ford Manufacturing misled me by failing to reveal the roof defect. The manufacturer date of my Ford Expedition was May of 2025. See attached pictures. HELP!! On Monday, January 12, I was driving down the highway with 2 of my coworkers, when all of a sudden there was a loud pop and glass shattered. My sunroof had exploded. It was a sunny clear day, there were no vehicles in front of us and we were not going under an overpass. We pulled over to take pictures and drove the vehicle straight to Ford. We have since read that this type of incident has occurred before with multiple other Expeditions.

- #11711084January 15, 2026SERVICE BRAKES
Vehicle: 2023 Ford Expedition XLT Max Component: Service Brakes / Hydraulic / Brake Pedal Description of the Problem: The vehicle experiences intermittent brake slippage that occurs randomly approximately 2–3 times per month. The issue happens while decelerating between 10–20 mph. When applying the brakes to slow down, the brake pedal suddenly travels further downward, as if the brakes slip or momentarily lose pressure. This significantly reduces braking confidence and control. The condition occurs without warning and is not driver-induced. When it happens, it feels as though the brakes may fail entirely. Safety Risk: This is a serious safety concern. This vehicle is our primary family vehicle and is regularly used to transport two toddlers and an infant. When the brake slippage occurs, it is frightening and creates fear that the brakes could fail while driving, potentially causing a serious accident. I do not feel the vehicle is safe to operate under these conditions. Service History / Attempts to Repair: •The vehicle is just over one year old and covered under an extended warranty. •The vehicle has been taken to two separate Ford dealerships for diagnosis. •Both dealerships stated they cannot perform repairs unless the issue happens while a technician is driving the vehicle. •I was told I must “wait until the problem gets worse” before any repair can be made. •One dealership kept the vehicle for over one week, drove it 100+ miles, and had three technicians drive it, yet reported they could not replicate the issue. Given how frequently this occurs during normal driving, it is concerning that no corrective action has been taken despite repeated complaints. Outcome / Concern: I am concerned that I am being forced to continue driving a vehicle with a known braking issue until a failure becomes severe enough to be witnessed, placing my family and others at risk. I am submitting this complaint to formally document the issue before serious accident occurs

The vehicle stalls, when stopped in traffic. In order to restart the vehicle, the transmission must be placed in the “park” position. This happens intermittently after the vehicle has been driven for a longer distance. I have read that this is related to the fuel injection system getting overheated which causes the fuel supply to drop and basically starves the system of the necessary fuel for combustion. Ford does not have a solution for this, however, the problem continues and creates a safety hazard especially during the darker hours.

The component of the system that failed was an internal failure in the CDF drum in transmission. This resulted in failure to accelerate up to appropriate speeds and lurching of the vehicle when shifting gears. This put the safety of others and self at risk as the vehicle was unable to get up to speed on the road resulting in dangerous conditions that could lead to accidents due to the inability to reach posted speed limits. The vehicle and the components were inspected by a Ford dealership. No warning lights were observed to indicate that a problem existed.

Since new the vehicle has had a vibration/shake while driving at all speeds. Initially the issue was only at highway speed but is still present after dealer 'fix'. New car spent 3 days at dealer with 1,000 miles on the odometer. At the time shake was so bad over 65mph it felt unsafe to drive at highway speed. The Dealer tried balance and rotate wheels. No fix. Then the driveshaft was re indexed. That was a temporary as the issue is still present

- #11707318December 28, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
The vehicle experienced a failure of multiple driver assistance and safety systems, with warning messages displayed in the instrument panel cluster. The affected systems include Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance, Parking Collision Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Warning. All of these features are currently inoperative. During normal vehicle operation, messages indicated that driver assistance features were unavailable or malfunctioning. Diagnostic trouble codes related to invalid data and lost communication were stored in multiple modules. The failures appear to be caused by the Image Processing Module A (IPMA) intermittently not communicating on the vehicle network. This condition created a significant safety risk because multiple federally advertised and manufacturer-promoted crash-avoidance and collision-mitigation features were unexpectedly disabled during normal driving. The sudden loss of these systems reduces situational awareness and increases the risk of a collision, particularly during highway driving, lane changes, and parking maneuvers. The issue has been acknowledged by the manufacturer in Special Service Message (SSM 53419), which identifies IPMA software as the likely cause. Temporary recovery procedures have been attempted, but the problem continues to recur. A permanent repair has not been provided, despite this condition being known for over one year. The issue has been confirmed by dealer diagnostics. Warning messages appeared prior to and during the loss of functionality. The affected components remain installed and are available for inspection. The underlying software defect has not been permanently corrected as of this report.
