SEATS
The passenger front seat headrest deployed on its own when my wife was driving us back from the store, yesterday. I am so fortunate that I was in the passenger seat when it unexpectedly and violently deployed, as my wife would have been injured far worse than I was. My neck is sore but I am already on the mend, etc. I would hope this is a 'stand alone' incident, otherwise I would consider this event to be one of SERIOUS CONCERN for Dodge as injury could potentially be far worse than what I experienced, etc. THERE was NO WARNING; NO ABRUPT DRIVING OR ANYTHING; IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY WITH EXCELLENT DRIVING CONDITIONS, ETC. I would expect Dodge to repair my vehicle, if nothing else.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, there was a grinding sound coming from the vehicle. After coming to a stop, the transmission shifter was seized and the vehicle was undrivable. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the torque converter was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

The driver's side sliding door won't open, and the passenger side sliding door sometimes will open a little and then reclose. Dodge extended the warranty in January, but the mileage on our van puts us outside of the warranty. However, when our door stopped opening, our van would have been in the warranty. I consider this a safety issue. We have taken the van to the local dealer, and the issue with the sliding door is what the extended warranty was intended. Since we are outside of the warranty, Dodge/Chrysler will not cover the expense of repairing the door.

The passenger side sliding door on my 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan has had multiple lock/unlocking, automatic sliding, and door-ajar issues. I have had to have the automatic locks replaced on the door, but now the automatic sliding door won't close all the way when pushed, and even though it's ajar the van doesn't sense it and notify the driver with the warning light. I took the van to Billy Craft Chrysler on 1/27/22. They identified the issue as the door latch/actuator failing internally. Because it is failing, it cannot identify if the door is open or closed. I have four children that ride in the back and several times have driven with them, thinking the door is closed only to hear air once I start driving. It is a serious safety concern that the warning light doesn't come on when the door is ajar. Also, when the button is pushed to close the door, it now is unable to close the door completely. Thank you for your time in addressing this safety issue.

The contact stated that the heater blower had become inoperable and upon inspection, it was discovered that the heater blower wiring harness was burnt and the wires were melted together. The cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 185,000.

Vehicle just shutting off randomly while driving. No light came on , engine just stopped. Total safety issue when in busy traffic. Other years of same models have been recalled, but not 2012 dodge caravan. The problem was wireless control module that was very costly, but it could have been more costly if an accident occurred. Please look into this problem. From what I have seen on line, this has been a problem for many dodge customers.

ENGINE
The vehicle engine just stops while driving. Theis is the second time this has happened. The first time, the fule pump was replaced, plus the starter. That was only 6 months ago. This time it was towed home, (97) miles. It sat for over an hour waiting for the tow truck, tried to start several times, but would not start. after the tow truck dropped it off, in the driveway, it started right up! This is a vary unsafe problem with this vehicle. I have read many such posts as mine concerning this make and model of Van

The sliding door on the driver’s side stopped working and stayed shut for a couple days. For no apparent reason it started opening and closing again but only when the door handle was kept pulled. I believe it is a safety issue that could have serious consequences if an emergency occurred and passengers need to immediately exit the vehicle. There was no precursor signs of any other malfunction prior to this issue. I would like to know if this a recall situation in the near future? Thank you

ENGINE
The check engine light came on, we took it to a auto zone it showed cylinder 2 misfire. We repaired the spark plugs and spark plug housing units. The check engine light was still on after that. So we took it to a shop had them run a diagnosis again and the same cylinder 2 misfire came back. They took out and replaced all the spark plugs and housing units again and even replaced the fuel pump. Reset the check engine light and it still came back on. Upon checking the internet for possible issues, I found it was reported from over 100 Dodge Grand Caravan owners this same exact issue. After doing the tune up exactly as we did replacing the same parts we have replaced twice they have all still had the same issue. This has been found that it is an engine cylinder that has gone bad. I do not see how this cannot be considered a recall when multiple owners have had the exact same issue. This is only a 2018 vehicle and to already have major engine issues is not ok and to see that I am not the only one. I would appreciate some looking into this problem to see about having the issue made into a recall. This is at least a $3,000.00 fix. That's not an easy pill to swallow on a new vehicle.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The ignition switch will just randomly cut off when driving. If you bump the keys, or hit a pothole or a bump in the road the ignition will kill the car. There was a recall for this type of problem on these vehicles in the past however my car was not included even though it has the same problem. No warning just dies, pulling into traffic, driving, turning it does this every day. It doesn't matter, it is scary to drive because you could get hit so easily if your car just turns off. Also when cranking it it will sometimes get stuck on the starting position and makes a crazy sound because it's stuck, please please please expand the recall to include my vehicle.

When drive over 60mph I smell burn from front hood. I took to Dodge dealership. They said oil leaking so paid $950 , 3 weeks later car broke down like can't go over 30mph, Aqcell won't go up , I took to dealership again , he said transmission I paid $4600( October) it used transmission. After change transmission drive was uncomfortable, not smoothly like before. I took dealership he said It because differen transmission, so need takes a while to get use to it. (Idk it true or not) And engine light on over 7 times and still burning smell if drive over 60mph. Dealership kepts 3 days but they said car is fine. Im like how heck fine? If I drive 60mph now I can smell burn . Feel very uncomfortable to drive i have 3 kids always with me but can't sell car with this conditions . Any advice appreciate

POWER TRAIN
My car died while idling at a stop light 3 times in a row. My engine literally shut off in the middle of the street with 5 kids in the car. Upon further investigation I see there is a major transmission issue with this vehicle and I am currently awaiting confirmation of that diagnosis from our mechanic. Unfortunately, even though this is a 2016 it does not fall under the recall. I'm not sure why since I personally know THREE other people who have had the exact same issue at 95k-100k miles with their 2015/2016 vans. I'm very disappointed and intend to take this further with Dodge itself but the recall needs to be extended to ALL 2015 and 2016 Dodge grand caravans. I will not allow my children or anyone else's to be put at risk because of their clear negligence.
