- #11696301October 29, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
I started my car last Sunday afternoon (10/26/25) and it began to alert me with tones and flashed on my dashboard "Service Brake Assist" and "Service ESC". Prior to that I drove it earlier that morning and it was seemingly working fine. Took it to the dealership the next evening (Monday, 10/27/25)for them to look at the following day (Tuesday, 10/28/25) and was told they were still looking into it. They just contacted me today (Wednesday, 10/29/25) that it is the brake master cylinder that had failed and that I should not drive it and they offered me a rental car.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the brakes made a squeaking sound. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer diagnosed that the brakes had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The ABS warning light was no longer illuminated. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, opened a case, and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

When shifting my vehicle into Park, the message “Shift to Park” appears even though the gear lever is already in the Park position. The vehicle does not always recognize that it is in Park, which prevents it from fully shutting off and poses a potential rollaway or battery drain risk. Often the radio/bluetooth components remain on. This issue creates a safety concern when parking, especially on inclines or in public areas and I live on a dangerous steep driveway. The problem was confirmed by Montgomery Chevrolet on October 28, 2024, after I paid $175 for a diagnostic that is not covered under warranty. They verified the “Shift to Park” malfunction and provided a repair estimate of $1,796.55. The vehicle and component are available for inspection upon request with videos and photos of the "shift to park" error log. This began appearing shortly before the dealer visit and has continued since. Video available upon request* Unable to upload

- #11695589October 25, 2025SEAT BELTS
Name: [XXX] •Address: [XXX] •Phone: [XXX] •Email: [XXX] Date of Incident: October 7, 2025 Description of Problem: While driving our 2025 Chevrolet Traverse on October 7, 2025, our son was sitting in the third-row seat and somehow managed to buckle two seatbelts at once—one from the right side and one from the left—crossing them over his chest and neck. Once both belts were latched, they locked in place. When we tried to loosen one side, the opposite side only tightened further, causing him to be choked. We tried multiple ways to release the seatbelts, but the locking mechanism prevented any movement. Several adults tried to help, but no one could free him. We ultimately had to cut one of the seatbelts to safely release him. He was left with visible red marks on his neck, and the incident caused significant fear and distress. The seatbelts were crisscrossed, which explains why attempting to loosen one side made the other side tighten. This appears to be a dangerous design issue, as there was no safe or quick way to release the belts in this situation. We are deeply concerned that this design could pose a serious strangulation hazard to children or other passengers in the future. Attachments: •Photos showing the crisscrossed seatbelts •Photos showing the red marks on the neck after the incident We request that NHTSA review this complaint to determine if this is a vehicle safety defect and take any appropriate action to prevent similar incidents from occurring. Vehicle will frequently state "Shift To Park" on dashboard when shifter is set to Park. Restarting engine and resetting to Park does not help. Horn and interior bells sound upon exiting the vehicle due to Shift To Park error. Safety issue concern, because I'm use to seeing the error message and ignore it, and what would happen if the shifter was not actually in Park. I took to GMC dealership. The issue as noted by mechanic at dealership is "position switch internally shorting out intermittently in shifter control assembly. Replaced shifter control assembly." I was charged $543.44 for parts and labor. My understanding is that certain Traverse years are known for this problem. I would like a refund from the manufacturer knowing this is a known manufacturer problem.

- #11694880October 21, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The master cylinder and ABS braking system failed, rendering the vehicle inoperable and leaving my family stranded approximately 285 miles from home. This represents a serious safety defect, as the braking system malfunctioned while the vehicle was in operation. The dealership has confirmed the issue, and the vehicle has remained in their possession for over two weeks awaiting parts and repair. During the failure, multiple warning indicators illuminated, including the ABS, Service ESC, and brake system lights. Once the brake system engaged, I was unable to release it or drive the vehicle any further.

- #11693295October 14, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
a week after purchase with less than 300 miles and 5 days the ABS, Trac Control, ESC, lights came on.. The same TSB known to the 2024 Chev Traverse are happening to my car, the same parts suggested in that TSB are what I am being told is being replaced in mine... The TSB I found includes 2025 Buick Enclave and 2024 Traverse. Seems the 2025 is probably having the same issue. The brakes did not fail but the lights remained on, the sealer advised the car was unsafe to operate until the parts were replaced. I am in a loaner car under factory warranty of course but I think the TSB should be expanded to include 2025 Traverse as well.

One day My husband went to work and the antenna fin was attached, he came back home and it was no longer there . We do not car wash my car since its brand new. We hand wash it our selves there should be zero reason for that to come off. Apparently is a very common problem in the 2025 traverse. I joined a Facebook group and over 40 people had the same issue.

The antenna fin became detached and flew off as I was driving posing a risk to other drivers on the road. I was on an open highway when this happened. There was no damage to the fin prior to this.

- #11692598October 10, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
Service ESC & Brake Assist lights came on after only 4 months with the vehicle. The vehicle also abruptly slammed on the automatic brakes when backing into a parking spot with no obstacle present prior to the service lights indicating any issues. The vehicle was diagnosed with a failed brake master cylinder nearly two weeks ago, but the part is still on national backorder and will be stuck at the dealership for an undetermined amount of time with no loaners available. There are plenty other accounts of this same issue happening to other newly-bought '25 Traverses, and the N242482170 bulletin related to the '24 model hints at this being a recurring issue. This safety issue on a brand new vehicle without recognition/resolve is unacceptable.

- #11692590October 10, 2025ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine and oil warning lights illuminated. After a visual inspection of the engine compartment, the contact observed that the engine oil was abnormally low and required 2-quarts of oil to top off the oil level even though the vehicle had recently been serviced. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.
