The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated while driving at approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle stalled, the brakes were inoperative, the gear shift was stuck in drive, and all of the doors and windows were locked and inoperative. The check engine warning light was illuminated and the "please restart the engine" message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump regulator module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 373200.

On 4/27/26, my family and I were traveling south on Colorado C470 at 8 AM. Our 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 had catastrophic engine failure at highway speed as we were passing an 18 wheeler. The failure caused the vehicle to lose power and engine, and the display said to put the truck in Neutral and restart the engine. After coasting to the shoulder, the engine would not restart. We were stranded on the highway during rush hour for an hour and 1/2 waiting for a tow truck. This scenario is identical to the safety risks outlined in NHTSA Recall 25V274 (and investigation PE 24-007). This failure resulted in the intake manifold being physically displaced and damage to the timing assembly. The dealership is attempting to deny coverage by claiming the "upper gallery" damage (timing/intake) is unrelated to the "lower end" issues covered under the special coverage/recall [ this is a Dealer Quote]. This logic is technically flawed: Consequential Damage: A catastrophic lower-end failure (e.g., a broken connecting rod or seized crankshaft bearing) at 80 mph creates the massive internal pressure required to shatter or "blow off" a plastic intake manifold. Timing Linkage: The timing chain is physically connected to the crankshaft. It is mechanically impossible to have a catastrophic crankshaft failure at high RPMs without causing secondary damage to the timing gears and "upper gallery". Recall Precedence: My vehicle exhibits the exact failure mode—loss of motive power due to bearing failure—currently being investigated by the NHTSA for 2019-2024 L87 engines.

Two grounding straps failed on my 2021 Silverado Trail boss lt. GM has a recall for this exact problem under N252515590, model years 2019-2024. Apparently my vin number is not associated with this recall, yet my dealer just did the recall repair. They said my truck did not qualify for the GM recall and I was forced to pay for the repair. The failing grounding straps caused my power steering to go out and my brake system and safety traffic sensors to fail as well. This was very dangerous as it would fail randomly while driving the truck. There were no warning signs or lights on the the truck to indicate any problems.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel failed to steer in the intended direction. The service power steering warning light illuminated. The contact stated that, fortunately, the failure occurred while the contact was driving in the contact's residential driveway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed electrical ground strap. The contact was informed that the electrical ground strap needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced a Customer Satisfaction Program N25251590, however the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under the program. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline and report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Issue: Tailgate unlatches unexpectedly Erratic behavior consistent with electronic release switch malfunction I am reporting a safety concern involving the tailgate on my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD. The tailgate exhibits erratic behavior and has unlatched unexpectedly without user input. I can support this claim with documented video evidence I took while the vehicle was parked. This condition is consistent with the defect described in General Motors safety recall N232426400, which involves water intrusion into the tailgate exterior electronic release switch, potentially causing a short circuit and unintended tailgate opening. Although my vehicle is not included in the recall population based on VIN, it is the same model year, platform, and equipped with the same power-unlatching tailgate system. The failure mode I am experiencing matches the recall description exactly. I brought the vehicle to a dealership for diagnosis. The dealership acknowledged familiarity with this issue and indicated they have observed similar failures on other trucks outside the recall VIN population. However, because my VIN is not included in the recall, I was told the repair would not be covered. General Motors offered only minimal goodwill assistance, and I was required to pay for the repair. This condition presents a safety risk, as an unlatched tailgate can allow cargo to exit the vehicle and create a roadway hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. I am submitting this complaint because the defect appears to extend beyond the currently identified VIN population, and I believe additional vehicles may be affected.

am writing to formally request an investigation and potential recall regarding a serious and increasingly reported issue affecting certain Chevrolet trucks. Numerous owners have experienced a malfunction in which the vehicle fails to properly recognize that it has been placed in park. As a result, the truck may remain running and not fully shut off, even after the driver has exited the vehicle. This presents a concerning safety risk not only to the owner but also to others nearby. This issue is not isolated. A growing number of drivers have shared similar experiences across various social media platforms, demonstrating that this may be a widespread defect rather than individual mechanical failures. Many of these reports include videos and firsthand accounts showing trucks remaining on, displaying incorrect gear status, or failing to power down as expected. The consistency of these reports suggests a systemic problem that warrants immediate attention. The safety implications of this defect are significant. A vehicle that does not properly register being in park can increase the risk of unintended movement, potential rollaways, or prolonged engine operation. This could lead to property damage, injury, or worse, especially in residential or high-traffic areas. Additionally, a truck that remains running unattended raises concerns about theft and unnecessary emissions. Given the potential dangers and the volume of public complaints, I respectfully urge the NHTSA to conduct a thorough investigation into this matter. If a defect is confirmed, I strongly encourage the issuance of a recall to ensure that affected vehicles are properly repaired. Thank you for your time and consideration of this important safety concern.

