A very bad ticking noise from the engine. Since I purchased this vehicle, all maintenance and any recall repairs have been completed by the dealership. I first thought that when the oil was changed they did not change the oil filter. Then after a diagnosis of possible lifters in the engine, I did a little research and it appears that Chevy knew this problem existed in 2016 and continued to allow the production of the vehicle through 2018 when the issue was fixed. Why do I as a senior citizen on a low income have to pay for an issue that Chevrolet knew about but continued production of that vehicle with that issue still not resolved. I do not have up to $10,000 to complete that repair and cannot drive the vehicle knowing it has this problem and it could potentially create a bigger problem from driving it.

NO owner manual, etc. supplied. NO safety information supplied. NO maintenance information supplied. Dealer never mentioned when bought new vehicle on 4/22/2026. Went back next day and chevy does not supply any manuals. I could buy one for $100. if they were available. No car seat info or child restraint info. NOTHING. Did chat with GM customer service, no positive results. Asked about recall N252540430. ON owner manual being supplied. Dealer and customer service know nothing about it. I can look on phone, computer, or other digital ways to find info. Or sit in my car and use a tank of gas+ trying to find info on vehicle computer, if it is even there?

I completed the N252494003 recall inspection on my 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2L at Carl Black Buick/Chevy/GMC in Roswell, GA. They said my crankshaft was not one of the vehicles affected and sent me on my way with my free oil change as a remedy to the issue. I subsequently used that information, thinking the “bottom assembly” of my motor was good and not impaired, and proceeded to have the DOD/DFM deleted from the motor because it was a known fail point and this work cost me $7,000. Maybe 6 months after my inspection for the recall, I begin to hear a noise and I take it to the same dealership for service and they tell me the crankshaft is faulty. Nothing about the DOD/DFM delete and subsequent ECM tune had any impact on the crankshaft and yet, the dealership is denying fault when it was there service department hid the truth of the engine during the inspection. The warranty for the crankshaft is no longer applicable because of the modifications I did, but had they been honest about the faulty crankshaft, I would’ve never done that work to it in the first place. The engine should’ve been flagged during inspection and replaced.

I want to start off by saying that I have taken meticulous care of this vehicle and the intention was to keep this truck forever. However, that will not be possible after this incident. I was driving the vehicle at 60 mph when I noticed smoke coming out of the back of the vehicle and at that moment, the dash cluster started warning to shut off the engine immediately due to a lack of oil. I know there was plenty of oil in the engine because I just had the oil changed at a shop two weeks prior to the incident. I was able to verify that it was a total of 22 seconds from the time I noticed the smoke to the time I was able to pull off safely and shut the engine off. At that time, the engine had not seized, and I was able to manually shut off the engine on my own. I never tried to restart the engine and I had it towed to a shop that was nearby. 48 hours later the mechanic inspected it and discovered that the oil cooling line had somehow disconnected from the engine block, which had resulted in a catastrophic loss of oil. When that repair was made, the mechanic discovered that the engine would not start either by hand or automatically and deemed the engine to be seized. The engine in question is the Chevrolet 6.2L L87 engine that was involved in a manufacturer recall for models made in 2020 through 2024. My vehicle is the 2019 model and although there have been numerous occasions that I’ve been able to find in only a short period of research that revealed similar issues with a 2019 L87 6.2L engine, there still is no official recall on my specific model year. It was 1:30 in the morning, and I was rushing my sick dog to the emergency vet when this happened. Not only did it cause a major inconvenience trying to get him there in a timely manner, but our safety was also compromised in the process.

My engine shut off while driving down a highway. I had to coast into an uneven, steep ditch. If someone would have been behind me, it could have caused an accident. I have the 6.2 engine and followed the recall instructions. Dealer said motor was fine and around 7,000 miles later it failed. The oil weight change is not fixing these issues.

A lifter has failed on the driver side of the engine. Dealer is going to replace the bad lifter, but I’m worried about all the metal debris that has been put into the motor, especially after the recall for the bad crankshaft bearings that could cause it to lock up at any time. There was no warnings or check engine light if they’re just had a very bad tick all of a sudden

For the second time in my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado with a 5.3-liter engine, I've had GM lifter failure. It's directly related to the Active Fuel Management System (AFM), and was confirmed by my Chevrolet dealer's mechanic and service writer, Burdick Chevrolet in Cicero, New York, on both occasions. They've had to perform a multi-thousand-dollar lifter replacement service job. They've told me that GM is aware of the safety issues, but won't do anything about them. It also happened to me with my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, but I was lucky that time. It was fixed with new spark plugs and wires. It's cost me thousands of dollars for repairs each time. But that's not why I'm reporting this to NHTSA. The issue is safety. When the lifters fail, you get no warning. The truck rattles and rumbles. It becomes unstable on the road, and sometimes wobbles as if it's about to go out of control. The problem causes the loss of electronic stability control (ESC) and renders the electronic parking brake useless. Lifter failure can also cause the engine to stall while driving, especially at a stoplight. This happened to me. I had to press the gas pedal gently to keep the engine running at a stop light just to get off the road. On the highway, when the lifters fail, the truck slows to a point where it cannot keep up with traffic. That presents a dangerous situation. It's not safe. GM knows about it, but as far as I understand, the company has done nothing to fix the safety problem. Internet forums are full of comments about the problem, the safety issues, and the enormous cost of repairs. Surely your agency can compel GM to fix the lifter failure problem before someone suffers a major accident due to an uncontrollable vehicle. I'll never buy another vehicle with AFM. Many people are unaware of the dangers involved with this system. GM should get rid of it. I Was traveling home one night and the truck shut off while driving and lost all power, loosing all steering, braking power aswell as all my lights while traveling down the road in the dark. . When I went to start it again all I would get was a cranking noise but no firing. After 30 minutes of waiting the truck started again. In which I drove it 3 more miles before it shut down again. After that it would not crank nor start. I then had the vehicle towed to my local Chevrolet dealer, and they had notified me that the engine had failed and locked up. In the process it had also taken out the FPCM (fuel pump control module) aswell as the high pressure fuel pump located on top of the motor. Causing me to have a new motor from GM installed. I had no previous problems or lights before this had happened.