Suddenly my vehicle would not allow me to shift into different gears and was stuck in drive gear. The shift selector does not allow me to change gears even though it has the same resistance on the shift selector lever. In order to allow the vehicle to shift gears, I had to go under the vehicle to manually switch gears by pulling the transmission selector located under the vehicle. Each time I drive my truck I have to go under my vehicle and manually pull the transmission selector to change gears out of drive.

My vehicle has 3416 miles on it. I was at a stop light, busy intersection, and it just died. It would not restart or go into neutral to push it to the side of the road. I had it towed to the dealership, and found out theres a bulletin on these motors. [XXX] . Why would I buy something when its been a know issue with the manufacturer since 2025. I feel as if the manufacturer is selling these units and once this happens its the consumers loss. I cannot believe the manufacturer has not issued a recall. If that were too happens there would be a lot of lemon laws and there lawyers know not to go down that road. There fix is to give me a refurbished engine!! How can that be constitutional knowing there's been a problem with this engine and now my resale value just went down. If I knew what I know now I would of purchased used because thats what im getting in return which is consumer robbery. Vehicle: 2021 Chevrolet Silverado VIN: [XXX] Mileage at time of incident: Approximately 68,000 miles Date of incident: April 24, 2026 Approximate speed: 75 mph Weather/road conditions: Clear, sunny day Was the vehicle towed? No Did the engine restart? Yes My 2021 Chevrolet Silverado experienced a sudden loss of power and stalled while I was driving on the highway at approximately 75 mph. The weather was clear and sunny, and road conditions were normal. This created a serious safety concern because the vehicle lost power while traveling at highway speed in traffic and could have caused a crash. The vehicle did restart after the incident and was not towed, but it had to be taken in for service after the power loss/stalling event. The dealership later advised that the oil was low on the dipstick and stated they would change the oil and complete a recall/service update. However, I have maintained the vehicle with regular oil changes, and at the time of the incident, the vehicle’s oil life monitor still showed approximately 50% oil life remaining. I do not believe this should be dismissed as a simple lack-of-maintenance issue. I am concerned that the sudden loss of power/stalling may be related to an engine, fuel, oil pressure, electrical, ECM, or recall/service campaign issue. I am also concerned that the vehicle was low on oil despite regular oil maintenance and the oil life monitor still showing about 50%. The vehicle is currently at Tyrell Chevrolet for inspection/service. I have not yet received a clear explanation of the cause of the power loss, whether diagnostic trouble codes were found, whether oil pressure was affected, whether oil consumption was checked, whether any recall or service campaign caused or corrected the issue, or whether the truck is safe to drive. This sudden loss of power while driving at approximately 75 mph presents a serious safety risk and should be investigated. Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 at an auction. The contact stated that although the odometer indicated 89,671 miles at the time of purchase, there was a mileage discrepancy discovered during the vehicle registration. The title was marked exempt; there was no official documentation verifying the actual mileage. The discrepancy was attributed to an inoperable odometer or due to the condition of the frame of the vehicle.

The AFM code p3400 was activated on the truck and the lifters went bad and caused damage to the cam shift. Lifter failure which caused fuel to shoot down exhaust and burned out the catalytic converters. Dealership wants 10k to fix not including the catalytic converters.

- #11735096May 1, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
While driving at an undisclosed speed, the adaptive cruise control set speed independently changed. No warning lights were illuminated. The adaptive cruise control was set at 65 MPH, and the adaptive cruise control independently reset to 42 MPH. In addition, on another occasion, the adaptive speed control was set at 65 MPH, however the adaptive cruise control independently reset to 80 MPH. The adaptive cruise control and the failure reoccurs based upon the front camera interpreting the speed limit signs on the roadway. The adaptive cruise control adjusts the speed based on the interpretation of the speed limit sign and the difference between the prior speed limit sign at the set speed. For example the last read speed limit sign was 65 MPH. Adaptive cruise control was set to 75 MPH, a 10 MPH difference. The newest detected speed limit sign was misread at 75. The adaptive cruise control independently changed to 85. The same occurs when the misread speed limit sign was misread at 45 MPH. The adaptive cruise control would independently change to 55 MPH from a 75 MPH previously set speed. The random failures almost caused the vehicle to be rear-ended. The failure occurs several times and usually at dusk, dawn, or at night. To override this random behavior, I disabled the speed limit detection/display feature.
